Lorelai and Luke, even though they're not really a couple (yet! *wishful thinking*).

3.Who do you want Rory to end up with? Dean or Jess?
I always wanted her to end up with Dean, because he was tall and handsome and a perfect gentlemen, but then came Jess. I hated Jess at first. But he's starting to grow on me... he really seems to like Rory. But who knows what will happen now, with Rory going to college and Jess being in California (is he staying?)

1.Your fav. Character(s)
Lorelai, Luke, Michel, Rory, Lane, Miss Paddy (Patty?) and Dean. Oh and Paris! Paris rocks, don't know why she just does!! And the person who supplies Lore with her coffee, that person, in my mind, is too cool, they keep that quick, witty banter just flooding out.
2.Your fav. couple(s)
Lorelai and any guy that Emily sets her up with, I love the way she tears shreds off them. And Dean and Rory of course.
3.Who do you want Rory to end up with? Dean or Jess?
Dean, he's sweet and cute, and perfect, all at once. Sometimes I think that Rory doesn't deserve him though.
4.Who do you want Lorelai to end up with?- Max or Luke?
Luke, I love his cynical nature and absolute pessimism, cracks me up every time.

I just wanted to say/ask one thing about Gilmore Girls. I'm not a fan of the show but I have seen a couple of episodes and I've always wanted to ask someone this: Why do they talk so....strangely? I guess there's no other word I can describe it as. Rory and her mom talk a bit too fast about nonsense. They switch from one topic to the other. It gets kind of annoying but no offense to the fans, I think that show has some great episodes but their dialogue just makes change the channel.

It's just how they talk. Rory and Lorelie can be really quirky, and their strange way of talking is just one of the little quirks. I enjoy it personally.

1.Your fav. Character(s)--Rory And Laurelai
2.Your fav. couple(s)--Well, they aren't a couple yet..
3.Who do you want Rory to end up with? Dean or Jess? Dean.--Dean, and I don't think Jess is even going to be on the show long since I believe I saw a preview with him in another show (as a main character).
4.Who do you want Laurelai to end up with?- Max or Luke?--Luke definitely.

NYCwitch920--MadMagic had a point. They are very quirky people and to be honest it is their humor which attracts me to it. They work so well together. I've heard some people hate the way they are...but they remind me of myself so much and it makes me feel at home in a way. :)

I think you guys described them well: quirky. :) Most definitely. Even though they are "quirky", I admit, they are funny. I've only watched a few episodes but one of my favorite episodes is the one when Rory has her first date (at least that's what I think it was). It was realistic and hilarious too. I should start watching it but then I might become addicted... :p

1.I love them all so much. They are quirky. My mom doesn't like the show because she says it unrealistic how fast they talk and how clever they are.
2.um... lane and dave or david?
3.Who do you want Rory to end up with? Dean or Jess? well i like Dean the best but it looks like from the premiere commercial that she will probablt meet someone new no that she's going to college.
4.Who do you want Laurelai to end up with? LUKE! but in the commercial it said he married that other girl he was dating!! EEK!

1.Your fav. Character(s)

There's so many great characters in that show! I love Miss Patty, Lane, Lane's mother, Dave and the band, Luke, Taylor, Kirk (he's really quite random!) and Jess.

2.Your fav. couple(s)

Lane and Dave.

3.Who do you want Rory to end up with? Dean or Jess? Dean.

Hmm, neither really. I was never a big Dean-fan, and unless Jess gets his act together, I don't want him and Rory to be together.

4.Who do you want Laurelai to end up with?- Max or Luke?

Luke, of course! I love that pairing to bits! Their interaction together is just so hilarious. They kind of remind me of Ron and Hermione with their love/hate relationship.

1. favorite character: Kirk!

2. favorite couple: Lane and David-- is David still on this season? Did he jump networks to Fox for that OC show?

3. Rory and Dean? too late, Dean's marrying someone! Plus I'm glad they aren't sending Rory off to college still dating her high school sweet heart. Rory and Jess? Well, I hoped he was gone, but Milo's still named in the show intro. You know, they never really explored what it says about Rory that she'd drop Dean for Jess and willingly get treated badly instead of getting worshipped. What does it say?

4. Lorelai and who? Max or Luke? What about Christopher?!?! I think she belongs with Christopher, but Luke is the next best bet.

It's just how Rory and her mother are. It's what makes it so funny. They're really witty - and usually on a coffee high. You've got to be quick to understand some of the jokes and the humor.

I personally find the way they speak one of the best parts of the show, it's always witty! Sometimes, the conversation resembles that of which my friends and I have.

jasper

Fast talking is on a lot of series now. I saw a little blurb on some other program that was talking about how much faster actors have to talk on tv now. They said it was partly because the networks are using so much air time for advertisement. The scenes on the actual shows have to go fast to get everything said and the action fit in inbetween the commercials. They showed a few clips (giving the word count per minute so you could get a real idea of the speed)

So, everyone is talking faster, but on Gilmore Girls it is also part of the style of this show. The dialogue sound unnaturally fast when it's out of the context of the show, but they've made it part of the characters, so it fits. The fastest clip I saw was a phone conversation between Rory and Paris, where Paris was freaking out about something.

By the way, I was glad Michel was back. And if Dave is off the show, I hope they don't keep the Lane's band aspect of the show. The two other guys in the band are too dumb.

Dave is supposed to make a final episode this season to tie up loose ends.

I hear Chris Eiegman is appearing this season. That is too cool. I'm a huge fan of his.

I think it is funny that Dave moved to California and he is now on OC.
Anyway, I'm going to miss him and Jess (Milo) on Gilmore Girls.
I don't know Chris Eiegman, but I will take your word that it is a good thing he is on the show.

I didn't care for Jess or Dean.

I didn't like Dean either. He annoyed me, but he got married last week so hopefully he is gone. I did like Jess though. I though Jess and Rory were cute together.

Weatherby
October 19th, 2003, 2:26 am
He got his own show or they would've stayed together I'm sure.
I want Luke and Loreali together. I'm not the biggest Rory fan. Bledel is a one-note actress [literally her voice never changes] and Rory is a hypocrite and too "perfect".
She was cool in the first season but characters always deterioate after the shows progress.

MadMagic
October 19th, 2003, 2:29 am
I really Luke and Loreali to be together too. I've been waiting for it since the first season, and it still hasn't happened.

Weatherby
October 19th, 2003, 2:37 am
It's the big pay-off. They want to keep us waiting on that one.
It's different for Rory because she's young and will have different relationships. If they get Loreali and Luke together the fans want it to last. Well I do.

I liked Max Perlich's guest stints. It's always cool when he shows up. He does on the best shows. [Homicide and Buffy]

Aranel

Dean gets married? Oh... okay...
We're only half way through the third (i think) season here is Australia, which really sucks, they just decided to stop showing it halfway through the season...
I cling to the hope that it may come back... one day...
Either that, or a DVD would come out that'll fit my region, but I seriously doubt it.

MadMagic
October 19th, 2003, 2:57 am
Sorry to spoil you :)
There isn't a DVD of Gilmore Girls in the US either.

I do want Luke and Loreali to end up together. But I would hate them just to all of a sudden get together because the show is ending or something. I actually do want to see them as a couple for a while at least.

Weatherby
October 19th, 2003, 3:08 am
Me too. It would be cheating to get them together at the very end but it's now they may break them up like Monica and Chandler on Friends.

Aranel

Do you know if there are any plans for a DVD? Oh and by the way, I am a Lorelai and Luke togetherness fan as well.

Quasi_EviL
October 20th, 2003, 10:02 pm
I'm all for Luke and Lorelai too - they just work, and balance off of each other well. There've been so many hints that have been getting less and less subtle as time goes on, and I'm glad they're taking it slow. Hopefully they'll just kind of drift into a relationship.

I don't lay much in stock for Rory either. She's too sing-songy and cutesy for my taste, but I know lots of other people who think she's hilarious. Though..speaking of hilarious, I wonder if Michel (the French man who worked at the inn) will be returning this season in any shape or form? He was darned funny.

MadMagic
October 20th, 2003, 10:45 pm
Michel was in the episode last Tuesday. He was feeling neglected by Loreali and Suki and so they went to visit him at his new job to tell him they were counting on him to work at their new inn. He was working in this hotel where everyone wore black and all the people who worked there had headsets. He tried to pretend he liked it, but he hated it. He was pretty funny last week.

Hey, is this a local thing, or a WB thing: whatever they are showing in the promo is just about the opposite of what actually happens on the show.

It seems like they always piece together pieces of dialog in the most misleading way they can, so you think something will happen. Then when the actual show, and hear the clips in context, it's totally different. They've even been taking clips from different shows and sticking them together.

I've decided that watching the promo is a good way to see exactly what won't happen this week.

I've noticed that too. They do it with a lot of shows, but with Gilmore Girls it seems particularly bad. I remember one thing they had was Lorelei saying to Luke: "Why don't you come over, it might be fun." However, in the next episode, I don't think there was even a whisper of any Luke and Lorelai romance. Ah, the joys of marketing advertising.

Hey, haven't the last few new episodes been somewhat sad? Grandma Gilmore dying was really pretty sad, and I didn't think it would be.
Lorelai struggling so much and fighting with Sukie. Jess showing back up- sad also. Rory's yelling at him and he doesn't come up with any kind of apology at all- just blurts out I love you and drives off.

I really like the show, but I noticed alright in the states that the ads in advance are generally not what happens in the actual episode or at least misleading

I'm stuck depending on the WB site for whats happening though as Ireland is woefully behind on it and its all very random which episodes are shown :) I miss my Gilmore Girls fix from the states!

Good news for Gilmore Girls fans. Season 1 is set to be released in the U.S in May. So hopefully it won't be too long after it makes its way to Australia.
We just had the episode in Australia where Rory starts Yale. Kind of upset that Paris is her "roomie".

Rrrrg. Okay. I'll try not to post spoilers since some people are half a season behind.

The WB promo for this week wasn't misleading at all-- it showed the actual interaction between Dean and Rory without mixing up the order of the dialogue at all.
This misleading thing was that this episode was about Dean and Rory. Their part took about 3 minutes.
Then they showed promos for the rest of the season which I HOPE actually are misleading!!!!
Spoiler:
Dean telling Rory they were meant to be together!! Lorelia in a wedding scene looking like she's marrying that Digger guy!

Yeah, I couldn't believe it, and then I thought about it and I don't think we should believe it.
Digger's dad lied and schmoozed all through that episode. Richard might be sending the same back at him. He wouldn't really go back with that firm- they gave him the heave ho, and he burned his bridges on the way out.

Wow! There's a Gilmore thread here! My computer freezes every time I go to thewb.com.
Okay, am I the only one who just wants Jess to stay out of Rory's life? Whether Rory and Dean ever make it for real doesn't matter--Dean should be in lala land with his new bride, but instead, he's obviously still in love with Rory. This man should not be married. I hope he realizes that before he finds himself still in a bad, possibly unfaithful, marriage 15 years from now. Whatever happens, Jess needs to stay OUT.
I only caught the last 20 minutes last night, so I missed most of the Lorelai and business part--I just know that nothing will ever quite work out in her relationships until she and Luke get together just before the series leaves.

Weatherby
April 23rd, 2004, 4:17 am
Digger is growing on me. I've been an Eigeman fan for years so perhaps that doesn't mean anything coming from me.
He wasn't looking too nifty at first but since he's grown a beard he's gorgeous don't you think?

I thought the trailers indicated that Digger was just a ploy for Loreali and Luke to realise their feelings for each other. That would be a shame.

MadMagic
April 23rd, 2004, 4:20 am
I think Jason and Loreali break up next week because of what Richard does to Jason (business wise). Apparantly there is 'bad blood' between them, so I'm thinking money/business is somehow involved. I don't know that he is a ploy though. Could be I guess

Weatherby
April 23rd, 2004, 4:25 am
On secondhand Digger was more of a ploy to breakup Emily and Richard. She never liked Digger but she won't be thrilled when he goes back to work for Digger's father afterall he put her through.

swishandflick
April 23rd, 2004, 4:25 am
Digger's alright. The fact that he ripped out the cereal boxes on thier first date gave him some respect in my mind :). There's just something about Jess that I really like. I think Dean is special to Rory because he was her first boyfriend, but Jess will always be in the back of her mind. This is reminding me of the whole plot in Felicity between Ben and Noel. It is the same network...

MadMagic
April 23rd, 2004, 4:32 am
Dean bothers me. I'm a total Jess fan.

Weatherby, that could be it. Digger wasn't going to be around forever. He did begin to cause problems with Emily & Richard (the business launch party). If that was his purpose he did his job :p

I don't like Dean or Jess much.
I think Rory should date the smiths fan. It could be a character trait that she digs prickly people.

Lane's storylines are more interesting this season.

Lucius
April 23rd, 2004, 5:09 am
Yeah poor Lane, she's always getting left out of relationships/the big picture.

I don't find her mother amusing though, is she supposed to be funny? You would have to be a very mature teenager to deal with a mother like that. :S

jasper
April 23rd, 2004, 11:52 am
The thing with Dean is annoying. All along they've written him on a completely different track in life than Rory. She's been ivy league bound and he's been intending to attend junior college, and even that was a maybe. They didn't have any real interests in common except finding each other cute. Now she's this trust fund college girl and he's a (married) construction worker at age 19. I think as it goes on, they'll just keep getting more and more not-made-for-each-other.

Not that I'm a Jess fan.

Charmed
April 23rd, 2004, 12:23 pm
I was never really a fan of Dean's but now that he is rarely in it I find that I'm missing his character. I liked Jess when he was vying for Rory but once Rory and Jess started going out I started to dislike him.
I really can't stand Taylor. I think he is intolerable.

Weatherby
April 23rd, 2004, 5:18 pm
Taylor is supposed to be that obnoxious. But too much of him is exactly that. Too much.
Kirk is always a joy.

I wonder if they are setting it up for Suki's husband to cheat on her. He was being awfully flirty with another girl during the easter egg search.

Thanks to all who doesn't make spoilers. I'm about the season behind and I really don't want to know what will happen. I got to know some things, though. I hope Rory and Jess won't get together for good, but I want him to be in the show, cause I like him so much. My gratest wish is that Lorelei and Luke would get together.

Pegasus
April 23rd, 2004, 5:45 pm
I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with the girl being in Ivy League and the guy being junior college material. I don't think where you go to college has much to do with your compatibility. Jess is a hoodlum--there's compatibility for you. I'm sure that they're both just filling in until Rory is ready for a real relationship, but I don't think Dean should be married at all. I hope he realizes it before he and his wife both get hurt worse.
Really, everyone is a filler for Lorelai, right? No one is ever really going to work with her because if she burned her bridges with Luke or got together with him, the story would be over.

jasper

I'm not trying to be a college snob. Real people who seek/ have different levels of education may or may not be compatible- that depends on the individuals. But what I'm saying is that these characters are written on these totally different life tracks. I think there is a problem with those two and the ivy league/ junior college combo. It's about them not having compatible goals in life, and getting more and more separated by life experience, education, and aspirations.

When Rory gets so mad at Dean for wanting to quit school and he's mad that she doesn't understand why he wants to work to provide for his wife, you can see how their aspirations are completely separated. Rory can't stand that he isn't in college because he'll need a degree, or at least that college experience, to keep up with her in conversation and have things in common with her. Honestly, I don't think she can relate to someone who values anything above college right after highschool because she's been programmed that way her whole life.

To Dean, earning the money to buy a home for his wife (and family sooner or later) is a worthy aspiration, and that's why he's chosen that path. Rory just doesn't get how that's valuable. And Rory is never going to be a wife who needs to be "provided for," so she's not really the gal for Dean.

Pegasus
April 24th, 2004, 2:38 am
But at the end, she said that she just didn't want him to "settle," and he replied (quite bitterly, in my opinion) that she is the only one. I think that the quitting school thing comes from his wife and mother-in-law.
My husband still doesn't have his associate degree. He has tried to go back, but he is too infiltrated with "work ethic" to make it happen. I, on the other hand, finally got my associate degree when my second child was two, and I still plan to get my bachelor degree when I am able. I was raised on school, my husband was raised on work, yet we've still got 8 years of marriage under our belts and we're still alive and kicking. I don't see the whole Rory-and-Jess thing panning out, but I hope he doesn't stay with Lindsay. She doesn't make him happy.

jasper
April 24th, 2004, 3:10 am
Well, Lindsey, or whatever her name is, is quite a dip for thinking they need to buy a townhouse. But even if she's not the one to make him happy, it's obviously the situation he wanted. He wanted to be a husband and to be the one to take care of things. That's the picture he wanted, at least. Or else he wouldn't have gotten married. Nobody twisted his arm.

Pegasus

No one twisted his arm, he was just being a stupid rebound teen. I think by now he's realized his mistake but doesn't know quite how to get out of it.

Kirk is truelly a unique character. In previous seasons I disliked his character but the more we see him the more I like him.

Incidentally, someone mentioned the teaser going on about tonight's Gilmore Girls (I have just under four hours before it's on here). I finally saw it last night after 7th Heaven. The thing with Lorelai and Luke definitely looks like a dream. They both have those dreams about each other, as you know. Of course, from the way Luke was dressed (for a wedding, no baseball cap), I'm guessing it's Lorelai's dream.:) It will be interesting to see whether that dream comes before or after her breakup with what's-his-name business partner...

MadMagic
April 28th, 2004, 7:44 am
Actually, I believe it is the wedding of Luke's sister and, um...I don't remember his name. Luke and Lorelai are supposed to attend the wedding together, with one thinking it is a date and the other not realizing it is a date.

Jess just came across like a stalker in that episode!

Pegasus
May 12th, 2004, 10:34 am
I don't like Jess. I never have. Rory deserves so much better. Do you think he'll stop reading the self-help books now that Rory has told him to stay out of her life?:) I'd like to know what Dean was about to say when Jess walked in? I wonder if he and Lindsay have split up? That would be glorious--they don't belong together (Dean is obviously unhappy), whether he ends up with Rory (which I realize the writers probably wouldn't do) or not.
Hey, looks like Luke is finally getting a clue! I have to wonder if he's been reading self-help books, too--that was an interesting reaction to Lorelai's self-help books jibe. That would explain why he's suddenly waking up.

jasper
May 12th, 2004, 12:00 pm
I don't want to post a self help book spoiler, but you're on the right track.

Okay, I'm starting to think that thing Dean said to Rory in the promo (weeks ago) never happens. Or when he says it, he isn't talking to Rory. We don't really see who he is talking to in the promo. I can imagine him saying it to Jess 2 minutes after the last scene in the episode I just watched where Jess looks like a stalker.

What was Jess thinking asking her to run off with him when they haven't spoken in months? Is he in there to make Dean look better? Or to make Rory look stronger because she's sure she's moved on from him? It just made no sense to me[/QUOTE]

And both those boys need to get haircuts!

I wish the TV stations were up to date with the gilmore girls! I'm just after reading up the site (because lets face it I'm sad and additcted )

Luke asks Lorelai out!!! Yay! About time!

I hope that Dean and Rory don't get back together although its obvious that Dean's wife does not make him happy at all, I agree with who ever pointed out that Rory and Dean are on different life paths, Dean is the home town guy who will always be her first love but Rory is becomming the big city girl. They'll be friends but I can't see them being more than that. Dean (I'm not trying to be harsh) has made his bed and now has to lie on it, if he wasn't over Rory...which he wasn't he shouldn't have got involved with someone else until he was sure he was ready....yet alone get married. That was just ridiculous!

As for Jess he's like comic relief! I'm not sure if he's there to make Dean look better (which he does as he's so messed-up) or as something else but Jess and Rory are even more incompatible than Dean and Rory....just my opinion!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Lane too since she was "booted" out of home by her crazy mother

Pegasus
May 14th, 2004, 6:03 pm
I think they just threw Jess back in to spice things up a bit for the Jess fans. I would prefer he just stayed gone, but at least we got to see that Rory has finally grown up enough to boot him for good. I just wish we knew what Dean was about to say to Rory when Jess walked in...Hopefully that they split up? Of course, I'll feel bad if it's because Dean answered an emergency call from Rory...But still, if so, it had to happen sometime, right? You just don't get married straight out of high school!

Liselle
May 15th, 2004, 12:31 pm
I'm inclined to think that Jess was to show just how much Rory had matured, still you couldn't blame Lindsey for being a little worried about Dean's and Rory's realationship even if they were married, and I agree....Dean was a little too young to marry...however it takes two to tango :)

Can't believe Rory? Can you believe DEAN? Oh, I know! When I found out I was like WHAT? THAT LITTLE WANTON! Dean's married!! I agree though tht he really was too young to get married at his age. Right out of highschool? I knew it wouldn't last.

Btw, Charmed, I love your signature!

I agree though that Dean and Rory seem to be going on different paths. Dean more of a home town guy and Rory going off to explore new things. If Dean wants to have any chance with Rory than he's going to need to change his life a bit like that guy from Sweet Home Alabama. I don't see Rory with Jess either because he has to many of his own issues to deal with and he quite frankly doesn't even deserve a girl like Rory at the moment. Jess is going to end up to be just like Luke. He wants to stay home and provide for his wife which personally I don't think was a very wise idea in the first place. I think that Dean realizes what he's missing out on now and Rory is going to want to go back to him but I think that both Dean and Jess need to put their lives back together first. Rory can't be the one t pick up the pieces for them. She chose to get on with her life and do what she wanted. Dean and Rory don't have the same goals anymore and haven't for a very long time. Dean is obviously unhappy but sleepign with Rory isn't going to help things for him.

Sleeping with Rory? Who ever said anything about that? Dean would never do that. He's too good a kid. He'll talk to Rory and save her in a crisis, but I can't ever see him cheating on his wife. If anything does happen with them (which I'm not certain it will), it will be after Dean and his wife have had their marriage annulled, which I'm pretty sure will happen.

Some information on season 5. I will put it in Spoiler tags just in case. 05/19 - The cast list at The WB for season 5 lists: Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Melissa McCarthy (Sookie), Keiko Agena (Lane), Yanic Truesdale (Michel), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Edward Herrmann (Richard), Scott Patterson (Luke), Liza Weil (Paris), Sean Gunn (Kirk), and Liz Torres (Miss Patty). Source: The WB
05/19 - No one in the idyllic town of Stars Hollow ever imagined they'd be using the words "home wrecker" and "Rory Gilmore" in the same sentence. But now they are. Last season, everyone's favorite Ivy League good girl was caught in the throes of passion with her former heartthrob, Dean - the very married Dean. Devastated that her daughter is making a colossal mistake, Lorelai is crushed, and their mother/daughter bond experiences its first real fracture. Meanwhile, Lorelai has her own issues. For one thing, she's walking that precarious friend/lover line with Luke. And compounded with the stress of getting her new inn off the ground, Lorelai must also deal with getting her sparring parents back in the same house. Romantic entanglements and complicated family dynamics will propel Amy Sherman-Palladino's unique drama into its fifth season. Source: The WB
05/05 - Rory Gilmore's first love will be causing new problems on The WB's "Gilmore Girls" next season. Jared Padalecki will return to the show in a recurring capacity. Since his character, Dean Forester, was married earlier this season, Padalecki has been an occasional presence in Stars Hollow. Source: Zap2it

Jasper, I would have been much harsher. I'm not very happy with the turn Gilmore Girls has taken. I realize it's somewhat realistic, but it's too bad that that's reality. If this shows becomes a soap opera (as it appears) instead of a fun happy-go-lucky show, I'll be really mad.

jasper
September 19th, 2004, 12:24 am
My general question was about whether a mom would have said what Lorelai said. She said something like your first time was supposed to be with someone single (as opposed to with a married guy.) Single? Isn't a mom going to say your first time is supposed to be with the guy you just married?
But I guess that would have been pretty hollow coming from this particular TV mom.
Anyway, the Rory and Dean stuff aside, did you like the finale?

Pegasus
September 19th, 2004, 12:30 am
Ah, I'm glad you're coming from that angle, rather than the other end. I've already told my children that only married people should make babies, and they don't even know how they're made yet. But as you said, since Lorelei's not exactly a glowing virgin, never having been married herself, it would be a bit hypocritical. I really thought Dean was a better kid than that--Rory too, for that matter.
Okay, Dean and Rory aside--yes, I absolutely loved the whole Lorelei-and-Luke part! I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next there--that we're-trying-to-kiss-and-here-comes-a-parade part looks great.
EDIT: Would a real mom have said that? Not this real mom. Like I said, that girl got off easy.
EDIT 2: Immature? Not keeping up with TV schedules is immature? No, Jasper, but throwing a tantrum is. (See my "goes into a corner and pouts" entry)

I can't choose between them but I love Jess, there's no way. I love Rory, I love Lorelai but the bad boy always is better. ;)

I used to think Rory should end up with Jess but now that Logan has come along he's sounding better by the minute and as it seems Jess won't be coming back anytime soon he's definitely the best guy for her. December 29th, 2004, 1:23 am
No doubt Dean was better for her. He was reliable and caring but Rory has always lived in a city where everyone is like that and I think Jess was a good change for her. Jess loved her in his own way and that's what set him apart from everyone else in town. He would give her the excitement the small city folks would never be able to provide and that's what I loved the most about him.

Jess is the kind of guy girls love to date but not the kind we wish to marry. Dean is that guy that we can trust and know he'll always be there for us but for now I don't think that's what she needs so yeah, I think she could have been with Jess for a little longer to learn how to enjoy life more. But since she didn't I'll take Logan is a good replacement for him and he'll help her do that from now on.

Emily annoys me so much. But i'm sure thats how her character is designed to be. I could do without Michel as well. Same thing goes for Kirk and Taylor. They really have the annoying town folk part down-pat. Interesting pice of useless information. In the pilot Kirk was called Mick.

Yeah, I notcied the Mick bit. I was confused cause randomly they changed his name to Kirk. Also, I don't get WB, so who is Logan? I've head about him and stuff, but when does he come in?

Also, I was reading the episode guide and in season five, Rory or someone is like "It's 11 at night. Who are you going to cath up with, Drusilla and Spike?" It was funny, cause I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer, especially Spike.

Logan is a guy from Yale that Rory meets when she is investigating this secret Yale society for a story for the paper. Logan helps her get an inside look and stuff and they become friends. In the latest episode that aired, he barged into one of her classes with two other guys and they pretended to be fighting over her and they made a huge fuss and fought in the class as a prank which made her really embarrassed. Then Marty her friend later tells her that Logan likes her, and that's why he did that. Marty seems very perturbed by this, considering that i think he really likes Rory, but she herself doesn't know what's going on even with Logan.

Logan is different from Jess for sure. He's really smart, but he's a practical joker as opposed to the 'serious bad-boy image' that Jess portrayed. He's not like Dean in the sense that he's not shy and doesn't have that soft demeanor. Logan is actually really good, and from what i've heard, they will get together, probably soon.

Basically, Logan is Tristan. A slightly more mature version of a rich guy who flirts by being annoying, and Rory is supposed to be too naive to recognize this as flirting. *YAWN*

Mmmm...sweet Gilmores. I picked up the show about a month ago and have discovered that it's completely addictive.

Anyone got a good fansite or website that gives a little info as to what has happened in the series? I'm currently stuck in between the episode where Rory just starts Harvard and the future episode where Rory is dating Dean. The quantim leap in time is driving me a bit crazy.

I guess while I'm still here: 1.Your fav. Character(s): I really like Suki, Rory, Lorelai, and (interestingly) Paris. 2.Your fav. couple(s): Lorelai and Luke. 3.Who do you want Rory to end up with? Dean or Jess? Neither. Rory should find someone that meets her needs and I don't think either do. 4.Who do you want Laurelai to end up with? I haven't seen enough of Max, so I guess I pick Luke. But I'm not sure how well their relationship will work out because he gets so cross with her. She might not be serious enough for him and he may be too serious for her.

'Tis truly sad they couldn't think of another way to carry on those Gilmore family dinners than by having Richard and Emily pay for Rory to go to Yale. Ah well. I caught a couple episodes on reruns. One from the first season, one from the second, one from the third. I'd seen enough to know I had to grab the DVDs when they came out. I have the first season now and it's just a work of art. I have to say that there are a couple reasons I'm glad that I didn't pick up the show from the beginning. First, I could hardly have afforded to be addicted to the show five years ago, I'd never have survived the transition to college. Second, I loathe the way they rewrote Dean in the second and third seasons. In the first season he was an all-around good guy, caring, loving, understanding, cool. A great boyfriend. Then, for reasons passing all understanding, they rewrote him to be like Jocko Whitney from Smallville. A decided downgrade.

Anyway, I absolutely adore the show now.

Questions

1. My favorite character is Lorelai Gilmore (as in Lorelai the Second) hands down. Followed closely by Paris and Rory. I wish they'd do more with Lane. The actress is great but they seem unable to work her in consistently.

2. Favorite couple--Lorelai and Luke.

3. They haven't written Rory a worthy mate yet. If they could find a way to write a character similar to but slightly better than (only slightly mind you) first-season Dean--maybe first-season Dean with a little more brainpower--I'd be happy.

4. As for Lorelai--Luke, no question. As much as I respect and, in some ways, admire Max--Luke is her soul mate.

He was also funny in the first season... Something he seems to not have anymore....

I love Laurelai she amuses me...

Favorite couple, Laurelai and Chris... I was rather not happy when they stopped that by him getting his girlfriend pregnant... Other than that Laurelai and Jason, I don't know why, but I just don't like Luke...

I've been watching season 2 on DVD. I think, after seeing it again, I feel sorry for Dean really. He gets jealous, but for good reason- he's not being wacky. Rory really does throw him over. His big mistake was thinking Rory was ready to be in love with him forever at age 16- the sap!

I think their relationship got ruined right about the episode with the picnic basket. Dean got just too upset about it, but then Rory was totally insensitive to his feelings. Why did having the picnic with Jess mean wandering off to a secluded spot, eh? It was all downhill after that.

jordmundt6
January 11th, 2005, 2:47 am
Okay let me explain. I saw, now that I think about it, maybe four or five scattered episodes in the second season. I got the impression that Dean wasn't in Rory's league and that he was a possessive, jealous, somewhat dim boyfriend. Whitney, complete with Whitney haircut and hobbies and I felt Jess was a much better fit for Rory. Dean Seasons 2-5 bears no resemblance whatsoever (spiritually at least) to Dean from Season 1. If Dean from Season 1 were just a little sharper, he'd be Rory's ideal match. Sadly, he disappears because--I don't know--did the WB really think the series needed a bad boy heartthrob?

Okay, I know who Chris is. I know who Max is. Who in the world is Jason?

Chris has spark and he has intelligence and talent (though he doesn't know how to use it) but he seems stuck, even as he gets a new girl, in being this permanent 16-year-old. Careless with money, wild driver, careless in love. He was the perfect match for Lorelai at 16 but as young and free-spirited as she is, she outgrew him.

And see--I've always loved Luke. The devoted followers of the series will have to help me here, how did Paris finally break her obsession with Tristan?

jasper

Tristen gets shipped off to military school and Paris finds a college boy.

Jason- he's a season 4 character. Bleah.

I don't think the Rory/Dean thing was ever meant to be-- but Dean obviously did. Rory doesn't take the relationship as seriously as he does, and she's pretty careless about hurting his feelings so that's why I felt sorry for him after season 2. I don't feel sorry for him at this point!

Really? I think Lorelai didn't so much shun the world as she shunned her parents.

Caught the tail end of re-run tonight and I saw the promo for the upcoming new ones. I hate seeing the promo!

jasper
January 12th, 2005, 11:24 am
You're right. She says it sometimes- that she ran away from "that world." But I think the reason she has a problem with that world is that her parents are so warped.

jordmundt6
January 13th, 2005, 1:10 am
Her parents were warped, the other rich people were stupid, the kids she grew up with were boring jerks (except for Christopher). She had many reasons to run away but Emily figured prominently Sadly, I'm just as mean as Lorelai, I loved watching Emily humiliated by her mother-in-law. I felt a little sympathy but was more confused that Emily couldn't recognize the same behavior pattern in herself that she loathed in her mother-in-law.

What's the word on the series by the way? I saw something on IMDB that indicated this was the last season. Say it isn't so!!:(:(:(

Last season! I doubt it---it's a fairly popular show. At least I hope so. I think the new GG starts on the 31rst or something.

I love this season with the exception of Dean. It seems like they only had him on the show so that Rory would lose her virginity. And then he dissapeared. He didn't really serve a purpose. But I guess it shows how Rory was still attatched to the past.

Logan is a great addition. He's cute, smart, and funny (his imitation of a 30s reporter at the beginning of the season was hilarious). I predict a Rory/Logan kiss by the end of the season.

Okay--did something happen to Chris to ennoble him when I wasn't looking? He's the kid who never grew up. He had no ambition or dreams, only his wildchild rebellion. He's blown the only two serious relationships of his life. Why is he so great? I admit that his is smart and handsome, and he does care about Rory--and--there are still sparks between him and Lorelai, but a relationship can't be purely physical. When they were kids they united in hating "the life" and their parents (with good reason) but Lorelai needs and deserves more than that. A confidante, a soulmate, someone to go through life with to share good times and bad, love, friendship, and passion. Chris doesn't know what that kind of commitment looks like or feels like. Lorelai already has that with Luke and they've shared most of it since Season 1! If you look back at that first season, Luke is sort of a cross between big brother and stepfather to Rory. He's the complete package and neither of the Gilmore Girls is beyond his depth (which you wouldn't know at first glance). Sorry, I'm a Luke fan and I'm both puzzled and incensed about these glowing reviews Chris gets, the golden boy getting the free pass from his parents, his might-have-been in-laws, and the audience.

It's been so long since new episodes, but hopefully Logan(?) and Rory will be official soon. Logan seems like a good guy now, but I think if they do date Lorelai will have some objects to his privelaged lifestyle and just how much Richard and Emily support the relationship. Lorelai has a habbit of believing in everything anti-Richard/Emily so this may not be any different.
