I can go more into depth about why passion plays and the Jesus story are seen as anti-semitic, but it would require trending onto some testy ground. In general, passion plays are not as ancient as they may seem. Some areas still perform them with anti-semitic overtones. I believe, one of the largest pogorm of the 20th century was caused by a passion play. You cannot ask a millennia old mindset to change over night. There are still many people who believe in the literal truth of the new testament. If one was to follow the logical and historical outcome of passion plays, you would not like the idea of The Passion of the Christ, too. A play can be harmless entirement, but the historical record of passion plays are not. One of the original purposes of passion plays was to stir up anti-semitism. There is more to this story than what meets the eye. It is the historical impact of the play, Jews remember and don't like.
If you want to know more about the actual why passion plays and the Jesus story can be considered so bad, contact me privately. I am just worried that I may offend some people if I go much into depth.

That's okay. I don't think anyone would be offended. I guess, by and large, I am not terribly senisitve to prujudice unless its right out in the open....
