Wake. The last word of the fifth Harry Potter book had just been read by a 15 year old boy. He had short, light brown hair, and lurid, dazzling green eyes. He was an average build for his age but had a bit of muscle as well. He was also looking particularly tired, as he had spent all night, or morning rather reading the latest Harry Potter book, the Order of the Phoenix. This boy’s name was Michael King and he was an avid Harry Potter fan. He got up from off his bed stiffly, and went over to his computer. Moving the mouse to get off the screensaver, he opened the Internet and typed into the address bar, www.cosforums.com. It was as the page loaded that Michael swore. The staff had closed cosforums for a few days. Great, thought Michael. I’ve just finished the best book in the World and there’s no one to talk to about it.
He decided to take a walk to the chippy to get lunch. He had been up for nearly 11 hours reading the book, and so was undoubtedly hungry. On his way back he thought about what life would be like to be in the real Harry Potter World. He wondered what house he would be in. Maybe Hufflepuff, but then maybe not as although he was loyal, he was far from hard-working. In fact, quite the opposite. Michael was very lazy when it came to anything. Slytherin, he thought would probably not be for him either. He did crave a little power but he was hardy horrible or vicious or mean. Ravenclaw could be for him though. He was pretty smart and he did like to learn. He then thought about the other house he could be in. About Gryffindor. As he entered the house again, and went upstairs, he thought about how cool it would be to be in Gryffindor. He also thought he could be quite good for it. He was after all pretty brave. He did according to his mum ‘stupid things’ anyway.
Lying back on his bed, and pulling his duvet over him, he fell off into for once, a dreamless sleep and didn’t wake up until the next morning, June 22nd.

‘So tired,’ I whispered. I just woke up after the nicest and longest sleep I had maybe ever had.
I’m Michael King for those of you who didn’t know. Harry Potter fan, yet normal person. I sometimes just try and pretend I’ve done things that would mean I meant I was a wizard but I can’t think of anything. It’s like I think of the things but they’re too far away, just out of reach. Thinking I might see if www.cosforums.com is back yet, I turned on my computer but not before…
‘MICHAEL? Are you up yet? Get doing your revision! Come on, you’ve got exams this week. And they’re VERY important. I…want…you…to…REVISE!’
Mum. Do this, do that. Stupid control freak.
‘What do you think you’re doing? You’re not going on the computer! You need to revise! You have very important GCSE’s coming up next week!’
ugh…As if I needed reminding.
‘I’m going on websites where I need to revise!’ I said in my best voice of outrage.
‘Well you better be or you’ll pay!’
Sighing, I turned on the computer. Mum was so naïve sometimes…Cosforums wasn’t back up yet unfortunetly. And none of my Harry Potter buddies were online so I couldn’t chat on MSN to them. With nothing else to do, as I’d already had all my cool stuff taken out my room as the exams approached, I tried to get in a good few hours of Science revision for my exam on Tuesday. At around 1 o’clock, I went downstairs to have lunch.
‘Have you thought about what you want to do for your birthday this year?’
I stopped. My birthday. How could I have forgotten. It was on July 10th. Only around 2 and a half weeks to go! Then I would be sweet 16.
‘Maybe bowling,’ I said shrugging.
‘That’s what you did last year!’ my mum said.
‘So?’ I said.
My dad and sister came downstairs for lunch at that moment.
‘What’s up?’ said my now 20 year old sister.
‘Trying to decide what to do for Michael’s birthday,’ my mum said.
‘Are you going to invite any girlys?’ said my dad in a high voice. The usual dry humour yet again!
‘No,’ I replied in a bored voice. The thought hadn’t crossed my mind to be honest. I had been working quite hard for the exams, but they didn’t believe I had been.
‘Leave him alone, he can invite who he wants!’ said my sister. Good old Laura. The only one in this family who understands me.
I trudged back upstairs after lunch thinking. What should I do for my birthday? Maybe go somewhere to stay? Where though? I got out a map of Great Britain. Where would be really cool to go? And then I saw it. London.
