I did a search and found no results, so shut this if there is already a thread.

So is there anyone else who likes the band Jet?
From Melbourne Australia the four piece band includes Nic Cester (guitar/vocals), Chris Cester (drums/vocals), Cameron Muncey (guitar/vocals), Mark Wilson (bass).
Their music stands for everything that is raw, primitive, direct and loose about rock music, and influences of theirs have said to include Rolling Stones, Beatles, Oasis, AC/DC, The Who, The Kinks.
If your a fan of rock music, especially old rock, Jet is the band for you!
Here is their website to read more http://www.jettheband.com/

I am a great fan of Jet, my favourite songs off their album "Get Born" are Last Chance, Roll over DJ, Look What You've done and Radio Song.

What are your favourite songs?
Who's your favourite member?

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only Jet fan here, so come on guys! speak up!

Their music rocks, but I'm not really into them in the "i want to know their exact life details" way. I like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Cold Hard Witch" the most.

 Cold hard Twitch is also a favourite of mine, but I didn't know how to say it :D

I'm trying to pick my favorite songs off 'Get Born' right now, and I find myself writing down pretty much all them. I'll list my favorites anyway...
Look What You've Done, Move On, Radio Song, Get me Outta here, Cold Hard witch, Come around again.
In case you can't tell, I'm really enjoying my 'Get Born' cd at the moment.
I thought it was funny that Macca and I wer chatting a few weeks ago and she couldn't believe I had even heard of Jet.
Did anyone else see them on SNL last Saturday with Elijah Wood?

I just got the CD, and but I haven't listened to it yet. I really like, Are you gonna be my girl.

Aranel
December 28th, 2003, 2:37 am
Hmm yessum, I quite enjoy the melodies of Jet... Quite good, and I don't usually like music that is of recent times.
I also didn't know that people from places other than Aust. knew about them...
How did you all hear about em aye?

MadMagic
December 28th, 2003, 2:55 am
I saw a their 'Are you gonna be my girl' music video on either MTV or MTV2 a while ago. I remember it because I was intrigued by the way it seems like it is being drawn (bad description).

Loz

They're popular in Britain and America. They're pretty huge by Oz standards. Like Silverchair in their hey-day!

Better Jet than Kylie Minogue, that's what I say :D

Mad Macca
December 28th, 2003, 4:56 am
I know what you mean Maggie. The album art and video clip is kindof, Revolver-ish.
I say! Jet is doing a wonder for the Australian music industry!

Oh! I love "Are you Gonna Be My Girl?" and "Cold Hard Ditch"... very catchy tunes.

Did anyone see them on SNL a few weeks ago?

I said are you gonna be my girl? :D I love that song... When ever I hear it I start jumping around the room and then people look at me weird so I stop... But then I start again when they aren't looking.

I got the CD for christmas, but haven't listened to it yet- had The Beatles on instead :p

But I love 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl?' and it's the only song I don't whinge about the radio station playing at 6am and waking me up :p

JofpGallagher

Jet is a great band and I'm looking forward fr future albums :agree:

In my opinion they are a mix between Fool's Garden and The Vines. When I listened for the first time Look What You've Done I immediately thought that Fool's Garden had a new album, later I learned it was a band called Jet and since I'm a big Fool's Garden fan, and reading other recommendations I bought Get Born. If you really like Jet, and Look What You've Done is among your favorites songs by Jet, then you may enjoy Fools Garden's tunes. But if you like the more rocker songs like Last Chance and Are You Gonna Be My Girl you may enjoy The Vines (Another Australian band ;) )

The entire album is really good, and I like many songs. I could mention:
Are you Gonna Be My Girl
Look What You've Done
Rollover DJ
Timothy

OH Jen your sister is so lucky! This isnt fair! I wanna go see them! :(

Thanks JofpGallagher! I dont really get to listen to the Vines, and I havent heard of Fool'd Garden before, but I'll keep an ear open for them! :)

Apparently Daniel Radcliffe likes 'em! He has mighty fine taste.

Well, BDO tomorrow, a few of my friends are going, and I am green with envy!

Loz
January 22nd, 2004, 8:45 am
Dan has good taste indeed.

I have to thank our commander and chief Morgoth for my liking of Jet :D

They're one of the few up-and-coming groups I don't mind them raving on about all the time :)

I've always wanted to go to the Big Day Out, but alas, it has never meant to be. Maybe next year.

Mad Macca
January 22nd, 2004, 9:08 am

Sounds like the way to go!
It's worth it though, look at all the other groovy people who's playing there! Jet, Muse, the Casanovas, Metallica, The Dandy Warhols, Black Eyed Peas, The Strokes. I don't listen to half of them, but it'd be way worth it to see Jet!

Everyones a rock star when they listen to a great song in the bathroom :P . I listened to thier album online--thier really good! It makes me want to practice guitar more often :). Is "Are you gonna be my girl" a remake? It sounds familiar...but I don't know if thats just part of thier whole sound. My favorites are Radio Song and Cold Hard (Female Dog).

I'm Australian and Jet are my favourite band! I love them! I like Rollover DJ better than Are You Gonna Be My Girl, because it sounds kind freaky when I sing it, since I'm a girl. But Dan Radcliffe's a Jet fan, which is good. :)

RubberSoul
February 29th, 2004, 10:15 pm
I love Jet. As obvious, I guess, with my sig...I love their raw sound, and the fact that they turn to the originals of rock & roll for inspiration. And I love Chris Cester's (the drummer) hat in the video for 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl'. It looks like the ones that Ringo and John wore in a Hard Day's Night.

Fizzing Whizbee, the two brothers are the lead guitarist and the drummer Nick and Chris. I tried to find a site with the names and a pic, but geez, you'd think that everyone already knew which one was which. So I'm not sure about the other two.

swishandflick
February 29th, 2004, 10:52 pm
The wierd and cool thing about Jet is that they are sort of like a unit at the moment. I don't really know thier individual names either. Maybe its just because its a new band. However, in the Red Hot Chili Peppers everyone knows Anthony and Flea, and I'm pretty sure its always been like that. Jet is just...the bestest :) .

The 18 and over rule is probably not a "real" rule. I went to see Bush in concert, at it was in a club and they were serving alcohol. I never checked to see if the show was an 18 and over show (I was 15 at the time), but it probably was. I was in London so I could get away with alot back then :) . Its a strange rule though, I don't even think Jet really curses in thier music.

dumbleedore
March 2nd, 2004, 1:38 am
The Whitlams were playing in town at the club and they were so insistant about the 18+ rule. They were having it in the audotorium where I've been so many times when they were serving alcohol but they wouldn't let me in- even with parental supervision.

SilverStar
March 2nd, 2004, 1:51 am
I've never heard of tours having age requirements!!! That's crazy!!!!! We don't have those in the U.S.........you can go to whatever concert you want!! Geez.

But if the performance is in a bar, that makes sense.

dumbleedore
March 2nd, 2004, 1:55 am
Most concerts in Australia do have age requirements- usually 18+, cause that's the legal age. A lot will have 2 shows- an 18+ only and an 18- only. That's what Dashboard did in Melbourne.

SilverStar

Jet are a fabulous group, really good. I discovered them thanks to NME (http://www.nme.com), which really tout new indie bands in the UK. Get Born was one of the first albums dumped onto my iPod when I got it. Rumor has it that Jet will be the support band at future Oasis live shows in the UK and Europe, which would be an amazing combination of musical might :D

I really like Rollover DJ, it should be number 1 the world over!!!

Mad Macca
March 13th, 2004, 8:57 am
Yeah. I was thrilled when I went to the footy the other night, they were playing some of the highlights from last season, and the song they played for background music was Cold Hard Ditch.
Oooh! In Drum Media this week they have a big ad for Jet's concerts in Australia! They are playing at somewhere in woolongong, the metro and I think it was somewhere in penrith... Anyway, they are coming back home after their US tour with a few other Aussie bands, dubbed the 'Aussie invasion'.

I think it's time to move to a bigger city :p Lucky Vancouverites today. Jet and The Vines!

I did finally get the CD (and The Vines too) and I'm so enjoying every bit of it. It's the perfect mix of slow and fun songs and Jet just sound so cool.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but apparently Jet have done a track for the new Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. It's a slow number by all accounts, I can't wait to hear, I'm a massive fan of this group, totally rockin'!

Wow, Spiderman 2? Really? That's so awesome! And I saw a Jet video on Channel [v] yesterday, it was one I hadn't seen before but I don't know what it was called. It wasn't Look What You've Done, or Cold Hard ..., it was another song. I just can't think of the name of it!

I was watching MTV the other night and Look What You've Done came on- it was number 17 in the top 20, followed at 15 by Are You Gonna Be My Girl.

It was a Jet-Liscious night :D

I reckon it could be Look What You've Done- I reckon (even though I'm not a Spidey fan) it fits in with the movie.

Yes, you're right dumbleedore, Mark Wilson told NME "It's a slow tune, it's probably the slowest (tune we've done). It's a 'Look What You've Done' kind of tune." Apparently they're recording the song next week, so hopefully we'll see it around July time on the soundtrack :)

dumbleedore
April 22nd, 2004, 1:18 pm
I might buy the soundtrack for just that reason- Look What You've Done is my fav Jet song- I might be the only one who hears this, but it's kinda got a Beatle's like feel to it...
