Tormented by his secrets, Peter finds that his relationships with all those he holds dear are in danger of unraveling. His life-long yearning for M.J. (Dunst) becomes even stronger as he fights the impulse to reveal his secret life and declare his love. His friendship with Harry Osborn (Franco) is complicated by the young Osborn's bitterness over his father's death and his growing vendetta against Spider-Man. Even Peter's beloved Aunt May (Harris), who has fallen on hard times after the death of Uncle Ben, begins to have doubts about her nephew. Peter's life is about to become even more complicated as he encounters a formidable new foe -- Dr. Otto Octavius (Molina). Peter must use all the powers at his disposal to try to stop this diabolical madman in his octagonal tracks.

I don't have enough knowledge of all-things Spider-Man to answer some of those questions, sorry. I might just ramble on incoherently.
I saw the teaser trailer this morning and it does look rather impressive. I like the fact that the Spider-Man movies have attempted something that resembles reality in terms of their setting. I don't think any of the Batmans or other superhero movies (especially Burton's) could claim the same.
Anyhow, I wasn't that big a fan of the first Spider-Man but this teaser isn't doing anything to discourage me from seeing the second installment. It looks much the same as the first, only with an eight-legged villain. I think Kirsten Dunst just has different hair; I don't think it's a wig.
The rant ends here.

The first spider man film is not the best representation to what the series was all about. To me spider man got better as the episodes went on. I know that from watching the series, an episode that contains Dr Oct. was always much more darker to watch than most others in the series.
Spider man 2 looks much darker and the story line should be a good one. What I cannot wait for is a possible Spider man and his amazing friends film to come out. If that happens and these films are successful, we could see a pairing up of X-Men and Spider Man as his friends did come from the X-Men league and try to convince Spidey to join the X-Men but to know avail as Spider Man is a freelancer. However, he does help the X-Men in a mini arc. So I just hope we see fire star and iceman pair up with spider man and his amazing friends as we might see the silver surfer then...wow.
I am convinced that in X-Men 2 we saw the birth of fire star as well....
The trailor was great though.

Actually, it is a wig. In both of them. :) There's a web log video you can watch where Kristen Dunst says she has a better wig, and on every late night show with her(For Mona Lisa Smile of course) they asked her about Spidey 2. :D

The trailer is great and this film looks great!
The one thing that spoiled the first Spiderman was The Green Goblin because he was a rubbish villain, IMO.
Doc. Ock. looks great!

EDIT: Here's the press release:
Columbia Pictures will release "Spider-Man 2" on June 30, 2004, it was announced today at ShoWest by Jeff Blake, Vice-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and President, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group.
"Spider-Man 2" had originally been slated for release on July 2. "We decided to move the film up two days to take full-advantage of the Fourth of July holiday period," said Blake. "When you have an event movie that is so widely-anticipated, it makes sense to give it as wide a berth as possible during the lucrative summer season."
During Columbia Pictures presentation on Wednesday night at ShoWest, the world's largest convention of theater owners and operators, Blake also confirmed the studio is developing the third chapter in the continuing adventures of "Spider-Man" and the next installment will be released on May 4, 2007.
The presentation featured an exclusive first look at approximately 10 minutes of the film highlighting the range of emotion and drama in the movie while also introducing exhibitors to Spider-Man's new nemesis, Doc Ock. In addition, theater owners also previewed a new "Spider-Man 2" trailer, which will appear in their theaters in the coming weeks. The session included an appearance by the film's stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, director Sam Raimi and producers Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad.
In Columbia Pictures "Spider-Man 2," two years have passed since Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) walked away from his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) and decided to take the road to responsibility as Spider-Man. Peter must face new challenges as he struggles to cope with "the gift and the curse" of his powers while balancing his dual identities as the elusive superhero Spider-Man and life as a college student. The relationships Peter holds most dear are now in danger of unraveling as he clashes with the powerful, multi-tentacled villain "Doc Ock" (Alfred Molina).
"Spider-Man 2" reunites the cast and filmmakers from the first adventure, including Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Rosemary Harris and J.K. Simmons, under the leadership of director Sam Raimi and producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel's Avi Arad. Joining the ensemble cast are Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius ("Doc Ock"), Daniel Gillies as John Jameson, Vanessa Ferlito as Louise, Dylan Baker as Dr. Curt Connors and Donna Murphy as Rosalie Octavius.

Does it look better then the first? As good I think, I can't say if its better or no until I've actually seen it
Does Molina make a good looking Doc Ock?I was a huge spiderman fan when I was a kid and between the old cartoons (And I mean old)! I had always pitcured Doc Ock to be more nerdy soemhow, its hard to describe but if you're doing a modern take on it then Molina isn't too bad I suppsoe
Do you have any opinon about the rumor of Dr Conners and Lizard? I haven't heard that rumour unless its for the third movie.....could be good as long as they don't do something too ridiculous with the effects
What do you think of Kristen Dunst's new wig? I like it! Seriously I want to go red myself!
I will be there with bells on for the first day definitely :tu: I can't wait to see it....Tobey and James...yum!

Spider-man 2 trailer to debut on "The Apprentice":
USA Today reports that the new 2 1/2-minute trailer for Spider-Man 2 will make its debut on Donald Trump's The Apprentice, airing this Thursday on NBC at 9pm ET. The clip will be shown around the 40-minute mark into the show.
"We've got to look at unconventional ways to get our message across," Geoffrey Ammer, head of worldwide marketing for Sony, told the newspaper. "Running your trailer in a theater is a great place because you've got a captivated, moviegoing audience. But if you want to reach a broader, more general audience, you need to go beyond the theater."
TV certainly has a wider draw than a theatrical trailer. Last week's episode of The Apprentice drew 22.8 million viewers. By comparison, a movie trailer attached to this week's No. 1 movie had an audience of about 4 million.
Spidey fans, get those Tivos ready! ;)
What do you think of the debut of the full trailer being attached to the show?

The new trailer was great, but it's kind of weird that they debuted it with a tv show. It's one thing if they debut it on an entertainment show, but during a commercial break of a reality show? That's just weird! I can't wait to see it. I'm so happy they moved the date up!

I saw the trailer that was on during The Apprentice last week (not that I normally watch that), and it looks pretty awesome. I remember when I saw the first one, I wasn't super excited about it, comic books turned into movies aren't really my thing, but I loved the movie, and ended up seeing it 3 times in the theater. So the trailer made me excited about the new one. Plus, Tobey was looking delish and buff :). I can't wait for it to come out. Of course, not as much as PoA.

Liselle and SilverStar--Welcome back to Spoilervillle From the trailer it's pretty clear that this sequence is the follow-up to the opening from the first trailer. Peter's not going to risk exposing his identity to both Ock and, more importantly MJ, just to keep from getting thrown around if he can buy some time by pretending to be a bystander. Besides--Gobby hit harder than that!
From the two trailers--this one looks like it's gonna absolutely rock! They made Dunst try so hard to do 17 different things in that last sequence in S-1. She was SO close to making it work, but there just wasn't enough power to do all of those things. This time, maybe, if I'm not totally freaked by her--I'm in love with you, but you're never around! I can't stand it, so I'll marry someone else!" riff, she might be able to pull it off this time because they don't cram everything into a single scene. Thank goodness! I liked the first wig, but I like this set better (especially with her angel at the window wind-blown hair look in the second trailer:D).

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's even better than the first :D. I just hope Alfred Molina can give a villain's performance as good as Defoe's was in the first film. That seems to be the only component that might be a little shaky. I liked his threat though.

SPIDER-MAN 2 MUSIC NEWS:
MTV who talked to the band Yellowcard who hope their new song will be on the Spider-Man 2 sountrack...
"We were like, 'Let's make this song huge,' " Key said of the untitled tune he facetiously referred to as "The Tentative Song for Maybe the 'Spider-Man 2' Soundtrack." "We had a goal in mind and I think it came out rad. Lyrically, it's really cool for me, because I wrote it about Peter Parker's struggle to be a superhero as opposed to being with the girl he loves."
Label politics may get in the way of the song making the soundtrack's final cut, but if enthusiasm and passion for the radioactive web slinger counted for anything, the job would be in the bag.
"I have a Spider-Man tattoo on my shoulder," Key said, "so I'm really excited. It would be one of the coolest things ever for me if we got to have a part in this."
That's actually cool. Great Band

A couple new Spidey 2 interviews:
Moviehole caught up with actor Daniel Gillies and talked about him playing astronaut John Jameson in Spider-Man 2...
"Mate, you know I am [excited], but I made it like a year ago now. I guess I should be jumping out my skin, but that'll probably come on June 30, or July 1, when it's released there in Australia", the reticent actor laughs when asked if his nerves are in tack. "I've had such a long time to think about it, and take it all in, that at the moment, I'm quite calm. But I tell you what; the film looks beautiful, bloody beautiful. I did some ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording) for a couple of scenes on it yesterday, and it looks fantastic".
Gillies said he saw Bruce Campbell's scene, among others, this week.
The actor told of a stipulation in his contract when he signed on to play John Jameson. "Yep, I had to agree to come back for the third one. No big secret that there's going to be a third one, it was recently announced publicly, and yep, I'm back. And after all, movies seem to be all about trilogies these days don't they?"
And Gillies touched on his next movie, "Bride and Prejudice", with Martin Henderson. "Yep, just did a film with Marty. It was awesome. We did it in England, and then India. It's kind of like a play and I play a really interesting character, but to tell you much more would be ruining the story. Marty plays this debonair American character, and I'm an English guy. It was such an interesting character to play – so much more than the ‘weird' movie I did before it. It wad called Trespassing and I played this psycho kid from Alabama. It was a weird film", he laughs.
____________________________
On 107.7 the X ( Alabama radio station ) J.K. Simmons from Spiderman 2 was on and mentioned his shows The Practice and Oz and somewhere throughout the show Tuttle and Klein ( the radio hosts ) began to ask him questions about Spiderman 2 and he was telling them how Sam and Tobey were really funny on set together. That their relationship was as if they had known each other all their life and he goes into detail about he is always firing and rehiring Peter in the movie. He also admits "the sequel is better than the first film, although we had no idea what a monster the first one would become. The plot is more exciting and the stakes are raised to a much larger scale." And afterwards he took questions from the listeners.

Well, I think the full trailer is much better than the teaser. Or maybe I've just seen the goofy opening sequence of the teaser with Kirsten Dunst saying "Kiss me" one too many times. At any rate, I think this is shaping up to be a pretty awesome film. Especially liked the

SPIDERMAN IS THE BEST I think the Green Goblin was the best part about it. I think
the guy that played GG was wearing one of those face masks.
One thing that puzzled me at the end was when MJ told Peter she loved him why he refused her. He has loved her since he was six.

If you watched any Lois & Clark you'd recognize that riff. It's the "I have to break our hearts for her own good" riff. He thinks that if he gets close to her she'll be in danger--well, duh! He may think better of it this time through. They tried to cram WAY too much into the final scene (well final dialogue scene) of the first film.

Well, now I know who the main audience for the soundtrack is (teens), but I'm really glad that Jet is on the soundtrack so it sounds promising, but I am surprised that they have not made any mention of Nickleback or Chad Kroeger I heard that he was suppose to make a sequel to his "Hero" song, from 2 years ago. But Jet and Train sounds promising, I just hope that they don't put Hoobastanks "the reason" song because it's gotten really annoying :grumble:
Okay, here's an update on the whole entire track of songs that will be on it...
Vindicated - Dashboard Confessional
Ordinary - Train
Did You - Hoobastank
Hold On - Jet
Gifts and Curses - Yellowcard
Woman - Maroon 5
This Photograph is Proof (I Know You Know) - Taking Back Sunday
Give It Up - Midtown
Lucky You - Lostprophets
Who I Am - Smile Empty Soul
The Night The Lights Went Out In NYC - The Ataris

News News News!
Attention Spidey Fans!
Sci Fi Wire talked to Spider-Man 2 director Sam Raimi. Here's a clip...
Sam Raimi, who directed the upcoming sequel film Spider-Man 2, told SCI FI Wire that he contemplated pitting more than one adversary against Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) before settling on just one: Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina). "Well, there were a lot of different iterations of the story, and at times there was more than one villain, and at times there were more than two villains," Raimi said in an interview. "But it all came down to trying to focus on what I felt was the strongest aspect of the film and diminishing everything else so that it could live."
~In addition to the casts appearance on Oprah, NBC's website said that upcoming celebrity appearances would include Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and Alfred Molina (on seperate occasions) for both the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien".
~The Spidey cast will be on Oprah on Monday and we can tell you already that Kirsten Dunst is scheduled to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday, June 25. Meanwhile, 'Nick' says Kirsten will be featured on Premiere as well...
I saw on Entertainment Tonight they said Kirsten Dunst of Spiderman 2 will be on the cover of Premiere magazine due out on June 15th. Probably some spidey details revealed.
I just saw the Oprah commercial for next Monday on June 7th. The show will be a Spider-man 2 special. Featuring Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst. It will probably show new clips from the movie.
Well the promos are heating up. Look around your supermarket for Spider-man on Dr Pepper Cans and Lunchables!

I've scene the Spider-Man 2 Trailer three times now and I get so excited every time! It looks really good.
I have a theory.
My first spoiler-blocker attempt...
I was thinking that the spiderman that Harry is about to unmask (or, rather, is unmasking) could be someone other than Peter. Granted, the physique looks the same, but (keep in mind I haven't read any of the info out on it, so they may not be planning for it) if they're going to do a trilogy like so many big movies are lately, they won't want Peter to find out yet. And I want to see Peter be the villain, dangit! So, anyway, I think that it could just be some random person that found Peter's outfit (costume? uniform?) in the trash and put it on and was captured, resulting in a great end to the trailer.
Any thoughts? Do you all think I'm crazy? :agree:
Liselle
June 5th, 2004, 8:45 pm
It could be but this is my theory
in the comics anyway Harry becomes the Hob Goblin...he needs something to make him "turn" from being just Harry to being well the Hob Goblin...granted not everything goes according to the comics but maybe finding out that his best friend is spiderman would be the push thats needed???
?

June 5th, 2004, 9:15 pm
Oooh, that is a good theory too!
Like he discovers its Peter and goes a bit crazy and can't kill him then because he's just so shocked, but then it eats at him until he goes to extreme measures...

The Harry Osbourne (is that his name?) character is really good looking, so thats just another bonus on top of being able to see other villians in action.
I used to watch the Spiderman animated series religiously on YTV when I was younger, and does anyone remember Venom? I hope they do a Spiderman 3 and throw him in there, he was my favourite baddie.

No.
I don't think that's possible. Because Harry Osbourne never became the Hob Goblin, but the Green Goblin, and I think what would push Harry to the edge is when he actually finds out who Spider-man is, in a way Norman Osbourne found out. I think if Harry actually pulls out that Mask and finds peter, Harry will think that Peter was just trying to be spider-man just so he could get Mary-Jane to be free. Just like in Amazing Spider-man #14 when he did the same thing only with Doc Ock, when Peter was going out with Betty Brant. Besides the way Harry dies is when he over-doses with drugs.

Oh, I hate Venom! But for a totally different reason. Yeah, he should be the next villian because Spidey's Spider Sence doesn't work on him...That'd be kinda cool to see.

BAH! my bad, I just noticed it sorry about that, I was typing to fast to realize that I forgot to add the end part of the spoiler tag, well anyways I really don't think that Venom will be in the Spidey movies anytime soon, seeing as Sam Raimi dislikes the symbiote characters (i.e. Venom and Carnage), a few of my friends and I think that the villian for spidey 3 would be Green Goblin 2 Harry Osbourne or another character but not Venom, because the whole entire story would be waaaaaaaaaayyyy to long for just one film.

Honestly I haven't paid much attention to any news regarding Spiderman 2, but I saw the full trailer for it before Prisoner of Azkaban the other day. It looks like it will be better than the first, though I have a major gripe with the CGI in the movie (or at least the trailers). Maybe they've meant to do this but every shot of Spiderman in action looks bubbly and cartoon-y, not at all like a real person moving around. Everything else looks great though. :D

Read the book, and I hope they have some of the cameos that's in it.
Peter Parker is muttering glumly (and jealously) about John Jameson and how he probably changes into a wolf when the moon is out. (Refers to Man-Wolf in the comic books where John Jameson does indeed have that problem. Eventually turning into the Star God.)
J. Jonah Jameson acquires the tossed out Spiderman costume. The drunken bum who sells it to Jameson telling him that he had to fight off two other guys for it. "Yeah, sure. And you're the King of Atlantis." (Referencing the Sub-Mariner. Particularly, Fantastic Four #4 for the geek in all of us.)
When Doc Ock is demonstrating his arms and explaining the AI and the "inhibitor chip" a doctor Henry Pym replies to Ock that the chip may not be necessary and that he had a helmet that may be able to do the same job that the chip does. When things go to pieces in that scene and the accident occurs Pym mysteriously vanishes. (Pym is Ant-Man, Giant-Man and a few other aliases, my favorite being Yellowjacket.)

Well, I went to the Spider-man 2 premire.
Meli's report
It was crowed! When every a star would come out, we would scream our heads off. Brian Singer made a nice little stop. I saw him walk by and said, "Wait, he looks familar. Didn't he direct X-men...Brian Singer!" We got some great photos of him and I got his audigraph. He was extremly nice and cool.
James Franco was awesome. He's so cool. One chick had a picture of Tobey and he said in a sarcastic manner, "I can't sign that, get another piece of paper." I got pictures of him and his audigraph as well.
Alfred Molina was very nice. He came over and we got some pics. I couldn't get his signature though. Willem Dafoe came over and was kinda scary looking, but I got his signature. I'm not sure of any pics.
Sarah Gellar was there. She's looks great. All you Buffy fans, I have photos, but she didn't come over. Marron 5 was there. Got some photos. I think GC was there, but we're not sure.
Val Kilmer came by and signed. We were all saying he was the best Batman. He responed with, "What about that Bale guy?" "Christian Bale? Nah, you're still the best."
Domanic Mohagan(Spelling? Dom aka Merry in Lotrs) was there. He was very nice and funny. I tried to get his signature and I think I got a picture.
Ted Rammi stayed longer than his brother, but still didn't sign. Sam just ran by.
Now for the Horror story...
Tobey Maguire came. I saw him. Oh G-d he looks like his photos! When he came by to sign I tried to get it, but everyone pushed up and I was stuck. I was about to faint from either him, or the fact the I was surrounded by 50 people, but either way, I would still be hovering. My mom got some photos of him though.
About 10 seconds later Kristen Dunst came. I didn't even get to see her, as I was thrown out of the crowd and onto the ground. My mom got a really nice photo of her. She's really pretty.
All and all it was a pretty nice premire, just in a really small area. If you would like to see the pictures, I'm going to make an Album for the internet over tonight and tomorrow.

They announced it about a month or so ago.
When they announced that they're changing Spiderman 2's release date from July 2nd to June 30th, they also announced that they're planning Spiderman 3 for a May, 2007 release.

Due to the cost, I'm probably not going until next weekend. And I've got to know...do Peter and Mary-Jane end up together at the end? I saw a special on the TV Guide channel and Mary-Jane asked Peter if he loved her but he said no! I think he just said that because in the first movie he said that whoever he gets close to are the ones who pay the price. I honestly think that he should tell her that he's Spiderman and why he can't love her, because if she really likes him she'll definately keep it a secret. Anyways, can someone please tell me as a spoiler if they end up together?
Spiderman 3 is coming out in 2007, and I heard recently on the radio that 4 and 5 will positively be coming out in 2009 and 2011. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will definately be in Spiderman 3.

Yeah, they do. He only said that he didn't because he felt he couldn't endanger her (all his enemies would use her to get to him), but neither could he give up being Spiderman to have her. I don't want to spoil anything more than that, though. :)
I saw Spider-Man yesterday and just loved it. It's a great film. I like the current movie trend of giving the superheroes a human side. You really get attached to Peter and feel for him in his adversity. It's quite a clever film, with greater depth than you'd expect. It doesn't insult the intelligence of the audience at all. Great setup for the third movie, also! I'm so glad that it's shattering records and getting such great reviews. I wish more summer blockbusters could be like this. :tu:

Tobey was super fantastic in Spider-man 2! No... that's how he was in the first one... He was super ultra mega giga fantawesome! Hehe. That sounds better. :D
Spidey/Peter was so emotional a lot of times... and he really made me feel and understand what he was going through, no matter how incredible it might sound... I could see the struggle, I could feel his pain and suffer... All I wanted to do was to run into that screen and hug him to death. My friends wouldn't let me! :wow:
He was losing his powers... he felt too tired... exhausted... he didn't do well at school any more... MJ got engaged... Harry yelled at him because "Peter was Spiderman's friend"... His aunt found out what happened when his uncle died...
And that wasn't fair to poor Pete.
Spider-Man: [realizes he may have recovered his super-powers] I'm back! I'm back!
Spider-Man: [falls down on a car, moans] My back. My back...
Haha - poor thing. He made me laugh, but I still felt sorry for him! He was such a jinx most of the time in the sequel. That's why I was SO glad when he became the old Spidey in the end! WOOHOO!!!! I was so happy!! He kicked ****!! And I loved it.
Kirsten Dunst = good. Very pretty, still. I like her.
Alfred Molina = great. Did a great job with his character, but I really couldn't take my eyes from Tobey, so...
Tobey Maguire = hmmm... Should I even sum him up in one word? Okay, a small phrase: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EYES EVER. Besides incredible acting skills. And a smile. Ah, the smile... *loses in her world*
But what was the greatest? Him. Mary Jane. Kiss. THE KISS, MAN!! I waited for it ALL ALONG!!! And when she finally discovered who he was, and when they kissed, I started to clap so ecstatically and to squeal so happily... that everyone followed. OMGOMG I LOVE WHEN IT HAPPENS!! I got lost in dreams... I imagined I was MJ... Ahhhh... wonderful... truly wonderful... *happy tear*
Ooh... and... if Harry's going to be the new Green Goblin, then... there is going to be the third movie, right? RIIIIGHT? Hope so. :)
EDIT: Should we use the SPOILER tags??
EDIT 2: Done! :)

I saw it again yesterday. There was this guy who kept kicking my seat and laughing at the emotional parts. When the movie ended, I turned around to see how old he was, and he was in what looked like his 30's! It was crazy.

Yeah, I just saw it today. It was pretty good...but not as action-y as I would've hoped. There were too many crying scenes...but I did like the scene where Aunt May thwacked Doc Ock with her umbrella. I laughed :tu:
EDIT: Didn't know about the spoiler link. My apologies

Spider-man 2 broke the Wed recored with 40.5 Million and reached 62.3 million after thrus. It looks like it will be breaking the five day total no doubt. Also the fact that there's a 4 day weekend with 4th of July.

Guardian Angel, I agree with everything you said (the same goes for Harry in Harry Potter......I just want to hug him........but anyway).
This film was absolutely amazing. I actually gasped at some point. Sam Raimi is a genius.........did I mention he's a genius?
I love Tobey!
Tobey's acting skills blew me away, especially in the scene where he is stopping the runaway subway. Incredible.
Alfred Molina was great! I was skeptical at first, but he definitely did it justice. It was weird because not too long ago I saw this guy perform at the Tony awards (Broadway) in Fiddler on the Roof as a totally nice guy...
Kirsten Dunst was her usual self. Good emotion, good screaming (haha).
James Franco. What can I say? He does that part so well....just like Tobey, his eyes are so expressive that they become the center of the acting. It's all in the eyes.
But when Harry was hitting Pete I wanted to throttle him. But later on when he was saying 'don't hurt Pete!' I liked him again. It's a love/hate relationship (lol).
I'm SO glad MJ and Harry (well, maybe) found out that Pete is Spidey. All through the first one I was screaming "Tell them!" And he didn't.
I was so glad MJ left Jameson for Pete. I was cheering.
There were plenty of funny parts, I loved it. "Hi. This is really heavy." lol
It was so sad when Doc Ock turned nice again in the end and destroyed his machine (and died). The line "I will not die a monster" just tore my heart out.
I liked how Jameson Sr. showed some emotion at one point. He was always kind of funny, but blunt and crude.
I still can't believe they almost used Jake Gyllenhaal for this rather than Tobey. I would boycott!!!
And there is already a date set for Spidey 3: May 4th, 2007
The studio is actually expressing hopes for six Spideys.

Oh wow....yeah, get advance tickets.
Very true, Whiteslash. Harry is a complicated character.
I read an article in Premiere magazine and here are the villians that are being considered for future movies:
MJ's ex, Jameson Jr., morphs into a Wolf Man because of a moonrock.
Pete's teacher, Dr. Connors, morphes into The Lizard somehow.
and of course Harry ultimately succeeding his father as the Green Goblin, which I personally think would be kind of redundant....
WhiteSlash
July 3rd, 2004, 7:13 pm
There's a bit of confusion with Harry though. He keeps saying that they're trying to steer away from it, but it looks like they're going strait into it...It's all very confusing.
Doc Conners wasn't really devolped in this movie, so I don't think it will be the Lizard.
I'm thinking it will be Venom because that's what all the die hard Spidey fans want. Maybe they'll be bold and put in the Goblin and Venom. Spidey would have those hands full. :)

Harry's confusing.

It was right up there with the first. Maybe even better. I just didn't find Doc Ock's Character as appealing as the Green Goblin.
I completely agree, the previews definetly built Doc Ock up to a very good, impressive villan, but to be perfectly honest I was a little disappointed in him.
Other than that I loved the movie, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!!

Who's Venom? (I didn't read the comic books).
Venom is confusing... (A sometime anti-hero) I disliked the character intensely. But then I reminisce over older comic books.
For comic-book aficionados, The Night Gwen Stacy Died (http://www.reconstruction.ws/034/blumberg.htm)
Gwen Stacy's death was undoubtedly the end of an era, a tectonic jolt that shook the superhero genre out of one cemented cycle of endless cause and effect and into a new paradigm that better reflected the socio-political and cultural sensibilities of its readers. With her passing, and the introduction of characters like the Punisher and Wolverine soon after, the next stage in the development of the superhero genre had arrived--not with a flash of lightning and a triumphant fanfare, but with the hollow snap of bone.

Classical Wizar: I agree with you, when he called her, I guess he was practicing. But I noticed that also, he was in public. But besides that I thought that it was really cool when he stopped the train all by himself. But, I still say that the upside down kiss in the first one was the best, I love that kiss. Well, besides that I think that they did a great job on the movie. Now, I have to wait 3 years for the thirs one.

Vemon is what people want though...I don't know why(I hate him for different reasons) but it might be cool to see. He's like an Alien in the Photographers body or something in the black spidey suit. I never read the comics.
Things to look out for in the movie(These aren't spoilers, just keep your eyes open)
-The Colour of Harry's Bow Tie
-On Harry's desk with all the pictures of Spider-man, there's one of the pictures that they didn't show in the first movie because of 9/11. It's Spider-man in mid-air with the Twin Towers in the back ground.
-In the Pizzaria, everyone is drinking Dr Pepper and there's a frege full of it in the background. Dr Pepper is the advertiser. That's why in the first movie he goes for the Dr Pepper
-When Peter takes a hot dog for the stand and eats it, there's no hot dog in it. Tobey's a veggie.
That's all I have right now. Stay tunned for more. :D

Hey everyone..
I saw Spiderman 2 on opening night and I must say... I loved it! I really liked the first movie, and I thought this one was as good if not better. I loved that the action sequences didn't overwhelm the film. I thought Tobey was excellent, and I also enjoyed Kirsten Dunst as Mary-Jane more this time around. James Franco, who plays Harry, was terrific. I hope to see him in more films.
It didn't bother me at all that: Mary Jane found out that Peter's Spiderman I thought it was a great moment in the movie... I felt like clapping!
My favorite humorous bit was: Spiderman taking the elevator... hilarious! "Cool Spidey costume..."
Can't wait to see it again!

Ok...I admit, as a former comic-book geek I did have a few more problems with it...
I don't believe I'm giving anything away soo..
In the comic books Doc Ock couldn't take a punch. He relied heavily on his arms to block spidey's fists/feet. One direct hit from spidey would nearly finish the fight.
Hmm...Just in case:
Catching a train... I don't recall that he could have done that in the comic books. We're speaking of hundreds of tons here. That's Hulk level strength. Spiderman is strong, but nowhere close to that range. I do remember trains crashing into the Hulk... That's always bad for the passengers of the train... One of those "Oh sheeee...!!!" *CRASH* moments for the passengers.
(And no...If Doc Ock even tried anything on the Hulk, he would have ripped those mechanical arms off and stuffed him up Doc Ock's nether regions.)
I did enjoy seeing the humanity in Doctor Octavius. When Peter meets him at home with his wife and they have tea, you see his arrogance (somewhat justified perhaps) but you hear his idealism too. That helped make this movie. That, and his attempt at redemption. He could have lived as a monster, but he wanted instead to die human. Strange how Marvel Comics tend to go that way

Spider-man 2 has made 180.1 Million Dollars in 6 days. It shattered the old record set by the Matrix Reloaded last year with 146.9 Million.
Columbia Pictures' Spider-Man 2 earned an estimated $180.1 million from 4,152 theaters in its first six days of release during the 4th of July holiday, setting a record for biggest first six days ever, surpassing The Matrix Reloaded which collected $146.9 million in the same amount of time last year. The first Spider-Man earned $144.2 million its first six days, but that opened on a Friday. For the three-day period from Friday to Sunday, the Spidey sequel made$88.3 million, which is the top 4th of July opening in history, passing the studio's own Men in Black II, which pulled in $52.1 million for the three days. For the four days, Friday to Monday, the sequel made $115.8 million. Spidey 2 also marks the biggest 5-day opening total for a film with $152.6 million, a record also previously held by "Reloaded" ($144.4 million). The $88.3 million is the biggest opening weekend ever for the month of July, dropping Austin Powers in Goldmember's $73.1 million to second place. While it didn't pass the first Spidey film's weekend record of $114.8 million, again the sequel opened on Wednesday which gave moviegoers a lot of time to see it before the weekend.

Ok, did anyone else find this moment truly stupid - or can explain why it happened.
Why when searching for PP did Doc Ook throw a car at the back of his head? He didn't know that PP was SM and if they hadn't been he would've just killed his only source of finding him. That considering why did Doc Ook then throw PP into a wall after talking to him, something that again probably could've killed the average man?

You know... I never thought of that. That really is stupid... I'm laughing so hard now... :rotfl: Then again his arms were waging a lot of control over him so maybe he was destructive regardless??? But yeah... That's typical of action movies. I loved that movie but you have to admit, there's a lot of goofs. I believe in one scene the policeman in the car is shown with nothing on his head, then the camera cuts away, then back to a stunt being done with the policecar, where he can be seen wearing a stunt helmet, then when you see him again it's off.

Those movie making guys got the idea that it would look really cool for a car to get thrown through a building. And then they thought- hey, it will also look cool if we show Peter Parker diving to save MJ in slow motion. Then they needed a place to put it into the script- well was that the best they could do? Oh well! That's not the only part of the script that doesn't make sense. Why's Doc Oc looking for Spidey at all?? Why not just keep dangling Harry over the balcony until he gives in instead?

And then they thought- hey, it will also look cool if we show Peter Parker diving to save MJ in slow motion. Then they needed a place to put it into the script- well was that the best they could do? Oh well! That's not the only part of the script that doesn't make sense. Why's Doc Oc looking for Spidey at all?? Why not just keep dangling Harry over the balcony until he gives in instead?
I'm going to go see it again! Yippie!
That's what I would've done. I would've beaten the little worm to a pulp

He threw the car because he's evil and crazy and hadn't Harry just told him to find Spiderman and bring him to Harry alive? That's why he was looking for him; he's power hungry. And Harry said he would give him Tridium or whatever.

Okay. All I can say is I'm looking at Tobey Maguire in a new light. He's beautiful http://www.cosforums.com/images/smilies/embarassed.gif *sigh* and he's really putting Spidey high up on a pedestal; really making Spidey the most celebrated superhero of all times. The movie was great! So much better than the first.

This movie was fantastic! It really exceeded my expectations! I thought that it was way better than the first one. I was super excited when Mary Jane finally found out that Peter is really Spiderman!!! I cried because I was so happy! Also, do you think that Aunt May knows??? During her "there's a hero in all of us" speech, it sure sounded like she knew...
Even with the kid sitting behind me saying "Where's Spiderman?" "Is that Spiderman?" "Where's the Green Goblin?" "Here comes Spiderman!" "That's Spiderman!" "Where's Spiderman?" "Is that Spiderman?" over and over and over and over during the ENTIRE movie, I still was able to enjoy this movie!!! I highly recommend it!!!

Dude... I so think she knows... I mean she started to tear up... and I mean she probably would have put two and two together anyway seeing as how all of a sudden Spiderman is back on the scene after she gives him that pep talk! Hee hee
about that kid, that is one thing that drives me crazy. I absolutely get livid when people bring small children or infants to PG-13 and R rated movies. I even go to the latest showing to try to avoid them and they still come. My ROTK experience was pretty much ruined by three unruly toddlers who thought the front of the theater was a playground, and when I went to go see CoS, we had to leave since the experience could be summed up as, "Harry Potter and the Theater Full of Unruly Brats." They were so distracting we had to go. Fortunately PoA wasn't that way.
When someone brings a baby to a theater and it screams, I give the parents the benefit of the doubt to take care of it. If they ignore it and it continues to scream, I don't hesitate to tell them to make it be quiet. If they don't I go to the manager. The movies are way too expensive and I am way too much of a movie fan to have the whole movie overshadowed by crying and screaming...
oh and I love how Mary Jane finally finds out Peter Parker is spiderman and then ends up with him! Iiiiieeeee!!! :D
