DISCLAIMER- Don't own Harry Potter. Simple as that.
Chapter One- The Kiss
It started with a simple kiss. Hermione and Ron were sitting in the library studying for a test:
Why did I let her drag me here?, Ron thought to himself. He looked over at Hermione. His Mione. He had developed a crush on her in the 4th year. He looked over at his paper, which was blank except for a line in the middle, which had the title.
Hermione looked over at him. "Why haven't you written anything?" she asked. Because I was too occupied with you., he thought.
"Because I don't have a book."
Hermione moved her chair closer to him and she said, "Well, here's my book. I guess we'll study together." Ron felt the need to tell her how he felt.Yeah, mate. She'll be flattered., he thought. He looked over and saw Hermione watching him closely.
"Something wrong?" Hermione asked him.
Ron moved closer to her, shook his head, and leaned in.

HERMIONE'S POV-
Hermione asked Ron, "Something wrong?" She asked, concerned.
She knew something was wrong, she just didn't know what. Without warning, Ron's arm was on the back of the chair, his face was inches away from hers. Their lips met softly and slowly. Hermione sighed and closed her eyes. She felt Ron move closer to her, deepening the kiss. She slowly wrapped her arms around Ron's neck. Something inside both of them was saying finally as they wrapped their arms around each other. After about 10 minutes, Ron pulled away.
"Wow." Hermione whispered. She touched her fingers to her lips. Ron internally panicked. Why is she doing that?? Did she like it? Am I a bad kisser?. All these thoughts were lingering in his mind.
"I'm sorry. Mione, I didn't mean to, I swear." Ron said.
Hermione looked at him. "It's okay. Don't worry."
At those final words, Hermione took her book and left Ron there alone. Why did she leave? She must hate me!! Afraid he was about to have a nervous breakdown, Ron left the library, his intention being to talk to Hermione.

Chapter Two- Confrontation
Hermione climbed the stairs to the Gryffindor common room. Chill out, girl. It was just a kiss., Hermione thought to herself. Finally, she got to the portrait hole.
"Bravery!" she said breathlessly. She stumbled in.
Her other friend, Harry was sitting by the fire. "Mione! Where's Ron?"
Hermione said, "He's still in the library." Harry looked concerned. "Did you guys argue?" Hermione said, "He was too busy snogging me to argue with me."
Harry said slowly, "He was too busy doing what?"
Hermione said, "I looked up from my book and there he was just right in front of me. Now I don't know what to say. I don't like him like that, he knows that."
Harry nodded.
Hermione continued, "I mean I liked it. It wasn't like kissing Draco or anything. Now Ron's gonna expect me to be his girlfriend and I don't want to. I mean, what if something happens and we break up..." Hermione was talking fast now.
"Mione! Chill out, okay?" Harry scooted over. "Come here."
Hermione said, "Will I fit?" Harry nodded. Hermione sat next to him in the chair, which seemed to expand magically to fit Hermione. Hermione put her head on Harry's shoulder and he put an arm around Hermione's shoulder.
"I don't know what to do, Harry.", Hermione said.
Harry felt for his friend. He and Hermione had a special bond. She was the only girl he would understand. Hermione sighed heavily. The portrait hole swung open, revealing Ron. He saw his two best friends cuddling in a chair in front of the fireplace. Any other person would take this the wrong way.
"Hey, guys." Ron said, plopping down in the other chair in front of the fireplace. Harry and Hermione broke away.
"It's not what it looks like." Hermione said immediatley.
She sat in the chair she was in before.
"So...." said Harry, trying to break the silence.
Ron looked at Hermione, who was looking at her fingernails, which were painted black. Hermione looked up at Ron. Their eyes met briefly.
Harry witnessed this. "I'm going up to bed. See you in the morning."
Hermione said, "Night."
Harry waved and climbed the stairs to the boy's dormitory. Ron looked at her. "Hermione, I-", but he was cut off.
"Look, do you like me or something?", Hermione asked.
Ron said, "No. I love you.", like this was the most obvious thing in the world.
"No, you don't! We fight like cats and dogs. We wouldn't last the year." Hermione said.
"Wanna bet?" said Ron.
Hermione said, "See?! We're starting already." Ron said, "Please, give me a chance. Krum would never know."
Hermione said, "Me and Viktor are perfectly happy. Unlike you, who is so shallow you wouldn't recognize a nice girl if she came right up to you and slapped you in the face, I would never cheat."
Ron said, "What about you and Malfoy?"
Hermione said, "We're friends, Ron. Me and Viktor weren't even together when me and Draco dated."
Ron said, "Whatever. And what do you mean, I'm shallow?"
Hermione said, "Hmm... The Yule Ball? ' I can't date her. Her nose isn't on straight enough."
As much as Ron hated to admit it, she was right. To avoid waking the whole of Gryffindor House, Hermione stormed past him to the girl's dormitory. Ron thought to himself, I'll have you, Hermione. You'll see.

Chapter Three- Makeups and Breakups
Ever since Ron had told Hermione he loved her, she had been ignoring him. She had been spending a lot of time with Harry, Ginny, Draco, and her other friends from other houses. It made him sick that Hermione would rather talk to Dracp then talk to him. Ron knew that Hermione was happy with Viktor, but Ron also knew that Viktor couldn't be around to hold her and comfort her whenever she was having a bad day.
Even Ginny would put a good word in to Hermione whenever they hung out. I shouldn't have told her I love her. But I do. I can't handle her as just a friend., Ron thought to himself, watching Hermione eating her breakfast with Ginny and Harry. (*By the way, if it sounds like Harry is completely ignoring Ron, he's not*)
Hermione and Ron did fight like cats and dogs, but Ron loved her anyway. He had never told anyone this but Ron had loved Hermione ever since he found out she was with Draco. At that moment, Hermione looked over at him and gave him one of those sweet smiles he had fallen in love with. The mail arrived at that moment. Hermione had gotten an owl from Viktor. Ron loved the way her eyes lighted up whenever she saw the familiar owl from Bulgaria. Hermione stroked the owl's wings with her delicate fingers.
She opened the parchment with a gorgeous smile on her face and read through it. As her beautiful eyes scanned the parchment, her eyes changed from love and happiness to hurt and sorrow.
Ron heard Ginny say, "Mione, what's wrong?" and Hermione shoved the parchment in her face.
Ginny looked over at Ron and gave him a look that clearly said, 'talk to her'. Of course, Ron couldn't talk to her because she was ignoring him. But he decided to at least try.
This was his best friend, not to mention the biggest crush he ever had. So, naturally, he would try talking to her. Ginny was patting Hermione on the back and saying stuff like, "He has no idea what a good thing he had with you." Hermione smiled. Ron saw that her brown eyes that were usually full of beauty, knowledge, and curiousity, were now tear stained. It pained him that Krum would do something like this to such a wonderful girl. He shook his head in disgust.
~*THAT NIGHT~*
The second Hermione got back to the common room, she shut herself in her room and turned on her music. Ron knew that Ginny wanted him to talk to Hermione, but currently, she seemed way to depressed to talk to anyone. Both Ginny and Harry were watching Ron as if expecting him to go up the girl's staircase and talk to Hermione. Ron looked at them. They were giving him a look of encouragement.
"Do you guys want me to talk to her?" Ron asked. Ginny and Harry nodded. Ron got up and went up the girl's staircase.

Chapter Four- Truce?
Hermione was sitting cross-legged on her bed and listening to Chevelle (if you've never heard of them, try their song "Closure"). She was looking at a picture of her and Viktor taken last summer. It was in front of his house in Bulgaria. Hermione could feel the tears welling up in her eyes again. She wiped them off with the sleeve of her blue sweatshirt.
She thought about how happy Viktor would be whenever they were together just months ago. And now, he writes to her telling her that he thought that it would be better for her to date a Hogwarts boy. Many of the boys she hung out with always told her that she was beautiful and that she could have any boy she wanted. Hermione sighed. She had deep feelings for Viktor and she thought he was 'the one'. Hermione was about to go to bed when there was a knock on her door. She got off of her bed and went to answer the door.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Ron looked at Hermione. She looked beautiful even though she had been crying her heart out minutes, no hours, before. He looked at her. She was wearing a blue sweatshirt and black pants.
Hermione looked at him. "Yeah?"
Ron snapped out of his trance and said, "Did you want to talk?"
Hermione replied, "Well, I guess if it helps."
She let him into her room. She was a prefect, as was he, so they got their own rooms. Hermione returned to her sitting position and turned off her music. In a regular situation, Ron would let Hermione do all the talking, but she was delicate now.
He put a hand on Hermione's foot and said, "Are you okay?"
Hermione looked up at him. "Yeah, Ron. I've just been dumped. I'm just bubbly."
Ron said, "Hermione, I'm only trying to help."
All of a sudden, Hermione threw herself at him and started sobbing.
Ron gently patted her back. "What's wrong with me, Ron? I can never keep a boyfriend. WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!" Hermione managed to say through her sobs. Ron, still holding her close, started rocking her back and forth.
"Nothing's wrong with you, Mione. Krum's just really, really blind." Ron whispered. Hermione looked up at him. She nuzzled her head in his neck.
"I should have seen it coming.", she mumbled. Ron took her chin in his hands and tilted it up so she was looking directly at him. He wiped her tears away with his fingers.
Hermione smiled. "I treat you horribly, but you're still nice to me." She wrapped her arms around Ron's neck and hugged him tightly. Ron didn't care that this was the closest he would ever get to Hermione, but at least she was letting him in. Hermione pulled away from the hug and looked in his eyes. Ron thought he knew what she was about to do. He was right.
Hermione leaned forward and lightly touched her lips to his. Ron closed his eyes and put his arms on her waist. Hermione's fingers were lost in Ron's fiery red hair. After a couple of minutes, Hermione ended the kiss and looked deep into Ron's blue eyes again.
"W-what was t-that for?" Ron asked, a little shaken.
Hermione took his hand. "Returning the favor." Ron smiled. "Thanks." Hermione nodded. "Well, better go to sleep. Long day tomorrow." Ron nodded awkwardly.
Hermione kissed him lightly again.
"See you tomorrow." Ron said before going back into the common room. Hermione smiled at Ron's retreating figure. The kisses they had just shared had driven Viktor out of her mind. Hermione smiled before going to sleep.
