Well, finally having laid my hand's on A Perfect Circle's new CD and being floored by it, I was wondering if any one else was interested in this band or Tool for that matter.
Same lead singer, two different styles. I love both of these bands: A Perfect Circle seeming more subtle and gorgeous while Tool seems more in your face. I adore the music these two bands create, enjoy reading the lyrics of their songs (which I find to be very interesting, especially APC's "Outsider"--disturbing ), and listening to the wonderful voice of their shared lead singer.
Any other fans?

I'm bitter towards Maynard forever because he got sick and cancelled the Perfect Circle/The Mars Volta concert I had tickets for in Vancouver.
I wanted to see TMV soooo badly...so I will never like Maynard again. Ever.

I'm a fan of both. I saw Tool way back in 2001 (heh).

The mars volta suck when compared to at the drive in. and tmv kick ***. so thats saying something :P
TOOL are awesome. I simply love the lyrics in 'hooker with a *****'. also the bonus track on the end of 'opiate' is all damned funny.
A perfect circle are pretty cool. But I dont like them nearly as much as tool. I have all Tools cd's except for 'salival' :(
Im praying that the rumours for their new cd and tour are going to come true. if so, that would mean a new cd at the end of this year or beginning of next year and a likely slot at 'the big day out' here in Aus which i will be attending again (whether they go or not) BUT i dont like the chances. acording to my calculations we wont get a new cd till 2008 i think it was. if you look at the years each cd has been brought out the gap is allways an odd number bigger than the last. opiate was 1992. then there was a gap of 1 year for undertow. then 3 years for Aenima. then 5 years for lateralus. so the next number in sequence is 7 years which means not till 2008! :( im hoping this is all just coincidental. But its something the band would probably do. lol

Sorry for those of you whose tickets for that concert were cancelled. Neither APC or Tool have come anywhere near where I live from what I know. Ah well, maybe next year.
I'm simply in love with this CD. I believe The Noose is my favorite song. It's gorgeous, and the peak to the end of this song are probably my favorite in any song I've heard. I love how softly it begins and then climbs to its climax. Lyrically, The Outsider and Pet win hands down. Despite the former being very depressing/disturbing, they are some of the most well written and expressed lyrics I've ever heard from this band. Pet has wonderful lyrics as well and I read in a review that they were meant to be a comment on the state of America Pre-9/11. Gives them a whole new spin, absolutely love them. The Package, Blue, and Gravity are some of my other favorites. The latter is especially great. Alright, praise rant off.

I like Tool more, but have respect for APC.
Oy! The man got sick! I don't think he wanted to cancel that show on purpose. Did you get reimbursed somehow?
Tool should be coming out with a CD sometime this year, I believe. They have a single out.

I may have been mistaken about the single. But I thought I read somewhere that they did.
I'm sorry.

i absolutey love a perfect circle. i went to one of their concerts and it was sooooooo good. i don't know tool that well. ive heard some of their stuff but i prefer apc. someone said it was more "subtle and gorgeous" and i completely agree with it. with songs like "the noose" "judith" "weak and powerless" "orestes" they are absolutely amazing

I don't know how I missed it, but APC put out a new album (in November?) of 2004. Well, I just bought it today.
In all honesty, I'm a bit dissappointed. I suppose it was going to be hard to please me: I really liked their first album and was blown away by their second album (maybe my favorite in my entire CD collection), and now this one comes out and I listen to it and my first reaction was, That's it?! Alright, maybe that's a bit harsh but I was seriously underwhelmed. I think my problem with this was that it was almost entirely cover songs, and I love APC for their orginality at coming up with their own music and interesting lyrics. Also, it's very hard for me to like a cover song if I love the original (like Marvin Gay's What's Going On that they covered). I like the concept of a wholly anti-war CD, but I wish it had been their anti-war/peace-is-the-answer songs that they were singing.
Despite that, I do like this album. It was interesting that someone other than Maynard sang on this album. (Though I love Maynard's voice so much that he inevitably pales in comparison.) Imagine, Passive, and Fiddle and Drum are my favorites. The rest of the songs just fall, well, a bit flat.

I definitely have to say, eMOTIVe is horrible compared to their first two albums. I guess 3 Libras and the rest of Mer De Noms gave me very high expectations of their future work....

I know a few songs by APC and I really like them, even though they're not my usual style of music. Maynard has a beautiful voice.:)
Not familiar with Tool though.

I was introduced to 'Tool' by a friend just a couple of weeks ago, and was given the album 'Lateralus' to listen too. Having never listened to Tool or any other 'dark' rock band, I was surprised by Tool...Instead of the 'in your face' or simply loud and obnoxious sound I was expecting, I was instead listening to a beautiful sound...dark and beautiful. The woven melodies and harmonies are just brilliant, and I thouroughly enjoyed the album, especially 'The Grudge.'
