where do u get the harry potter skins from for the sims? i've got every single one on my computer in my room but i need to install it on this one - my own is rather bad and crashes all of the time!
on ways to kill them i've done them all.
1) fire - always good. cooking with no skill is an option, but for the more creative, use the firework launcher inside and watch them scream.
2) water - taking away the ladders...it'll do. but what i like to do is to build a house with a moat around it with a diving board on the roadside and ladders at the house, so that when visitors come they have to swim through the moat to knock at the door. however, the neighbours can't get back out again (because of the diving board) and are doomed to spend a life getting in and out of the moat!!!! :elaugh: :elaugh:
3) starvation - they just get annoying after a while, moaning all the time. this is how they die if you lock them in a tiny room.
4) electrocution - get a sim with no mechanical know-how to create a purple potion. another sim then drinks this and turns into a monster, breaking everything in the house. get the dumb sim to try to fix the TV and he/she will electrocute themselves. Scorching!
I did have an amazing family of all women who I would make marry neighbourhood bachelors. They would then chuck their new husbands in a room together, watch them get really annoyed, and then I'd make the guys fight each other to see who won. Eventually they'd die of starvation or one of them would leave, but it was very entertaining whilst it lasted. :elaugh:
*Happy sigh* Don't you just love the sims?
I sometimes will buy the guinea pig and make my sims play with it and not clean it or wash their hands after playing with the guinea pig, and eating without washing their hands, in the same room. they usually get sick and die. I really like the Sims. I don't have hot date, vacation, superstar, or the magic one. I really want all of those. I love unleashed. It's such an addictive game.

I agree totally, Eleanor12. I'm completely addicted. However, I haven't created any Harry Potter characters. It's too difficult.. I'm just trying to get all my Sims to reach the top ladder in their carreer. Very fun. :D

I haven't made any skins either. getting the sims to the top of their career ladder is hard. I can do it, but only if I sacrifice the things I really like about the game. because I have difficulty getting my sims so many friends. but it's really fun. I've only ever reached the top in science and "hacker". I like when they switch careers later, it's nice that they try to keep the game challenging.

I think the Political is the worst...I seem to remember needing something like 25 friends at one point.
It's a lot easier if you take the burden off the person who needs the friends. For example, if Joe Smith needs all the new friends, play with the Jones family, and have them invite Joe Smith over for a couple of nights till all the Joneses are his friends. Then go play the Jackson family and do the same. Next time you go to play with Joe, he'll have all those new friends, without losing relationship points on the old ones while they were being made.
It's still kind of tough, though, especially if you have a small neighborhood.

that's what I usually do. However, I tend, because of this, to find myself with neighborhoods populated with a couple of families I like and a lot of families that are just there to help the other ones advance in their careers. so it's frustrating. and I spend too much time not with the family I'm actually working on. oh, and i feel guilty about the families that are just there for the advancement of their neighbors. weird, I know.

Ha, ha, ha! :) I know exactly what you mean. I'm always reading these stories about how people kill or torture their sims, and think "How awful!" I can't imagine ordering my sims to do something that's not good for them, or even letting them go free long enough to screw up their lives too badly on their own. I'm either ridiculously tender-hearted or a total control freak.

I'm not in politics, i'm inthe crappy job thats like golf caddy and waitress and it switches lots. What happens when you reach the max point of your job?Do you transfer or?? Having freinds is quite broing. lol. But if you need your social bar full, thats the only thing i'll use them for. I have house party, and throwing a party is really hard, to please everyone ct. Well, I've boosted two characters to the top of their ladders, and both of them, after a couple weeks of high wages, suddenly declared to have burnout or something, and transferred to the third-level job of a different career track.
I don't know if that happens after a set period of time, or if your job performance goes below a certain level, or if you lost some of the friends you needed for the career, or just randomly.
Flossy--yeah, that sucks. :( (Know how you feel, I had to quit playing Galactic Battlegrounds because it screws up the gamma on my monitor so badly.)

Probably more tender-hearted than a control freak. After all, it sounds like what you do is always for the good of your sims. Besides, the goal of the game is to create successful sims, not to kill them off in funny ways or watch the sims screw everything up. It sounds like you're playing it the right way.

I think 20-25 is the highest number of friends possible, and you only need to keep them until you get that final promotion... I think as far as switching careers, it's pretty random.
Of course, the best way to make friends is to cheat a little... or a lot. Max out all your needs (with a download or just with the delete trick), and have lunch with a string of people downtown. Or to take some sim you don't care about to a crowded downtown lot and just make him stay there for a while (because the other sims will make friends with each other on their own while you stand there). Or of course, to just use a download to give yourself all kinds of friends. Or use the chemistry set to make love potions and chug them. Or use the magic lamp to wish for love. But both of those ones are hit and miss. I think in the new game there are some spells or something that can get you friends too...
If I'm in a real pickle with maintaining friendships, I try to always save the games while the sims are at each others houses so that I can load up, have a quick hug, save the game again, and send my good sim off to work. Kids also seem to make friends faster...
OrlisGrape
December 6th, 2003, 3:31 am
Where can you download the cheat to fill the needs? That sounds nice to me. Lol. I always cheat. the only bad thing about the deleting thing is that you lose your job and body points. Being downtown is a good way to make freinds. But they are so hard to keep!lol!
Angora
December 6th, 2003, 5:53 am
You can fill your needs with a lot of things. They have rejuvination chambers/steam baths at Sims Slice (http://www.simslice.com/), which is what I usually use so that I don't get greedy...
And of course there's the ultimate, all-purpose cheating hack... that I actually try not to use too often, the Magic Mirror at Millennium Sims (http://www.millenniumsims.com/index.php?page=objects&sub=misc&pg=1) which will max out your needs and all kinds of other cool things.
If you're going to do the delete cheat, you should save the game first. What happens is that when your sim regenerates, he reverts back to how he was the last time you saved the game. At least, it's always worked for me if I save first.
OrlisGrape
December 6th, 2003, 4:40 pm
Thanks for those!! I downloaded the mirror! Do you have to instal it or anything or will it just pop into your game?
Inkwolf
December 6th, 2003, 4:58 pm
You probably have to unzip it and stick it into the 'Downloads' folder inside your Sims folder.

December 6th, 2003, 5:13 pm
What gets me most is having babies. Even though I cheat a bit to get the person taking care of the baby happy, I usually drop everything in that household to make sure that the baby doesn't get fetched because of child neglect. And then I loose about ten friends..
About switching, I've had one guy who's switched carreer twice. Now he's been at the top of his ladder for ages and hasn't switched yet, so maybe there's a limit..?
OrlisGrape
December 6th, 2003, 6:50 pm

I have the Sims Deluxe Edition. I have a small stone house for bad Sims and Sims i do not like and put in there.
One time, I created two famlies, And the wife married another husband, and her origonall husband didn't DO anything about it!
Oh, I also once put Harry Potter himself in the Sims, and instead of making him go to the muggle school, He'd relax in the pool.
Too bad the Army took him away! :upset:
I even lost some Sims in water and fire. Sad too. :upset:
Has anyone made Umbridge become a Sim player and kill her off without the slightest bit of effort to help her live? (Erasing the door and deleting all the furnitures will make her live twice as misrebale!)
I hadn't done that yet.
Can you ever beat the game?
Also, The average lifespan for me Sims are around 3-10 days. Not looking good.

Sims in the sims do not get older. Children do not grow up. In the Sims 2, however, Sims will go from childhood all the way to old age and death, and apparently they even plan to have the children look like the parents and such (maybe even have the genetics passes down and such).
It looks like a really neat game, though I am happy with my sims and the expansion packs.
I think the job switching happens so that the game remains a challenge and worth playing.

I've heard of it happening, but never seen it. :p
BTW, the aliens appear to be investigating the Ministry of Magic...one night they abducted Kingsley Shacklebolt, and the next night they took Umbridge. (The weird thing is, nobody noticed Kingsley being gone, but they all went upstairs to cry about Umbridge, except Fudge, who is the only one who actually liked her!) Now they've been returned with their personalities reversed....which is only an improvement for one of them.

I never had the alien thing happen before, either. You don;t actually see the aliens, the character just vanishes all night, and in the morning they are dropped back out of the sky, and think about aliens. I didn't see either character go, but I did see Umbridge returned.
If the telescope is in Livin' Large, it should also be in the Deluxe Edition.
I never killed a Sim. :p But I played the Goth family once, when I was trying to make more friends for my real characters, and they had ghosts all over the place.
So, does anyone know if there are any secrets to the moose head? The file seems pretty large for something that just hangs on the wall and occasionally moos....
EDIT: Hey, I think I figured out why the aliens came! It happens when the telescope is on the upper story of the house, on a balcony...that's why it never happened before and then suddenly happened twice in a row. (The rest of my scopes have always been outdoors.)

When I first installed Livin' It Up (Livin' Large) I killed one of my people and the grim keeper came and if you have another person in your house, the grim keeper will play Rock, Paper, Scissors and if he wins, your Sim dies and if your person wins, you get to stay alive. He only comes if you have more than one person in your house.

Take all the files out of that folder (Don't just move the folder itself!) and move them into your directory for The Sims/ Game Data/ Skins

I like Makin' Magic well enough. Of course, I immediately set about doing every single spell once just to see what it did and then got kind of tired of it ('cause after all of that running around to get ingredients...). I hate the toadstool races with a passion. Somehow, my sims run around like idiots all the time except when I need them to be fast. That's when they want to have a leisurely walk.
The crystals that give you powers are nifty, but it takes so much work to get them... and I'm just not patient like that.

Angora
December 31st, 2003, 10:24 pm
Hmmm... I just cheated by juicing up all the time while I was in the superstar town thing (with the rejuvenation chamber/hacked pop machines). But that's the way I cheat at everything. ;) I suppose you could just magic mirror yourself into fame as well, but that's boring.
Actually, if you have two (or more) sims of similar fame level, and they're the best of friends, whenever you run into your friend in studio town, do a photo op or a publicity stunt with them and that boosts your fame points a bit. Always do whatever the newest object is. The only time it gets hard is when you get onto the last three things. The movie set is the better of the three because you always know the first action in the sequence.
I don't think that was helpful.
OrlisGrape
January 1st, 2004, 6:56 pm
Where did you get the pop machine? yes the mirror rocks and i use that all the time now. But do you know any patterns for the Modeling and acting ect that will be all right the first time? Because I never know which ones to pick in which order!
Angora
January 2nd, 2004, 2:43 am
The modelling, acting and singing sequences come up randomly each time. You pretty much just have to play process of elimination to do it (at least, as far as I've been able to figure out).
BUT - with the acting, you can always know the first item in the sequence by watching what the directer does during his animation at the beginning (if he puts his hands over his heart it's dramatic, if he gets out of his chair it's comedic, and if he just waves his arms around a lot and doesn't do either of the other things, it's suspenseful). I figured that one out on my own by watching the animations lots, and lots of times.
I haven't been able to pick up any similar patterns for the other two. Although I have an uncanny ability to guess the modelling ones... I think it might be related to time of day. But that's just a crazy conspiracy theory.
The hacked pop machine is from Cheap Frills (http://www.cheapfrills.org/) where they have some of the most beautiful, interesting hacks I've ever seen. To get the pop machine, you have to scroll way down the main page, because the newer items haven't been filed under "objects" yet.

Yes I find the Sim City 4 game much more difficult than the Sims alone. I can never make enough money for expansion on Sim City 4 and I do not know where I am going wrong with that game.
My favourite Sims game is the magic expansion pack. Sims doing magic is just really fun. I also like the one where you can make a potion and turn into Frankenstein or rejuvenate yourself that is really great. I spend a lot of time making knombs and getting the money I need from working at home. Then I try and get my Sim to become famous and that is difficult as you have to keep on track with it all.

I played Sim City 2000 back in the day. After an hour or so I would lose my temper and unleash a bag of natural disaters to squash them. Good times.
Years and years before that, I asked my dad what Sim City was when we were in Radio Shack and he told me it was a game "where you build a city and then blow it up". I didn't really get that until I tried to play it myself. ;)
I bought the expansion packs as they came out... so I thought Livin' Large (which is now included in Deluxe) was really cool. 'Cause it was the first one and it added all the wacky stuff, and also, this was before I could just download whatever I wanted, so it was really nice to have different walls and objects and stuff.
But, aside from that, I think Hot Date was the best one. It added all sorts of interactions, fixed the closets (I think), added the buyable clothing types, changed the relationship calculations, added interests, added a seperate area to visit... it was just really different than everything that came before it, and it changed the gameplay.
I also think Unleashed is really cool. Because I think the dogs and cats are cute, but I also like how the neighborhoods expanded, and the whole gardening thing. But I think Old Town itself is pretty lame.
Superstar and Makin' Magic are fun but they're not anywhere near as essential to me as Hot Date. Once your sim's a superstar, it gets tedious to have to take them to Studio Town every day. And even though Magic Town is really cool, once you've done all the spells once, it gets tedious to have to gather ingredients.
Vacation and House Party are probably the worst ones for me. They come with some cool features but it turns out that actually having a house party or sending your sims on vacation a) doesn't do anything for them and b) is really hard and boring. Also, every time you have five people over, it's now a "party" and you have to put up with all the party things. One thing for House Party is that if you put it together with Hot Date, you can build some cool stuff downtown. But that's all I find it really useful for.

Anybody have any tips to making Makin' Magic work that I might not have thought of?
I told my mum and dad they could send it back ages ago, but I haven't quite given up on it yet.
I've only ever got it to work properly once.

I don't think it's a defective disc. I looked on the website for the Sims and there's a whopping number of complaints.
Anyway, I solved the problem. It's so simple, but it's quite odd that I have to do it at all - I just have to restart the computer before I ever load up the game. It works like a charm, then.
Heh - 'charm'. Magic. Geddit?
I have a favourite character - there's a woman with a big black (I seem to remember it being black, anyway) floppy hat on and I've got her wearing a long green coat. She's living in a castle with a beardy husband and two daughters.
Oh, and I made a magical shopping street. It was a bit like Diagon Alley, but with less variety.
If anybody is interested, there's a bucking broomstick on this site (http://www.cheapfrills.org/). Put the .iff file into the Objects folder.

Does anyone want to help me figure out Superstar? I just don't understand how you're meant to get your Sims famous....I get them doing the cabaret and the stand up routine and then the open photo shoot etc, but nothing ever happens. Is there something else that you need to do? All of the famous people are very unfriendly to poor little me :frown:
Is the Magic one out now? I might get it....I've got every other one  Vacation is a bit pointless though and slows the game down sooo much. I don't like having Pets, but Unleashed is vital just for the extra stuff.

Have you started the Superstar career path? To do that, you need to look for the tabloid magazine, which is put at your doorstep with the newspaper. Clicking on the tabloid will reveal the option to 'find agent', which is basically getting Superstar as a career. Star boxes should appear in your 'job' menu.

I think, as in other jobs, you need to meet certain requirements (skills, friends) in order to advance. That could be it, other than that, just make sure your sim is in a good mood. :)

You know, if you're doing everything right, maybe you have a defective character...I have one character in my Sims neighborhood who never gets a promotion, no matter how often she goes to work, and in what mood. I've had her change jobs three times, but she never, ever gets any promotions at all. It's just a game glitch. Maybe it's the same sort of glitch with your character. Try the Superstar thing with a different Sim once, maybe you'll have better luck.

Have you noticed that if you start on the Slacker career track that you can't get past Night Store Clerk?
And after that, if you leave and get another job, you never ever get promoted?
What is that?!

That's strange, leenielou. If you have all your skills up to the right levels, and however many famous friends... I think no more than 10 successful print ads should have kicked it up another half star. It's hard to remember, but I don't think it should take longer than that. In fact, I think it might have been as few as six or eight.
You haven't done the delete cheat without saving or anything have you? I know if it crashes on you while you're in Studio Town, that'll screw up your fame points (because it used to crash on me all the time). Have you tried it with a different sim?

I love the sims! I have The Sims Deluxe(The Sims and Livin large). Had the original one at first, but when I looked for livin large, all they had was deluxe edition. By the way, does anybody know where I can get a free download of a hanging light for either Livin Large or The Sims? All I can find is lights for the hot date...
Inkwolf
January 27th, 2004, 3:51 am
The original Sims and LL didn't have any hanging lights: just wall-mounted, floor lamps and table lamps. You probably won't be able to download any, because the player-made furniture you download online all has to be cloned from objects which already exist in the game. So unless someone came up with a tricky sort of hack, there's no way one can be made for those versions.

Can someone help me? How do I put skins into the game? I don't know what to do. I dowloaded one and then put it into the file "Skins" on gamedata, but it didn't show up in the game/ Can someone help me with this?
Inkwolf
January 27th, 2004, 6:39 pm
Hmmm, well....usually what you download is compacted in a Zip file, and you need to open it with Winzip or Aladdin Expander or something before you can use it.
A skin will either just be an image file (which you can usually view just by double-clicking on it) to be applied to an existing body shape, or will also include a few text files which form a new mesh shape for the image to be applied to. All the parts have to be put in the skins folder.
Also, if you happen to have downloaded one of my skins, it unzips in its own folder...and it won't work if the whole folder is put inside the Skins folder. The individual parts have to be dropped into the Skins folder on their own.
Hope that helps!

January 27th, 2004, 6:53 pm
If you download a lot of things, The Sims File Maid (http://mattwork.potsdam.edu/projects/SimFileMaid/) can unzip most things into the correct folders for you (if you're doing something really complicated - like a hack that requires swapping a lot of files - you won't want to use this, but for most skins and objects it'll take care of it for you.)
The Sims File Cop from the Official Site is also handy if you download a lot of things. It'll scan your sims files to make sure everything is in working order. It doesn't catch everything, but it does catch most things.

Oooh, and the Dean sim is even smiling. Creepy. ;)
I tried making sim skins a few times but I wasn't very good at it. And I don't have the patience to learn how to make meshes, either, so I mostly download skins. I'm lazy like that.
Oooh, and I forgot to say. I downloaded Inkwolf's Dumbledore skin while I was on vacation, and it's really cool.
Persimmon Grove, the site Adalbert mentioned, has really pretty stuff. I downloaded a lot of the pond things a while ago. My only gripe with it is that most of it's purely decorative, and the things don't look right unless you put them with other things from the site. I think I downloaded kind of a curvy roof-building thing from there too that I'm very fond of.
Ophelia's (http://www.oph3lia.com/index2.html) has a beautiful conservatory roof set (to go with windows and doors) that I'm also very fond of. And for me, that's saying something, because I generally hate putting the roof sets together.

After I install The Sims with Makin' Magic, it will work about three times, sometimes a few more, and then just keep booting me on to the desktop while its loading. So rather than just give up and not play it at all, like a sensible person would do, I keep re-installing it along with all but two of the expansions. It's tedious work.
It's currently minimised on my computer. I avoid shutting it down as much as I can.
Anyway, I really like Makin' Magic. You can do so much more. I think it's the best expansion since Hot Date. I love the pet dragons and the noises they make. I had one that was a pyromaniac, but I set him free (gave him the boot) and got another one, which was much nicer and purple for some reason. My witch was called Abra Kazzam (sad), but I've lost her now and all the spells she had learned because I had to re-install.

yeah, it's $10 a month. It was such a good game, but I stopped playing because all of my friends started a mafia and started hacking into other people's accounts.
It's like the Sims except that it's an online game, and all the other sims are actual people (like all other online games). It's interesting except it was hard to be succesful, there's no cheats.

Report them. It's evil.
Anyway, thanks for the info.

Lol, it was months ago, but they were reported. Although, the mafia upheld and even made the news. They actually had quite the impact over a virtual community. Took it very seriously too. Here's their website (incase you were the least bit interested) Sim Shadow Government (http://www.simshadow.com/).
It might just be a joke now, for all I know they could have been overthrown or something like that.

Whoa...I read an article about it. There was a link to the article and I was like, "Whoa."

Lol yeah, it was a pretty big deal I guess. You may have read about Mia Wallace in the interview, she was the president I think, I used to live at her house. Then she went and started a mafia, that turned into a government.
Just a forewarning if you do plan to buy the game: some of the people are very crazy. Crazy enough to start virtual mafias and such. It's quite the interesting experience though.

Well most people build skills, like in the normal game. The more skills, the more money you make. Then with your money you'd try to open a sucessful place. Probably some place where people can build their skills.
When I used to play there were parties and a lot of cool stuff, but I don't know what it's like now.

I love The Sims. I've been playing the game for almost 4 1/2 years. I bought it pretty much as soon as it was released. I'm really excited about The Sims 2, but I have to do some major upgrading to my PC and/or possibly buy a new one to support the game. I've had my PC since late December 1999, so yeah, it's definitely not going to support this game, but the old one if fine.

I used to be obsessed with that game until I slowly but surely caught myself being sucked into the marketing ploy of all the add-ons... I must admit however that the makin' magic one looks good...
My computer is such a dinosaur it probably wouldn't support Pong :rotfl: So I always played it on my mom's computer which drove her nuts since I wanted to be on it all the time. Sims 2 looks intriguing though but I think we'd have to upgrade for that... I'm getting a new computer within the next few months so that's something to consider...

My partner is currently busy wasting time by making a mesh and skin for an R2D2 character, so that he can have a complete set of Star Wars characters in his extravagant Sims houses. It's taking him hours, and I think is a good example of devotion to the cause of Simslove. :)

The Sims is such a great game. I started playing about 3 years ago, and I just played it today~
I also got the Sims Online when it first came out. You can definately do more stuff online like interacting with real people~ But the more I played it, the more it got weird, for I saw it more as an extensive chatroom than an actual game with goals to accomplish.
O well, that's just my opinion~
p.s. Haha... I still remember where you could buy Sims Online money (simoleons) on E-Bay. Wonder if they still sells them?

I had the Sims Online, but I only used it during the free 30 day trial... My name was Lorelei Bradley, I forget what neighborhood I was in. Everyone was obsessed with getting skill points, where I tended to run around in circles wearing strange costumes.

I am a big fan of the Sims although I never tried the online version.
I have all the expansion pack - Unleashed is my favourite.
My only problem at the moment is that a few weeks ago I had to reformat the hard drive and I am reluctant to put it all back on again since I will have to start from scratch again since I didn't get a chance to back it all up.
Though at least this time I will make sure that I don't move superstars to new houses and lose all their awards, for example.
Probably put it all back on the pc in the autumn. Not in a Sims mood at the moment.

Can't you have 8 people in the PS2 version? You can on the regular pc one anyway.
I was of two minds whether to get the Sims 2 when it comes out. I love the idea that you can build more than two floors of the house and the fact the sims will remember and grow. But I am pretty sure that my pc will not be up to spec to handle it and I can't get it upgraded (the reformat mentioned in my previous post was as a result of a screwed up upgrade by the store). So I won't be getting the sims 2 at any time in the foreseeable future :upset:

I won't be getting Sims 2 soon either, becuase afetr the PC version is released, it takes a while for the Mac version to be released. And I don't think my old computer can handle more sims. It crashes alot with just the normal version. But it does look really good. I think it'll be so much better than the normal sims, I just wonder if they'll make expansions like the first version. Like SuperStar and Unleashed ect.

I think the general assumption is that they will be releasing expansion packs and that is another reason I am reluctant to buy it (assuming my pc can handle it, which I doubt).
I think that my hard drive won't have space for as many packs as they are likely to release for the Sims 2.
I think it is a shame they are not going to do any more for the original Sims though. It is like everyone has to get the new one when it comes out and the old one is obsolete when in fact it is a very good game and I am sure that there are things that I have missed. I never managed to get to the top of the beanstalk for example and I kept meaning to try getting one of the male sims to kiss the toads/frogs to see what happened.

I love The Sims- I have the first, Livin' Large, and Unleashed. I can't wait for Sims 2, but at this rate, it'll probably released around the same time as HP and the GOF movie. I can't count the number of times the release date has been pushed back.

oh my gosh. I'm so excited. Harry Potter freaks who are also sims freaks??? Yes!!!!! I downloaded the sims2 body shop a few weeks and have had the best time playing with all the features. The Sims absolutely ROCK MY SOCKS. I am an addict. I have been for about two or three years. I don't have the "Makin Magic" expansion pack because 1) I am trying to lessen my additction and 2) It just didn't look appealing.
I use the money code like no other, and send my Sims all over the place...(downtown, Studio Town, Old Town, and on Vacation). It's rather pathetic, but nonetheless amusing (for some strange, pyschotic reason).
Any news on The Sims 2? Now that is truly what I have been waiting for! Is it supposed to be out this fall?

I really like the Sims. I used to be soo addicted to it, but now I'm not. I still like the Sims but I don't play it every day. Its fun to try and make a perfect person, but some how I always fail. Also, I used to use cheats but now it takes the fun of of playing, because you never really get to achomplish (sp?) to what you were working at.
I have Vacation, Livin' Large, House Party, and Unleashed, and Hot Date. I don't have Makin' Magic, but I think I might want to try it.

Can anyone give me tips for Makin Magic? You have probably all moved to the Sims 2 thread, but I don't have that one, seeing how my computer would blow up if I even attempted to install it.
Does anyone kill sims? i like killing sims. hehehe. Is that weird? I have a magic lot, and I invite people over and kill them, so I have ghosts on my lot.
What are some ways you kill your sims?

did you know that you can sell Urns and headstones? You can create characters... whole families of like 8 let's say and kill them all, then youhave 8 headstones... do this again, create another family for the same lot, then you'll have like 16... create a third family to move in to the lot.... then you use the cheat code for moving objects... (I believe it's "move Objects_on" or something) and when you click the headstones to delete them, you get money. Not huge amounts but money nonetheless.
Also, there are places to go to download furniture and extras and such. I've downloaded a chair that when you sit in it, you get your abilities boosted. Keep sitting in the chair and eventually you're all powerful. So when you go to magic town and duel or put on shows you're more likely to do better yourself. This works with pets also in a sense when you get unleashed. There are dogbowls and other things that'll make pet abilities go up. That way when you take them to the town they will win first prize in the shows.
This took me forever to find out... but in order to make several of the potions you need dragon scales and dragon tears..... First thing you need to accomplish this is a pet dragon. don't ask me where to get one. I forget. I think Magic town but I don't remember. Anyway You have to tickle him or pet him to get tears. I think tickle. To get scales you brush him.
I just bought more RAM for my computer today because it's the only thing standing between me and Sims 2. I can't wait to install the RAM so that I can go out and spend ungodly amounts of money I don't have on SIMS 2, a game that'll take up ungodly amounts of time I don't have!!

I have the sims 2. It's the funnest game ever@ There are so many improvements! It's really really addictive though just like the first one. The funnest part about the Sims 2 is having people with a romance asperation and sneaking them around.
In both versions though it's hilarious when they start slapping eachother around when they find them cheating! Ah memories...

Buy a rocket from Miscellaneous, put it in a cheap room with nothing in, or move the objects and fire alarms out, and launch it in the room with alot of Sims! If they're in a small room the Sims in there are gurenteed to die. But I personally like to keep my Sims alive.

I must be the only person that doesnt reak havoic on her sims, I actually build them up as well as I can, but one of my women does like to poke people a lot. I dont know why though
I figured out how you delete a sim if you dont like them, like when you baby turn into this goofy looking toddle, just turn on the move objects and delete them while they sit on a chair or something. I was even turning them upside down so it looks like they are sitting in mid air.

The makers of THE SIMS have already said they're not going to make anymore expansion packs for THE SIMS, but do you think of fans created enough buzz we could change their minds? There's so much more they could do with the sims. More job paths, more houses. anyway It was just a thought.
So let's take a poll. What's your favorite Expansion pack for SIM?
You have Makin' Magic, Superstar, Vacation, Unleashed, Livin' Large and Hot Date? Is that all of them? I can't remember for sure. But those are the ones that I can think of.
Anyway my favorite is Superstar. I found it the most user friendly. The only thing I don't like about the expansion packs is that you have to return home if your energy gets too low or whatever. At home you can delete yourself and come back and in things go back up. This feature should be available in Studio Town... of course if it was, it'd make the game too easy I guess but oh well.
My top three picks are
(in order of most favorite)
1) Superstar (Gold Medal Winner in the Sims Expansion Pack Olympics)
2) Vacation (Silver Medalist)
3) Makin' Magic (Bronze Medalist)

The expansions are as follows- Livin Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed, Superstar, Makin Magic.
I agree that they could do alot more, it's a pity they stopped making the expansions, they are so fun! My favs are
1)Unleashed
2)Makin Magic
3)Super Star.

So has anyone else (other than me) downloaded any extras from the web? Furniture, skins and such? I used to go to this one site rather frequently but the guy that did it passed away. He had loads of stuff. He used to make these chairs that you could sit in and it would boost your characteristics up. I'd put like 8 of them in my house and just keep going back and forth until I had everything up at max level and then I'd go get a job somewhere. Everyday I'd come home from work I'd have a promotion! It was funny as heck! I think I've been to the top of every career track now. I've heard there's a program out there that allows you to make your own career tracks. I'd love to have that. They had a military careeer track in which you became an astronaut for a while. I thought that it'd be great to have a NASA career track where you start out as like a floor sweeper or janitor or something and eventually work your way up to NASA administrator.
Also thought a martial arts career track would be good. You'd start out as a white belt, end up as a ninja, making money as a trained assassin or something.
I think they should have done more with the sims SUPERSTAR expansion pack. Imagine putting in more scandals like say Michael Jackson's problems....
Ah well.

I have a Mac, too! :p
If they're invisible, though, it sounds like buggy skins.
The biggest Mac problem I have with downloading stuff is that some of the Windows names are longer than my old Os 8.6 Mac can handle...there's a program you can download to truncate the filenames, though. I think it's call something really original like 'Namer' :p You can also download SimShow for Mac, to test your new skins before you stick them in your game.

I like to build outhouses. I know that's stupid but I just think it's funny. Then get my sims all active. Get them so busy that they absolutely have to pee. Make sure they're one one side of the screen, far away from the bathroom. Then they'll either 1) pee themselves, which no longer is funny I must admit or 2) run to the bathroom, which I still find humorous.
For extra fun, get them in the 'outhouse' and then remove the door. Put two people in there, remove the door and before too long they fall in love or grow to hate one another. How sweet. Imagine telling that story to their sim kids... "Right there's where we...."
I'll shut up now.
