Ah yes, that vicious PC game where you can give a person a bright future or make his or her kids play voodoo with them and drown them in a pool afterwards.
So, does anyone here have a sick fascination for it? I'm an addict already. What do you think of the game? Do you belong to the group of people who presses 3333333333 so things can go faster and then slapped by reality?

You please.

I have The Sims, Living Large and House Party. That's all my old computer's maxed-out 128mb RAM can handle. I have made skins of a bunch of the Hogwarts teachers. :D

I get frustrated trying to play any more, because my game crashes when I try to add more stuff!

The Sims is a frighteningly addicting game. I have the original game but I never got any of the expansion packs. I spent entirely too much playing that game. It's the kind of game that makes you forget all about the real world. On more than one occasion I would glance at my watch on a school night to realize it was 5:00 AM and I had to be up for school in an hour. That was fun. And yes, I have caught myself hitting "3" while browsing the web, and I've even thought about it in real-life.

I like The Sims. I go for relatively brief periods of playing it continuously (like right after an expansion has been purchased) but then it sits on the shelf for a long time. Currently I've been playing it continously. It reminds me of playing with dolls, actually. I could still happily play with a doll and I'm seventeen.

My sim, Simon Strange, has killed several people and a cat. I tried to make the Dursley household once but it wasn't very good.

I like the Unleashed expansion pack. That and Hot Date are the only ones worth it.

When I first got the Sims, I played it like 7 hours a day, everyday, for like three weeks. Then, I got bored with it after the repeition of the daily routine and haven't touched it sense. Maybe that's a good thing because I have a ton of homework to do :D

I love the Sims. Love love love love love.

I have Livin' Large and Unleashed. I only use one neighborhood though...With Unleashed I think you get 8. With many many lots. I really want hot date.

Cheats... Press Ctrl Shift C... A little box will pop up in the left top corner of the screen

rosebud ENTER
Then after that get a new box and type !; and then press Ctrl Alt... A, C, V... Then hold the V. After you get to the end of the box (it ends with !) Press Ctrl Alt A C. Then ENTER. After that every time you pop up the lil box you just have to do Ctrl Alt V.

Uh... Am I confusing anyone?

A very useful one is Move_objects on ..... It allows you to pick up people in the buy mode. You can also move things to the edge of your property... Like, the very very edge. You can delete dishes, newspaper, trash, and even people.

When you delete the people, to bring them back just click their face on that panel in the live mode... The one with all the family members' faces on it. Then they'll reappear all happy.

Ooh! I love The Sims! I have them all except for the new one which I want for christmas. Well you see, at the moment, I can't play any games on my computer. Its only like two years old and it crashes whenever I try to play The Sims. My mom says the entire hard drive needs to be re-formatted...eek! Anyway. Yea, I love The Sims. I wish it was working so I could make a family of me and Sean Biggerstaff

move_objects_on is good for getting rid of frozen guests, but it can be dangerous...it's easy to accidentally delete a portal....and you never realize it until you notice that guests and the paper girl stop turning up...or the cars no longer come to take you to work or school...

Laura Patil
December 3rd, 2002, 12:54 am
I think I might have deleted the portal once... Or maybe just moved it. I used to always delete the mailbox so I wouldn't get mail, and it took me forever to realize that people couldn't come over.

I just recieved the game, now I have downloaded some stuff from the web. Stuff like Planters and hamsters and stuff. How do I get them into the game??? I'm so hopeless..

Inkwolf
December 3rd, 2002, 2:50 am
Stuff like hamsters and planters, once they're unzipped, you can just put in the TheSims/Downloads folder and they'll work.

Or you can put them in The Sims/Game Data/ Objects.

Skins have to be put in the The Sims/Game Data/ Skins folder.

Objects and downloads can be in their own subfolder and still work, but skins have to be tossed into the skins folder all naked and unsorted.

I should warn you about the hamster--if you forget to care for it and it dies, it might infect the family with a horrible, deadly, hamster disease which is quite hard to cure.

(If I remember right, before you can use the hamster, you need to have the Maxis guinea pig installed, which you can download free from their official site. Some downloadable objects you can't use unless you have the specific item they were cloned off of....so if it was made as a variation of a House Party item, you won;t be able to use it unless you have House Party installed.)

As Inkwolf knows, I'm a big fan of the Sims games! I don't have a lot of extra time, so I play it very sporadically. Over the summers and winter breaks I usually have some Sim time. I have all the expansions packs, except for Unleashed, which is on my Christmas list. ;)

But, yes, it's a very addictive game. When I sit down to play it, an hour or two can go by and I don't even notice. Kinda scary. It's just so fun to control the little people's lives, and I love taking them on vacations or into downtown (for dates even). I don't know how to do a lot of the extra stuff, like downloading skins, etc. I have no clue how to get the people to look like celebrities, and did your character really kill people Cat? Yikes. I always make my people nice, so don't let that guy in my neighborhood! My Sim neighborhood is like Mayberry I guess. It's a fun game though, and the money cheat is great. I've gotten to the point where I'm very bad about making my people go to work. I really have to start doing that so I can find out more about the careers.

I´m so addicted to The Sims it´s almost ridiculous! I have all the cool skins Inkwolf made and my neighbourhood is quite an interesting place to live in with a mix of me, my son and our cats, Hogwarts teachers and studens, LOTR and SW characters...imagine living in a place like that for real! :D I tried to make some skins myself, but I only did a few, since I find it to be very difficult to do. If you are curious you can see them at http://www.geocities.com/harmonicangel2000/harmonious.html
I have all the expansion packs except for De Luxe, but when I get that one I might be able to create more skins using the Sims Creator.

Well, back last Spring when I quit, I had a half-finished Flitwick, with plans for Lucius, Sprout, house elves, and a couple others. Don't know for certain if I'll get back into it--have to see how I feel about it and how much free time I have this winter. ;)

Do those links have stuff for Macs?? I'm always getting frustrated because I can never download any of the sims skins.

Inkwolf
December 4th, 2002, 12:16 am
Triki, I have a Mac, too! :D My site has Mac versions of everything.

It isn't that hard to convert PC versions of skins over, once you know what you're doing. You just need to change the names that are too long for the Mac, both in the filename, and inside the file.....you can usually open the CMX and SKN files right in Simpletext and adjust them.

So, something like B200-BODY-PELVIS-UGLYDUDESLEATHERJACKET-biker.skn (which won't work because your Mac cuts off the end of the name)

Open the SKN and CMX files......change the name, wherever listed, to B200-BODY-PELVIS-USLJ-biker.skn or something...

There's also a downloadable app called Namer which allows you to drop the SKN files on it and (you need to know the full filename, which you can get from opening the SKN or CMX in Simpletext usually) enter the full name, getting a name-coded version that the Sims for Mac will recognize. You should be able to get Namer from the Aspyr site or maybe thesimsresource.com. I use it, it's very handy, though it makes your skins hard to recognize by name. :)

Hope I didn't get too confusing there....

Where do you get the stuff to create skins? I want that SO bad...

Inkwolf
December 5th, 2002, 2:56 pm
Weeeeelllll, you can download some stuff from Maxis or Aspyr....but unless you're making a custom mesh shape (like adding Dumbledore's hat or something) you can make new recolor-only skins in any paint program, even Paint. :)

You just have to remember to make them 256-color indexed BMP's, and name them to match your mesh (skn) file.

A great place to go for info on making your own skins is the message board at www.simfreaks.com--that's where I learned almost everythign I know! I think they have tutorials somewhere, too.

Here's an actual skin BMP, so you can see what it looks like....this is Lockhart's pajamas....

Does anyone have the new expansion pack, Unleashed? I got it for Christmas, and I think it's really an excellent addition to the series. I love the Old Town feature, and the homes are finally integrated into city environments (with stores, parks, etc.). And I've been going crazy with getting pets for my sims. It's really fun to take care of a pet, and some of the animals are so cute. Anyway, what does everyone else think of this expansion?

Inkwolf

seashell323

I could not agree more Laura! I use that "rosebud" cheat far more often than I should. It's so much nicer to use the cheat and get all the pretty furniture, flooring, paint, etc. than to get all the ugly stuff because it's cheap. ;)

I hope you're able to get the new expansion soon Inky!! :D

I'm DYING to get The Sims Unleashed. I recently got the Vacation pack and I'm loving it!! the only thing that sucks about having a mac is that you have to wait for the game to go through the Beta stage and all that stuff to convert it for macs...which gets on my nerves because the Sims were originally created for us, apple users.

A few days before Christmas I played on The Sims and one of my families had a Christmas party. Somebody broke the espresso maker, somebody peed on the floor, my Sim man and another man got into a slap fight over his girlfriend, the toilet got clogged and then everybody went home because they were hungry...

Ah, don't mad at me but I didn't like it. I played for about an hour and I get bored. I like the other Sim. The Sim Cicy 3000 Unlimited. Waiting for Sim City 4 which comes out mid Jan. It's the game that you build your own city or empire (If you don't know). If you like The Sim, you might like Zoo Tycoon. You build your own Zoo, pick your own animal, even Dinosaur. I'm quite the Sims person myself.. I have Livin' Large(though Livin' It Up sounds cooler *shakes fist*) and Hot Date.. I'm going to get the rest here soon though(Unleashed for sure). I've downloaded my share of add-ons and houses, nothing too impressive. Coolest Harry Potter things i've found are those large, I think they are, tarps for the houses and Hogwarts. I haven't found anything too impressive with the skins. I'm not very good at the game, furthest with a job i've gotten is getting picked up in a viper.. yea then I lost my friends and haven't moved up since. I like to build, I usually give my sim(in the "cheating neighborhood") some extra cash and build huge houses or just small ones.. I tryed Hogwarts, thats still comming along, slowly but it'll be finished sometime..

When I first played the original Sims, I was amazed at how addictive it was.

After a while, though, the whole "living" thing got kind of boring for me. I started making people and spent all their money on 20 different bathrooms, made houses with nothing inside them except for a sink, and so on, and so on. It's much more fun to watch Sims living without toilets, that's for sure

Apples, your Hogwart's Castle is excellent! I'm sure that took a long time to make, but it was well worth the effort. :) Shay, where do you find the LoTR skins? I'm awful at finding skins; I usually end up sticking to the ones that come with the programs. I also have a dial-up modem, so I'm always afraid the downloads are going to take forever. And Triki, as far as I know, Unleashed also costs $29.99 (I got it as a gift, so I'm not positive). You might want to try to find it under the software section at Amazon.com. :D

I LOVE the sims! But I can't figure out how to download things and get them into my game, I can get them to just sit on my hard drive but how do you import them into the actual game?

Anyway, I've only got Livin' Large and House Party, and I'm a total addict. I've actually made a two houses of CoS people, and it's really funny to just watch what they do when you aren't telling them to do things. I've given them all the personality that I think the person has and how they interact can be really surprising sometimes.

Well, first you have to open the zip files they're in. (It's surprising how many newbies don't know this! :) )

Then look in your The Sims directory/folder. There should be a subfolder called Game Data. Inside that is a subfolder called Downloads. You can put most furniture and stuff here, or you can put it in the regular folders (objects for furniture, walls for walls, etc.) There is a folder labelled Skins, and if you download a skin, you put all the files from it there.

Then the next time you play, if the new stuff is okay and complete and installed correctly and if you have the appropriate expansion sets to run them, they should appear either in the people selector, the 'buy' screen, or the build options, depending what they are.

And yeah, that castle did take me a long time to make. I just wish there was more that I could have done with it. I am a major Sims fan. (In fact, I originally heard of this site on a Sims site). I've been playing the game pretty much since it was originally released. I have the original and all of its expansions, but I don't have The Sims PS2, Sims Online, or Deluxe.
I'm a download addict, and while there are some limits for objects and skins, it's really limited more by how much space you have on your hard drive. I've never had any problems with downloads.
I tend to go through phases where I play it all the time and then phases where I'd rather read or do other stuff. Right now, I'm on a down phase, but I'm starting to feel the itch to play again.

My computer can't physically take that, and it is very jerky on the Sims unleashed, so until I get a better computer and want to get addicted to it, i'm calling it a day. I've fought hard to end my Sim obsession hehe. I still go on it though, but I don't have any Harry Potter skins!

I went to my friend's house the other day, and she has The Sims Deluxe Edition! I really want it, because it has an easy program to make skins for your sims. You can even make guys wear skirts!:rotfl: I am obsessed with getting new skins and objects off of the internet. :)

I made mine the old-fashioned way....by learning first to paint over old skin BMP's, then by using other people's custom meshes, and finally I started learning to do my own meshes.

Well, the Sims is a very interesting game, and was very innovative when it got out. I remember being highly addicted to it then, but to be honest I've became bored of it. The expansion packs are OK, but they don't add anything really different. However I'm looking foward to the Sims 2.

OOh, me am a Sims maniac, :wacky: I spend countless of hours perfecting my so called world..... and yes, I do have a life. It's a fascinating game that you can spend hours on it without realizing that you have, and also it's an endless process, you can dl clothes and objects to your liking, what's more to ask for? Personally speaking, I have every expansion packs with the exception of the Sims Online (I have never wanted that one.) and the Sims Superstar (It's quite new and I'm still deciding whether or not it's worth it.) :grumble: But yeah, Sims great, I would go on but then those of you in here would want to murder me :D

Well I just downloaded 'The Sims' 2 days ago and I'm hooked. I also downloaded the 'Snape' skin from Inkwolf's site and have put him to my will!
I also have the CSI sim characters and Nick Stokes is currently living with the diabolical potions master.
Nick amazingly enough, got a job as a lab tech whilst Snape is working for the military. Both seem pretty happy, though Nicks skills with Mrs. Goth aren't very good.
Snape gets on well with everyone... which is odd. :??:
Soooo.... does anyone else want to share their HP sim stories?

I would just like to post this bit of news from TLC which I'm delighted by!

The Sims Creates a World of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Electronic Arts recently announced a new expansion pack for The Sims tentatively titled "Makin' Magic" with all sorts of impressive features. Sounds a lot like "your world - my world, your parent's world" - Harry's world.

Some of my favorites include:

Every spell has a unique Backfire (Ron)
Cast Spells to take care of your Sims’s needs, keep up the house and cook meals (Molly)
Travel via the Magic Portal to the all-new Magic Town location (Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley)
where Sims perform magic and duel (Dueling Club/H vs V/DA at the DoM)
Trade, quest, and shop with Gypsy Vendors, the Vampiress (KnockTurn Alley)
New decorator set, including moving paintings, creaking stairs, and twisted trees. (Hogwarts?)
I may just buy Sims for this so I can go to Hogwarts, Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley with fellow fans and hang out.

YAY! I can now start my Snape and McGonagall family like Inkwolfs nd have them live in a hogwarts environment!

More info here (http://thesims.ea.com/us/news/makin_magic_features.html)

Thats the website to go to if you want to download a Snape, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Gilderoy, Rita Skeeta or Hagrid sim person. There are also links to get HP houses and objects.

Whats happening on my sims at the moment...... well you'd never believe it but Snape and Nick are a couple! They share the same bed now, isn't that nice?
They're both improved their cooking dramatically and Nick nolonger sets the stove on fire every time he cooks. Its all going pretty well. Nick dances to improve his 'fun' rating and Severus likes to play on the computer.

A Makin' Magic Sims sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully, I'll be able to whip out a wand and create a little more havoc in their lives. ;) Actually, I'm just being goofy because I let my Sims have fairly peaceful lives. But, it sounds like an excellent idea. I had no idea that many computers had trouble running Superstar. Mine works perfectly, and even somewhat fast in comparison to how the game was with the other packs. I wonder why so many computers can't run the game?

Virtuousdream
July 14th, 2003, 3:17 pm
because the graphics and quality of the game improves and slower computers can't cope with it.

:'(
Yes it's true!!!!! I'm a fan of the Sims!!! :'(

Okay seriously, I love the Sims games. I think it is a lot of fun, only in small doses. If I play it too long it becomes old quickly, unfor. the latest expansion pack has caused me to not be able to play it at all.
Why exactly? Well they haven't put out a patch for this problem, heck I don't even know if they have a patch for SuperStar yet,but my Sims keep on vanishing into thin air. But I finally fixed it to a slight degree and they now appear in the gray off screen type area, still uncontrollable.

Anyway, I do love the Sims and I cannot wait for Sims2 ... the only down side is I have to buy a brand new system in order to play it.
:'( *looks in wallet sadly*

But I will say this the console version of the game is a blast too ...
for a while .. once you beat the 'get a life' it can get rather boring...

I'm looking forward to the next expansion. I've tried to create a Harry Potter neighborhood, but was unsuccesful mainly because you can only have two floors. I'm going to try an Ankh Morpork/Discworld neighborhood, where the Downtown area will be the Shades, the Studio Town area will be Holy Wood, the Holiday area will be a mixture of Uberwald, Djellybeybi and XXXX, and the Magic Town area (which will come with the new expansion) will be Unseen University.

I only got the Sims a couple of weeks ago (how have I managed before? Oh yeah, these forums..). Anyway, I really want an expansion so I planning on getting it for my birthday. My problem is that I don't know how to buy those two incredibly expensive houses in the nieghbourhood. How do you get enough money?

Virtuousdream
July 19th, 2003, 2:10 pm
There is a password, but if you don't have any expansion packs, it wont work and I can't remember the first password for the original sims because it was really long and weird

I'll put it in spoiler the expansion one for making a thousand simolians on the expansion packs

you need to press cntrl shift and c at the same time, bringing you up a little box. typing "rosebud" in will get you 1000 simolians. If you want to repeat the last password and make lots of money, just type "!;" again and again to up the amount of money you want.

That won't work on the normal one though, but I think it was something like clapaucious. I'm not sure if it's the right spelling, but keep trying similar virsions on that or google it.

Oh and The Sims 2 is coming out on the PC so you can have 3 story buildings, and maybe even a basement! OoOoOoOoOoOo I can't wait!  :wow: :rotfl: :elaugh:  :agree:

I always wanted a 3 story house, it annoyed me you could get only 2...YES!

I also really want the kids to grow into teenagers. That would be fun. Apparently the sims 2 makes them age and die of old age.

its true. your sims will age, die of old age, and when two sims have a baby, their offspring will have similar features which is a great thing! I cannot wait for The Sims 2 to come out, im so excited! lol!

same, yet it will be sad to see my sims die...imagine snape getting old and dying...must try to get him working tomorrow.

I think there's an option to switch off ageing.

Max
August 3rd, 2003, 6:56 pm
Lord Ventari: Hopefully there is, but ageing really adds a new layer of immersion with your Sims. Who can resist seeing the life of your Sim play out right in front of your eyes?

Virtuousdream

I suspect you can switch off aging. I can keep it on for families I want to die :evillaugh: and turn it off for my faves.

After all, you can control their free will in the game.

What's this about a Spellbound expansion pack? Sounds cool! And what about Sims 2? When does that come out?

I have Living Large, House Party, and Unleased. :agree:

The Sims IS addictive! I have The original Sims game, Unleashed and Superstar. My computer's really slow though, so I really can't enjoy the games without the computer freezing on me. :grumble: It's strange, because I could be really addicted to the Sims for a week or so, and then forget about it. It's a never ending cycle...

My favorite expansion pack is Unleashed. My one family has 6 dogs and a cat. And they live in a one room house.

Squallour's funny - remember the Hicks from Unleashed?

My family that I am working on at the moment is the Frankensteins, and is composed of three sims: Victor, his wife Helga (not Esmerelda, but then it isn't much like the book), and her cat Malkin. Victor's a mad scientist, earning 1,000 a day (not including the hordes of garden knomes he creates in mere seconds), and Helga is a cult leader, earning 1,500 a day. Victor's got his own 'little area', which is accesible by moving a bookcase in their immense library, revealing a teleporter which takes him to his laboratory, where he makes numerous potions and fiddles around with house robots. Helga is at the opposite end of the spectrum, and has items like crystal balls, voodoo dolls and genie lamps. Once I heard about the Spellbound expansion, I immediately cleared a huge attic room in preperation for building Helga her own 'little area'. They've got a very nice house, which I have successfully managed to make into a very large castle, complete with dungeons, secret passages, a hedgemaze, ghosts and a very large library; it's a little like Hogwarts, really.

Brilliant job, Lord Ventari. I've never had much success with my sudden urges to build Hogwarts-esque castles, though I've managed to make them at least a bit like luxury spas, unfortunately. I love the secret entrance with the moving bookcase -- interesting. :p

I can't wait until the Sims 2 comes out. It sounds really cool. My favorite expansion pack is probably the Sims Unleashed. Sims Vacation got boring quite quickly and my Sims are having a lot of trouble in Sims Superstar, probably due to a lack of effort on my part though. It seems really cool, if I could get my stupid Sims to actually sound good.

Does anyone else kill their Sims? I was disscusing killing methods of Sims with one of my friends, another friend sitting with us thought it was terrible that we killed off our sims. I know it's not very nice, but it's just so funny to see a Sim catch on fire and fall the floor looking like the Wicked Witch of the West. Has anyone else sent any of their kids to military school? I desided I didn't want my kid anymore so I just had him stop studying and eventually he went away to military school. tehee. I'm such a mean Sim commander.

I sometimes put them in the swimming pool and then take away the stairs so they drown.

I've done that before. I told my mom and she called me an evil child but she laughed and told all her friends. I don't get parents sometimes.

 I don't do that anymore, but what I do is to get a Sim with no cooking skills to cook the others their lunch, stuff everyone into one room, fill the room with flammable objects, and sit back as the hilarity ensues.

I also stuffed one of my Sims into a 2x2 room before with no way out, but I think I'll leave that for later.

The Sims is a lot of fun. I have the Deluxe edition, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed and Superstar. My favorite thing about The Sims is downloading items, skins, etc. There is just so much out there.

I find the Sims Superstar is a lot easier if you fill up at least half of their creaitvity points before getting an agent.

ahh cool, I love the Sims!
I love making Snape overly-possesive with my main sim. He had a fight with my Kane sim, hilarious to watch :elaugh:
But in the end, all was well:

where do u get the harry potter skins from for the sims? i've got every single one on my computer in my room but i need to install it on this one - my own is rather bad and crashes all of the time!

on ways to kill them i've done them all.

1) fire - always good. cooking with no skill is an option, but for the more creative, use the firework launcher inside and watch them scream.

2) water - taking away the ladders...it'll do. but what i like to do is to build a house with a moat around it with a diving board on the roadside and ladders at the house, so that when visitors come they have to swim through the moat to knock at the door. however, the neighbours can't get back out again (because of the diving board) and are doomed to spend a life getting in and out of the moat!!!! :elaugh: :elaugh:

3) starvation - they just get annoying after a while, moaning all the time. this is how they die if you lock them in a tiny room.

4) electrocution - get a sim with no mechanical know-how to create a purple potion. another sim then drinks this and turns into a monster, breaking everything in the house. get the dumb sim to try to fix the TV and he/she will electrocute themselves. Scorching!

I did have an amazing family of all women who I would make marry neighbourhood bachelors. They would then chuck their new husbands in a room together, watch them get really annoyed, and then I'd make the guys fight each other to see who won. Eventually they'd die of starvation or one of them would leave, but it was very entertaining whilst it lasted. :elaugh:

*Happy sigh* Don't you just love the sims?

Bwahahahaa! :)

My niece was over last week, and playing The Sims on the computer, and it gave me the urge to play again. :)

I deleted my old, messed-up version, and am happily making an all-HP neighborhood. :) Families moved in so far:

Snape, originally living alone.
Me, now living with Snape. (no comment)
The Death Eater family (Lucius, Narcissa, Rookwood, Bellatrix, Karkaroff, Draco and Pansy)
The Staff--Pomfrey, Pince and Vector. (Pomfrey's got the Medical career, Vector has the Hacker career, but for some game-bug reason she can't seem to get promoted, and Pince is in the army.)
The Lockhart Family--Gildreoy the slacker, and Rita Skeeter the journalist

Still waiting to move in are:
The Hogwarts family--Dumbledore, McGonagall, Harry and Hermione
The Ministry--Fudge, Umbridge, Kingsley and Tonks
Hagrid and Madame Maxime
The Odd Family--Sinistra, Hercule Poirot and Admiral Thrawn. :D

Heh, heh, heh...the addiction has struck once more! I probably won't make any new skins, but I may make some new robe designs for use with the meshes already on my characters.

If yo haven't got the Magic Expansion, get it. It is extremely funny. I had fun with my Saruman sim, who recently beat Gandalf at the duelling arena - well, it was Gandalf the Grey.

Oooooh I love the Sims. My sister bought the game but I too got addicted quickly! We have the Deluxe Edition, Hot Date and Unleashed. I uninstalled it though, cause it was taking up too much space on the pc. I had a family called Armitage whom I sent from rags to riches without cheat codes! Can't wait for the Sims 2 though, 'cause those Sims are really dumb. I hate it when one Sim has to go to the bathroom and all the Sims are standing in there so he wets his pants. There are a lot more instances of dumb Sims. Once I drowned my Sims, because I wanted gravestones. I told my mum and she said something like 'the poor things' and she thought that I was twisted. :elaugh:

 I came across a site with Sims from Tolkien's stories. The owner had built a house called Valinor, where all the Valar lived. They had a swimming pool to kill ordinary Sims. There was also a house called Thangorodrim, which Morgoth and Sauron shared.

Wish I could...my old computer doesn't have enough memory to handle more than the two expansions I've got. As it is, I have to watch it when adding new items, because I get major crash failures if I overload the game with too many add-ons.

I tried out Makin' Magic a while ago, and it was pretty cool. The whole part where they jump in a magic hole to transport themselves to magic town cracks me up. But I don't have room in my houses for all of the paraphenalia you need to have to do magic. Right now, I just stuffed it in somewhere and it looks weird.

When Superstar came out it used to crash my computer all the time because it wasn't technically good enough to play it, but I forced it to anyway... but then my dad gave me hand-me-down hardware from his computer, so now it can chug merrily away. Dads are good for those things. ;)

With my very first sim family, way back when, I too took them from rags to riches without cheating. But now I cheat like rotten because I don't have the patience for anything. Also, I would have to keep installing and uninstalling, so my sims always lost all of their friends... so then I downloaded the famed magic mirror, and it all went downhill from there. :)

I used to always build neibourhoods with an evil sim and a sidekick for the evil sim, and they would kill their neighbours in all the possible ways... because I too wanted gravestones for the yard.

Before the new expansion pack I was in an interior decorating phase where I would either make or download all of this beatiful furniture and spend, like an hour doing their houses up... and then not play with them at all.
