A group of rabid Snape fans (AKA Sevages) is hoping to send JKR a CD with the All About Snivellus Snape thread, our questions about the character, and some Snape fan art and fan fiction.
Do any of you Snape artists feel the desire to submit a design for the CD label or cover? :D (Anyone who wants their stuff IN the disc as well as ON it, post here, please-- http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=17333 )
Let's see if we can make a few designs, and let the Sevages vote on what they like best. I can't guarantee it will be used, but it could be fun to work on anyway.
Rules:
Must be your own original artwork. (No Rickman photoshopping please)
The original should fit the attached templates re size and shape.
Must leave some room for a title and subtitle
If your design has any OOP spoilers in it, please PM me privately rather than posting it here before the spoiler policy cut-off date.
Here are the templates, happy Snaping!

Perhaps I should note that the attatched templates are thumbnails, lest anyone think that they must confine their artwork to one square inch. You can get the full-sized image by clicking on the thumbnail.

Good point! I do like the new thumbnail feature, though it threw me off a bit when I first went to look at someone's drawing and it was so weeny....

When is the deadline for this project?

I dunno....not TOO long. Depends when Dink has the Snivvy Snape thread trimmed down to something reasonable and when I've gathered and coded the other stuff. :) Let's guess about two weeks.

By the way, I should probably mention--we need both a front and back cover for the CD as well as the label, so we'll be picking three different ones. :)

Inky,
Remember your Snape on a bike? That should go on a cover. Like he's a bicycle courier delivering the cd to JKR.

Thanks, but I'm planning to put that in the 'strange and bizarre' section of fan art! I do intend to have a shot at label design myself, though!

The tentative title of the CD is The Joy of Snape....though it's still up for debate. :)
Just letting y'all know...but DON'T put that title on your image. If it gives you any ideas for the artwork, though...
(And, BTW, any submissions that aren't chosen will still be included in the fan art section of the CD!)

"The Joy of Snape" is good. I wish I could draw....Snape on a bike sounds wonderful. I think it's cool that we Savages want to give her that. I mean, I wrote her a letter telling her how much I adore Snape (it was long and sappy) and how HORRID I thought it was to ask, "Why would anyone want him in love with them?" or whatever...but...I just hope that something like this doesn't interfere with her actual story-planning, or anything....not that I see how it could....

Shame there's no Rickman photoshopping, that's the only thing I can do. This is a great idea though :D

Oh Inky, I love it!
How many votes do I get?
Three votes, one for the CD, one for the front cover, one for the back cover. (And possibly one more for the inside of the front cover, we'll have to wait and see how many submissions we get, too.)

Inkwolf, is there a certain theme that the Thread on the CD is going to try to get at?....or is it just Snape questions in general?
If I'm going to have a stab at this entrepreneur, I'm going to have to need to narrow down the drawing options...I'm a very indecisive artist! Well, drawer..."artist" is a bit too professional sounding....
ALSO: I've read the recent posts in the Snivellus Snape thread and I couldn't help but goggle at the enigma of his underpants....will this be a major topic as well? :p
*shudders from the many drawing ideas popping in head*

Well, nobody's arguing with the title The Joy of Snape, so that's probably going to be it. No specific theme, we're sending an edited-down version of the All About Snivellus Snape thread, Snape fan art and fan fiction, and a list of questions which you can view here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~inkwolf/questions.html
The only real theme of the disk is: we're Snape fanatics. The underwear will be mentioned among the questions, but not a main theme or anything.

By the way, 'the joy of snape' is fine, but why not just call it 'all about Snivellus Snape'?
By the way, yours is good Inky

I know we can't photoshop any images but can we use a computer program to draw our own work or does it have to be hand drawn on paper??

I haven't come up with anything for the cover but I'd like to include my book 5 art of Snape with the fan art part of the disk. I'll post it once the spoiler ban is lifted or if you need it before then I can e-mail it to you.
Inkwolf
September 2nd, 2003, 8:41 pm
Honeydukes: We can if we want to! Just looking for a title with a touch more personality. Feel free to suggest one!
Fleur02--yes, digital art is fine! Even photo compositing is fine, except not with images of Alan Rickman or scenes from the movie, please. I have nothing against pretty pics of Alan, but I'm hoping for artistry and real originality in our entries, and hoping NOT to send a CD which looks like Warner Brothers created it. (So, for example, a composite with cauldrons and potion bottles and castles or whatever, or even a photo of your Snape-like boyfriend in a wig and black robe would be a good entry, too.)
DarkMark, thanks, I'll dig that up. :) I have access to the spoiler bin. Unless your original is larger/higher quality, then you may as well e-mail me the original version. We'll have about 800 MB's free to fill on the CD, so file size restrictions don't matter....though it's nice if the whole picture is visible on the screen at once. ;)

;) Well I just think that 'All about Snivellus Snape' has more personality than 'The Joy of Snape' - and more of a ring to it

No problem, the floor is still open for title suggestions. Like the CD labels, we'll vote on them at the end, before anything's final.

Inkwolf, that cd label is fantastic!
If I could draw/paint, I would try my hand at this, but unfortunately, I'm terrible at both. I might try anyway, though; just to see if the ghost of Degas has possessed me since the last time I tried something like this.
I understand why you don't wish to have Rickman-Photoshopping on the cover/label. We should try to treat the books and film seperately.

Hey Inkwolf, in regards to that picture. I never posted the finished piece. The originall is 11x17 300 dpi so it's way to huge as it is. I'll just send you one at 72 dpi and about 700 pixels tall or so. And the leaned over snape you did ealier looks cool. I like the way it wraps around like that.

Okee, I've got the label finished! Design, anyways. I REALLy do not like my scanner.... But you can darken it, trim it, whatever you want with this. I'll post the full pic in seperate thread. I think it's neat, just butchered by the scanner. o.o
This was based after my original markered picture of snape. ^^ The outfit, anyways...and no, those are not wings. They're his cloak, the huge metal clasp open and stuff...yeah...
