Ok, I'll admit it. I've gotten into watching the show Alias. In fact, I hardly miss it. I'm hooked.

But I've got a question. I know there's the prophesy about the chosen one, which is not the same prophesy as the one about the passenger (not confusing at all, honestly), but who is the chosen one? Is it Irina or is it Sydney?

And can I just say Thank Goodness the truth is finally out between Vaughn and his psycho-wife. I can't wait to see her get justice.

AWESOME! I'm also a huge fan, been one since the pilot episode. Anyway, "The Chosen One" is Sydney, definitely. Last season, Irina even said so, before she parachutes off that one building. She tells Sydney that the prophecy is about her (Sydney).

I am totally glad that the truth is out about Lauren. It's going to make for some great drama next season. Of course, the whole deal with Syd's sister is going to be huge. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that Nadia is supposed to be really evil.

Ah, but the formula has changed, young grasshopper. Now Syd or Vaughn almost get axed before the end, but somehow they make it thru. She doesn't Always get to wear the conspicuous outfits, but Sark or Lauren always come off as more evil than before. And Marshall still gets to make cool gadgets. :)

Partly, because Irina is the mother of the Chosen and the Passenger. Remember, Sloane said he received the Rambaldi artifact's message, and it was "PEACE." In Greek, Irina means "peace." So, as the mother of both girls, she was keeping the secret of the passenger's whereabouts. As Vaughn said last episode, the prophecy says Syd and Nadia will duke it out, and both of them will die. Perhaps Irina's keeping of the secret of the passenger's location was intended to keep peace between her two daughters. There are many ways to look into it. Of course, the most obvious is that Irina simply wanted to hide Nadia's location, which the box was key in doing.

Great thread! I love this show so incredibly much. It's intelligent and really keeps you on the edge of your seat. It helps that the actors are pretty convincing as well.

I kind of liked the first and second seasons better than this one, but finally the third one seems to be getting somewhere. And I like your way of looking into that whole Irina thing, AvatarofTime. Does anyone know if Lena Olin (Irina) is coming back onto the show? First she wasn't, then I heard she was...

Anyway, the next episode looks good:

Ok, yeah, that makes sense. I didn't like the part about the 2 sis' dueling it out and neither surviving :sad:

Oh, and this: and Katya expresses her attraction to Jack. is funny. I mean, didn't that kiss (after she helped to arrange the rescue of Syd and Vaughn) seem to imply an attraction? :eyebrows: I've actually been wondering where that was going. I figured that she knew of her sis' deception, and figured Jack was fair game. She's probably been interested in him for quite a while.

I'm just glad that some things do seem to get resolved in the show. For example, when Syd and Vaughn were having their budding relationship, the writers didn't let it drag on for 3 seasons before they admitted anything. And the whole Lauren thing, I think I was going to pop if they didn't let Vaughn figure that one out soon!

I'm still a few weeks behind you guys on the episodes, we're like 6 weeks behind the States in Australia, but I've been reading the episodes on the net.....

In Australia its only just been shown that Lauran is evil... but I'm guessing its like another 6 weeks until everyone knows she's evil... never did like her (although she's being acted by a really cool Australia chick!)

Overall I love the show.. with all these reality TV shows I just like to watch something that's entertaining!

Nothing is firm yet about "Alias'" future and ABC sources tell us they don't expect to know if the Jennifer Garner starrer will be renewed or dropped until May 18. With heads rolling in the management ranks of the ratings-weak network -- at this critical time of year for the TV industry when pilots are studied and decisions about the new season must be made -- you might say that many things are up in the air at ABC

Ack! I had no idea that it was even a consideration not to renew the show. I'm guessing that since Jennifer Garner (Syd) is now branching out into movies (and I think it's gotten good reviews) that they'll be more interested in meeting whatever demands she has. I'll try to keep everyone posted if I hear anything else.

Well, they've got conflicting messages concerning this...I found something saying that Alias is for sure coming back next season:
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - While ABC won't officially announce its fall schedule until May, "Alias" star Jennifer Garner says that she and the spy series will be part of the line-up.

Overall I love the show.. with all these reality TV shows I just like to watch something that's entertaining!

:agree: I totally agree!! I just don't understand the craze about reality TV. You know, we LIVE in reality, why would we want to watch shows about it?

I heard something about Nadia and Sloane. Apparently, when he injected her with that serum (the one to make her reveal info about Rambaldi), she began to draw very complex blueprints for some kind of mechanical device. I don't know what it does, though. This is next episode, of course.

I'm actually kind of excited about Jack and Katya. They have such a dynamic relationship, especially because there's so much history that we don't know about.

RubberSoul, I also heard that Lena would be returning for one episode, but I don't know what happened. There's only, what, four episodes left for this season? I was hoping we'd see her, but I'm not so sure now... I'm sure she has a lot to reveal about Nadia!

Our whole family watches Alias every Sunday evening. If we are gone, we have my mom tape it for us! It's our favorite.

I wondered if Irina's sister was actually Irina. You know, since they couldn't get the actress to renew, maybe she had plastic surgery or something like that to change her appearance. I can't believe that Irina is totally evil. Remember her famous line last season..."Truth takes time" and then she takes a dive off of that building.

And from the very first season, I would tell my husband that I bet we find out that Sloan is Sydney's father or something like that...I knew something was up with him and Irina, just wasn't Sydney, huh!

Regarding Irina appearing in Season 3 - I read somewhere that Lena Olin asked for a significant pay increase for S3, which unfortunately ABC/JJ Abrams could not or would not agree to. But like others have said, I believe she will be returning for one episode, yay! :clap:

IMO this season has been sub-par with the exception of the past 5 or 6 episodes, but I'm looking forward to see what they have in store - I didn't know until a few weeks ago there would be a sister (been staying spoiler free as much as possible).

I'm lovin the true spy family - dad, mom, daughter, aunt, and now sister. Here's hoping for a great season 4.

I'm sorry, but Alias is starting to suck. It was much better when Sydney had an actual life and actual friends who were not all spies. Come on, writers...we need a little dose of reality again...I mean, whatever happened to those late night chats with Francie? Coffee with Will? Drinks with Weiss?! I'd take those moments over green blobs and rambaldi brain machines anyday, cuz that's what made the show so good in the first place :upset:

Don't get me wrong, though, I still love the show (and have always hated Lauren, of course ^_~ ) but I want to keep loving the show, you know? :D

Then again, she can dedicate more time to her spy-life and spy-boyfriend-to-be-again. I really had hopes that they could bring good Francie back somehow, but it looks like that character is well buried. Too bad.

I have to agree with what someone said higher up that it's not as good without Syd's friends and whatnot. I miss Francie! She was such a cute character! Then she had that whole cloning thing...then the immortal thing...then she disappeared. Sydney must be a really strong person, because she's dealt with a lot. Her two best friends are gone, Vaughn is married (though not for long), her mom is a Russian spy, Sloane's always ruining her life somehow, she's found a long-lost sister.

Craaaaaazy....I don't know what the heck is going on anymore. That last scene with Sydney finding that stuff, and Jack somehow being there as well...whoa.

I was a bit annoyed by the whole "I can look exactly like you by wearing a mask!" thing. And by Vaughn acting like a freak. And by Lauren not dying after being shot millions of times. Can't complain, though- at least she finally got what she deserves... but, I repeat my first sentiment about this episode: whoa.

Ooh, a Matrix. It's possible, though! Seeing how farfetched things are in Sydney's life at the moment, anything's possible. I was also wondering why Lauren bothered to tell Sydney the safe information, because its not like she/Vaughn would spare Lauren's life; they were already way ****** off at her to care...so I was thinking maybe there is a shred of goodness in little-miss-evil. :p

Back to "the project"; Vaughn seems to have had no clue about it. He's shown too much evidence of his love for Sydney...and I think it's real love, unlike Jack's (but perhaps Jack DOES love Sydney, but loves the CIA more. I don't know anymore.) BUT if he DID know, I would hate him forever.

In the end everything will probably turn out like the Truman show. Bleh. Poor, poor Sydney. All she wanted was a normal life ;;-_-

I can't wait until next season to see what that "highly confidental" memo said, and to see if Marshall is okay, he's cracks me up so they better keep him!

Ok I agree with the above post about it being a continuation of her child hood spy training. My mom thinks that she will end up being some sort of cyborg/robot.
I think though what it will end up being is the project of when she was a child. Lauren found those documents and that's what Syd is looking at. Nothing new.

Die hard Alias fan right here. I've been watching that show since day one! Sydney Bristow kicks butt...I'm so glad they got Jennifer Gardner to play her cuz she's the best! That show is just awesome...so much action and suspence. There's never a dull moment and every episode has great. I can't wait til next season...altho i can't help but feel bad for Syd...she goes thro so much and it always seems to come back to her father!

So Melissa George might be coming back. I hope she does cause I liked in the finale (maybe because she died). I don't want to Lauren to be revived or anything but maybe in a flashback.
The finale was awesome. I think the documents might be a project concerning Rambaldi because its name was SAB47 (47 is Rambaldi's number). I hope because that could mean that Jack was also obsesed with Rambaldi.

Hiya, I was on amazon.com looking at something else the other day and on the page I was on I saw that Alias Season 3 DvDs are soon out. So I clicked and it looks like the release date is September 7th :)

I don't have ABC, so I haven't seen any Alias on TV. I've just rented the first two seasons on DVD at the library. I haven't seen any of the third season. I've heard it kinda sucked. But I still think the show should win some kind of medal for having the biggest "Ohmigod!" moments on television. They're good with the intensity.

I found a Jen Garner fansite today and got some good info, but that other one mentioned above has lots too, lol.

Yeah, it looks like they're going back to some of the original concepts - the double life, an outside life, etc. Maybe someone heard us, lol. It looks like it's going to be a seriously great season.

And it looks like my instincts on Jack were right, grrr. They need to end the series (eventually) with Lena coming back and kicking Jack's butt, lol. I do wonder what his core alliance is. He seems to be concerned for Syd's safety, but probably not so much because he's her dad, it appears.

I figured that Lauren told Syd about the papers because she knew it would shake up Syd's world, and in a bad way. Here's one flaw I saw at the end of that ep (too much HP, lol): Syd runs off to what, Germany?, to go look at these papers. Jack arrives about 5 minutes after her. So at what point does he get word of where she's going, and how come he couldn't get there sooner, if he really wanted to prevent her from seeing the papers. Like he couldn't have created a distraction that would have delayed her. It was one of those contrived dramatic moments for me, lol.

Like I said, too much Harry Potter analysis, lol.

I heard the JJ Abrams was really mad about how they kept moving the show around and skipping weeks and stuff, and he was one of the ones voting to keep season 4 until January. It will run straight through with no reruns. That's great in my opinion.

Weiss is the best! He's so underrated as a character, and they don't do enough with him. I say he's the genius behind Vaughn. And speaking of Vaughn - I had a picture of Michael Vartan on my wall that has just been ceremoniously tossed into the garbage pail after haveing just watched a tape of one of the shows from last season. Sydney needs to get over him.

Ok, and this is a weird thing to say, but there's this Kill Bill - Alias connection. Quentin Tarantino, David Carradine, Vivica A. Fox and Ethan Hawke have all guest-starred and they were also all involved in Kill Bill. Well, Ethan Hawke's just Uma Thurman's ex-husband, but anyway. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy or anything, but it's just something funny.

I never watched Alias until the last month and I rented them straight through and have now seen every episode. I am most dissapointed that Will is out of the picture. He was such a good character and was way better for Syd than Vaughn is. I just couldn't understand how she could chose Vaughn over Will in the first season. I keep hoping that he will return to the CIA and become a big part of Syd's life again. Due to the fact that he is now known to be alive he might as well. Jack is also one of my favorite characters and I hope he doesn't turn out to be totally evil. I agree that the masks where rediculous and they really pulled me out of the momentum of the episode. For some reason I feel sorry for Sarc and Sloan a lot of the time. They don't really have any redeeming qualities, I just see them as being very sad most of the time. The guy from THE OFFICE was great, it was a suprise for me that he could be so serious. I don't know if I can deal with the anticipation for HBP and the next season of Alias!

Yeah, I can't wait either. Did anyone see the last episode (it was a little hard to understand) but Sydney found the document that said her dad was the one who gave the orders to give her over to those people (it's been so long I can hardly remember their name) but it eventually ended in her memery being erased. I think he sent her over to them for a reason so she could get info but then she erased her memory to forget all the horrible things she did. Either that or her dad is crazy! The Alias premier rocked... I have been hooked to this show since I first saw the ad. I was like, that looks awesome, than the Pilot aired, and I've watched it religously ever since.

The seen with the sword theft had me freaking out, I was just like - you're killing me here. It sucks, because you know that no matter what happens Sydney will get out of it in the end (including handing from a train...) but you're just like WHEN & HOW? It kills me.

I was angry at Jack for the Derevco thing at first... cause I actually liked her - but now I want to know why Derevco put out the hit.

And Vaughan should dress like a geek all the time. He's hot like that (but he always is...)

Hmmm... I feel sorry for Weiss. He's kind of out of the loop on the whole APO bit.

I knew she wasn't going to quit, I saw it on the ad and I even said to someone online that I the trailer was just leading us on - like ALWAYS!

As for the whole APO thing in general - I love it. Sydney, Vaughan, Dixon, Jack, Marshall and Sloane on a Black Op team? The missions are going to be brilliant. They're allowed be completely illegal.

And I loved when Sydney was like "Okay, now I'm going to ask the most obvious question in the history of the world..."

Obviously it wasn't the best episode ever - but those, I find, usually happen mid-season. (Premieres of everything are never the best episodes because its setting up the season, rather than twisting the plot on you...)

I found the premier too predicatable... the only thing that surprised me was Syd's mum putting a hit on her. But other then that I was calling everything that happened.

You have to remember, they have to explain what happened between the finale and the premier (the finale cliffhanger is never the set up for the next season, it's just to make you want to see the premier) than they have to set up the new sitch for the new season. It's all business, and it's very difficult to write an episode that's all business. The mid-season episodes are always the best ones.

That's the thing with all premiers - people expect so much because it's "THE PREMIER", because they've been waiting - but the premier is just a fresh start, no plot yet. (The OC did it, One Tree Hill did it... premiers generally suck compared to finales)

And yes, I love Weiss (maybe Nadia will, too)

Yeah JJ Abrams did Lost as well, and I've seen the ads for it and Dominic can't-spell-his-last-name is in the ads for it.

Not really my question to answer, but... I am from Niagara Falls, NY, which is about an hour and a half from Toronto (I've made the trip in 45 minutes... shhhh, don't tell on me :p) News broadcasts in the Buffalo/Niagara region reach Toronto, so programming does as well. Especially if you have a satellite!

As Sydney read the secret document last season, she started crying as she read the first page. The first page had Sydney's name on it, implying the document was about her.

Yesterday, we learned that the document explained that Jack killed Irina. OK. But the document doesn't explain WHY he did it. Sydney did not learn why Jack killed Irina until this episode. She did not know Irina put a hit on her until this episode.

So why was Sydney's name on the first page of that document?

I love the show Alias! I can't believe this is a topic! (Im not saying it's a bad one) I have been a fan since my mom told me to watch it, yes, I was forced but I enjoyed it. And the premiere was on last night! The thing is I missed the second half and barly understood the first because my brother kept on coming downstairs because he couldn't sleep! Argh, at least its on again next Sunday at 4:00 Eastern Time for us canadians on CTV, channel 11 on cable :P. I can't wait to watch it then.

My favourite season so far was season 2, but i also like season 4 so far. At first i didn't like this season so much until they started to connect the episodes two weeks ago.
anyway, does anybody know if lauren is going to come back this season ( even though technically she should be dead).
