So what do you guys think of Ashlee Simpsons new album... I've heard it on AOL but i'm sure someone has seen it on her show on MTV. I was just wondering if anyone wants to guess how her career will go. I personally don't think that she is all that talented but her music i sjust so horribly catchy. I think that it was a really good career move to have a show right after her sister's or i doubt that alot of people would have even know about her album

It was genius to have a t.v. show, and yeah, if it wasn't right after her sister's no one would've watched. The only reason why I watched was because I had watched Newlyweds, and I had nothing better to do. She doesn't sing the kind of music I listen to usually, but now I know most of the words to Pieces of Me, and I haven't even listened to her cd or anything, that is just from watching the show. Her album debuted at number one, and none of her sister's albums have done that, so maybe she will do really well.

I really like her and her music. She does not gloat in her sister's fame. She earned her fame herself.
I don't like Jessica Simpson at all but I really like Ashlee.

I like her music and I think she is very pretty. Her show can be boring at times but I watch it anyways. I think as she continues to work on her singing she will only get better and better. I really think its nice that she went to the home for children with disabilities and sang and signed autographs.

I was REALLY upset when I saw no more than 8 minutes or so of her MTV show. She was at a sound recording of some strings for her track mix - violins, cellos, etc. While the musicians were playing away, Ashlee was sitting in front of the sound controls, filing her nails, being rude, napping, yawning. As a proud concert band member, I was offended. Maybe she was taking how-to-act-dumb-like-a-scantily-clad-idiot-on-your-MTV-show lessons from Jessica, but I found it very rude and disrespectful. If she were TRULY a musician, and not just a pop princess like all the others who do NOT write their own songs and do NOT write their own music, then she would have shown a BIT more appreciation for the music. In my eyes, she is no artist. Shes a dimwit like all the others. There is nothing special about her. At least Jessica has some real pipes, even if she is the perfect dumb blonde stereotype.

I think it was both bad and good to have a television show. The show was made my MTV and played right after Newlyweds, so a lot of people watched it...the show had the same effect as Disney's marketing schemes had on Hilary Duff...they were both so marketed they were instant "successes." However, after watching the show, I am convinced that she has little if no talent. I haven't seen her have a good singing day EVER, and she constantly tries to convince the viewer she is not trying to seperate herself from her sister while she goes on to explain how she IS seperating herself from her sister. "My sister gets to wear this hot sexy outfit and I look like a boy, blah blah blah...." Well, pardon me, I thought you didn't want to dress like her and you can't pull off the outfits she wears anyway.

The whole Ashlee Simpson craze is totally wierd to me because since I live in Canada I haven't seen her new show on MTV (I wasn't even aware she HAD one!) or seen any promotion for her new album. I saw her on Ryan Secrest Live and was really confused wondering why Jessica Simpson's sister was so famous all of the sudden. The only thing I thought she did was act on 7th Heaven! So I don't have many opinions on Ashlee Simpson, just thought it was kinda wierd I'd never heard of her!

I agree with what dumbleedore said. Her music is pretty catchy and sometimes fun to listen to, but its not a cd i would spend my money on to buy. I do like her style though. The thing i liked best on her show is when her friend Ryan Cabrera was on. He is soooooo cute and I love his music =D

well it seems to me that i am the only one to post on this that seems to like her...cause i like her music a lot...i got her cd when it came out and i havnet stopped listening to it since then. I think that her style of music is good she reminds me a lot of avril...and her songs are not only catchy...most of the ones are but there are a few on her cd that are very true...over all i think that she is talented...she is def a different style then her sister...who can hit the higher notes obviously but jessica has never had an album that has done so well.

I like her music. I think it's cool how she writes a lot of the songs herself. The show is entertaining. My only complaint is her live singing. I saw her perform on the MTV VMA preshow, and she was off key. That's reason enough not to go to a concert, but the CD is pretty good.

I'll admit that she is attractive as a brunette, but other than that she is completely bland in every aspect possible. In fact - if I hadn't happened to glance at her on the cover of some magazine at work I doubt that I'd even know she existed. Hearing her "hit" single only confirms that she is one of the thousands of artists pumped through the system in an effort to grab the money of young- and pre-teens. I heard about her only a month ago from a friend on livejournal. She told me to listen to her song called Pieces of Me and I did... It's okay, but nothing special.

Yeah, I saw the video online and it was quite funny. She knew what she did was wrong and she tried to play it off. I feel that she is a good singer at times but isn't consistant. 2. It was a backing vocal. The wrong one.

3. I have acid reflux and my voice wasn't strong enough.

Funny thing is she swore she'd never lip synch and said she doesn't respect that in a performer. Uh, ok. Her website is exploding with people being really creepy towards her though. All the major news outlets have picked it up too. :wow:

Yeah, I saw that and it was histarical! The band played the wrong song. She was right, how was she supposed to lip sync to the wrong song!:lol:. She just left the band out there all alone. I downloaded the SNL clip last night - that's pretty embarassing. I kinda feel for her, then remember she lipsyncs so... :evil:
I don't why she didn't just signal them to stop the song, and start over. I've seen that before in concerts and on SNL I think.

Apparently in an earlier magazine interview, she said she would never lip sync and has no respect for that.
Sounds very hypocritical.

And I doubt acid reflex caused a bad voice. That's just a brutal excuse by her dad. Made it worse. You don't have to have the perfect voice when on stage.

I didn't see the show live, but I've been watching it on all the news shows that have been playing it since. Deborah Norville's show on MSNBC were talking to a sound engineer about what happened, and he mentioned that they had already played the song that included the lipsync track earlier in the show, and that apparently when Ashlee's band were about to play their second song, someone obviously programmed in the lipsync track to the first song again. Oops! :lol:

He also mentioned that a lot of singers routinely combine a live performance with a lipsync track, in order to "thicken" the sound, and that this usually goes unnoticed by the audience. The problem, of course, is when you try to play two songs at one time. :cool:

After listening to it for about 15 seconds I clicked on the never play again rating button, it was that horrible. I guess she'll charm 2 year olds with that song. I also saw Jessica on The American Music Awards and she looks like she had Parkinsons or something she just kept moving around and fidgeting and her lips didn't stop trembling as if she were trying out all the shapes she could make with her mouth for one word. Ugh... it was sad. No wonder her hubby took a job in Charmed to get it on with Pheobe. (It is him that acts as her assistant isn't it?).

Ok, I doubt it looked like Jessica Simpson had Parkinson's. That's pretty mean to say. She has a really great voice and is really pretty too. And Nick was ACTING in Charms...didn't he just make a cameo appearance anyway? I think people bash Jessica so much because they're jealous of her.

Ashlee has a pretty good voice, just not as good when she's live, but I don't think people realize how difficult it is to run around and sing on key at the same time.

I like both Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson. I like the way their so different and the way it shows in their music! I think that Ashlees music is better though, i thought her album was really good! I think that Ashlee also has a better voice, only because when jessica sings she can really too much effort into it and is OTT, especially when singing Angels at the VMA's. Ashlee has'nt really become that big over here in the UK yet but i hope she does. She writes most of her songs and i think shes got talent.

Out of sheer boredom over the weekend, I watched her MTV show. It was the season premiere that was dealing with the SNL incident, so it was amusing. I think they did some damage control for the episode. I'm sure it helps that her father is one of the producers.

The SNL incident really didn't need to be the big deal that it was. LOTS of the artists of SNL lip synch. The thing is, those other artists didn't promise their fans to never lip synch. They also didn't make multiple excuses for what they did. When she came out and blamed her band that was so wrong. Since the whole back up track was planned ahead of time, blaming the band was such a lame cop out.

I've only heard her sing live twice. Both times weren't anywhere near the quality of her voice on her albums, which says a lot. I have nothing against the girl though and know she's gone through quite the professional and personal beating over the SNL incident, which is too bad.

I love Ashlee. She's pretty and her songs have meaning to them and I can actually relate to some of her songs. As for her lip-syncing inncident, it's a shame, but if people are really going to go to such measures as to 'Stop Ashlee from Singing' then they really need to find a hobby. You're critizing someone from one accident, hence the word accident. And it's not like she was using a back up for the whole song, if you heard the back up track, it just helped her vocal cords on the high stress points. And as atherella said, which I agree, so many people lip-sync all the time - not only on SNL but during preformances and other stuff. She may not be the best singer out there, but she's definatly a good role model and her songs are inspirational - which she wrote herself and didn't hire other people. I love her show, too.
