Thanks everyone. In response the the question about the medium: it's all photoshop, using the paintbrush at different opacities. I didn't do any sketching which I severly regret now.
About the hairline yes it's exactly like you stated. At one point I had it perfect but my computer crashed before I was able to save and was reduced to a bald-headed Draco which I had to start over with and kinda rushed through finishing it after that. :)
