View Full Version : The Amazing Race

Searched through the forums and was shocked not to find a thread for the emmy winning Amazing Race! This is such a great show and this season is shaping up to be one of the best, plenty of conflict, bad decisions-make-good-entertainment moments and you have a strong feelings about the teams, you either love them or hate them. Last night's episode was a sad one that saw Charla and Mirna get eliminated. They were a real feel good story with Charla proving to everyone that little people can compete with taller people. They were my favorite team and will be missed. My two other favorites Chip and Kim and the Bowling Moms. I hope one of those teams win. I hate Colin and Christie!! He is so dispicable, pushing Mirna in one episode and saying the whole race "we have to beat the midget" Loser. Brandon and Nicole are hipocritical bible thumpers(reality shows almost seem to be required to have one now a days) and Karli and Kami are weak racers and ride others' coattails

Last night's great moments
*Charla and Mirna not being able to open the clue envelope and ripping it to shreads! :rotfl:
*Conflict at the airport, that jerk Christie :td: had the audacity to try to block the door at the airport even after Mirna said excuse me. Charla just ran under her arm and mirna pushed her other arm away Mirna-"out of the way B*tch!"

Anyways would love to hear what other people think about this great show! Can't wait till Colin almost gets thrown in jail next week!

Well I love The Amazing Race as much as I love Survivor (maybe even more so). I loved it at the end of last nights show when Charla made her little speach and got all teary eyed as well did Phil. I swear he almost started to cry! I love Phil  , he is a way better host than Jeff on Survivor in my opinion!

I liked Colin/Christie from day one until that incident at the airport :grumble: They are now on my hit list as well as the twins and the bible thumpers! For the final two, I would be happy if either Chip/Kim or the Bowling Moms won as they are the nicest people and seem to be having a great time doing the race!

Yeah! I love the fact that Chip/Kim and the Bowling Moms are enjoying the race and appriciating what they see. The others just seem to be rushing and not taking in everything.
I forgot to add Phil crying as a great moment!! Some of the best stuff on reality tv ever!! I think Probst is the best host though, he's been around for longer and has a bigger role, so I actually think it's unfair to compare the 2.
I still love Survivor more, the first reality tv show i ever saw, it started the craze and I've been with it since ep. 1. I bought a Morgan buff from Pearl Islands and a Chaboga Mogo buff from All Stars and have every episode on tape except for 2. I bought season 1 on dvd and plan to buy all stars on dvd. Anyways I only got into Race 3 episodes into the 2nd season, but now,it's my second favorite reality tv show. I'ts great that it's broadcast after Big Brother. And twice a week, I need to tape this weeks episode(on tuesday i taped the olympics!). oh yes i tape every episode of race too!

Probst has been around a long while but from his humble begingings to the new Survivor, I think he has become a bit smarky, cocky and perhaps a little arrogant, JMO! Phil is just plain adorable and it must be a great feeling to come to the end of such a long race, to be greated by Phil (except when you come in last), I am sure Charla & Mirna could agree! Where as Jeff keeps probing and prodding for information out of the contestants making him seem a bit anoying to me.

By the way Boston_Rob_Rox, have you seen Mrs. Slocombe lately? :rotfl: I love Are You Being Served!!!

Personally I'm a fan of both Phil and Jeff and strongly feel that they should go out for a beer and be best friends and watch football every Monday night together. Yay!

Anyways, Amazing Race is my second favourite reality show next to Survivor. I was really rooting for Charla and Mirna, although I thought Mirna was really annoying the first couple episodes.

Likes:
Bowling Moms
Brandon and Nicole (they haven't done anything to annoy me yet :D)

Strong Dislikes:
COLIN AND CHRISTIE!!! The nerve of Christie to block the doorway for Mirna and Charla like that! And Colin not being able to eat the EGGS... all I can say is big, whiny baby!!! It's EGGS for crying out loud!

Somewhere in the middle:
Kami and Karlie (they don't seem all bad, they're just followers)
Chip and Kim (they really irked me a few episodes back by fighting over a cab with Kami and Karli. Plus they're the ones who seem like the bible thumpers of the game to me!)

I agree with you all that Phil tearing up over Charla's little speech was SOOOOO CUTE!!! I just wanted to big him a BIG SQUISHY HUG! It doesn't hurt that he's drop-dead gorgeous, either. What are they feeding these reality TV hosts?! Well, at least Phil and Jeff (the dimples!).

I've been a serious follower of the amazing race, but this season it seems like I've always had something on tuesday night. and I forget to record it. so I've missed the last ocuple episodes. (shame on me!) but I love Brandon. he's so sexy. and I swear that he is on a big poster outside of the store Buckle. He is a model after all. and I really like colin and christie.

Brandon has been in a few risque modeling shoots for someone who talks about the lord so much every week. Great scene a few weeks ago: Brandon and Nicole screwing over a couple other teams by switching flights without telling them. They're standing at a pay phone near an escalator, and as they're on the phone, a group of nuns goes down the escalator and "holy" music comes on.haha!!
I would love to be on the Amazing Race with my sister, too bad I'm too young. It would be fun, and I'd get to meet Phil!!! That would be cool if him and Probst were good friends, they're on the same network. Maybe they meet up at wrap parties. hmmmm. Maybe Phil helps him plan out all those dramatic entrances at the survivor finales. LIke flying in on a helicopter and going in on a jetski.
Colin and Christie have a strange relationship, Mirna completley nailed it a couple weeks ago when (I think) she said he was dominating and she just submitted. She looks scared to say anything around him.

By the way Boston_Rob_Rox, have you seen Mrs. Slocombe lately? I love Are You Being Served!!!
Of course!!! And I am unanimous in that!haha!! I have the 2 dvd boxsets that cover the entire series. I watch it every day!! Mr. Humphries!!! "I'm free" I love Young Mr. Grace!!!

Anyone see this week's episode? Colin is such an idiot!!! He is just so pig headed and stubborn. Blaming Christie for the whole cab thing when he was the one that wouldn't pay? *rolls eyes*

FoxyKnoxy
August 29th, 2004, 3:26 am
I was so hoping Colin would have been arrested in Kilimanjaro! What was he thinking not paying the taxi driver? That to me just shows why people in the rest of the world perceive Americans as arogant a**holes! I just wanted to reach into my TV and strangle him, I was amased that Christie didn't after that episode! He acted like a little kid who didn't get his way!

I don't know how the twins are going to make it now without money? When the Bowling Moms were out of money, the pit stop was at a point where tourists stoped by so they could easily beg for cash. But what about the twins, they are in the middle of the desert! There would be no one there to give them money!

I was laughing at the people who kept gettng stuck in the desert sand dunes while off-roading! It looked like fun.
I don't know about you, but I would have rather stayed at that funky hotel with the helopad than at that desert oasis pit stop!

The preview for the next show looks like Colin is doing a road block and is having another of his hissy fits again as he seems totally frustrated with the task of building something! I hope he loses!

i love the amazing race. i want chip and kim to win. i hated charla and mirna, they were so hypocritical. first they said they didn't need help and then mirna runs up to a guy in a golf cart and asks for a ride because little lady cannot run. plus i found them both very annoying. i don't have anything against little people but charla was so annoying.

OK I am sick and tires of seeing teams that should have been eliminated, getting off easy with these stupid non-elimination rounds! They just had a non-elimination last week for peet sake and now Brandon and Nichole get a second chance!?! :grumble:

That is really dumb! I couldn't stand their prissy attitude to the Fast Forward, they only had to shave thier heads and they would have been in first place! If it wer me, I would be like: "it will just grow back anyways so shave it off!" They said they couldn't go throught with it because they are models and their hair is a big part of their lives. Yeh but it DOES GROW BACK!!! Stupid!

Colin again drives me nuts with his constant hissy fits and angry attitiude toward Christie. He makes me sick! :td: The twins I don't like but I would rather see them go forward than Brandon and Nichole.

The Bowling Moms were getting frustrated but hopefully they get their act togther and make it to the final two! :tu: Chip and Kim again were having a good time while doing the challenges and I really hope they win this game! :agree:

I really hate those non-elimination rounds!! Brandon and Nicole should have gotten their heads shaved- it's gonna grow back anyways!(though they would have looked really funny!) LOL!!!
I was having deja vu when Linda got in trouble for not paying the taxi driver. It was pretty much the same thing that happened to Colin last week- I thought the Moms might have to go to jail!!

God wanted Brandon and Nicole to shave their heads. My entire evening was ruined was they passed up the Fast Forward. Plus I'm tired of people making really horrible mistakes and avoiding elimination. I wonder how they will make out begging for money in a nation where begging is a way of life.

And since Colin has come close to emitting bricks from his posterior on numerous occasions, why did he have so much trouble making them the normal way?

Last night, I really missed Charla and Mirna. Especially the way Mirna scared Phil. Boy, I sure hope Chip and Kim or Linda and Karen can pull this off, because C&C have won what, six legs now? And I won't be happy if they win the whole thing. Please, karma, kick in soon!

Colin and Christie are so annoying(wow that's almost how I start every single post)Remember in the very begining of the episode when they were like we want Chip and Kim to be in the final three, and then Kim in a voiceover said "We want Colin and Christie to self-destruct" HAHAHA!! I would've loved to see the looks on C@C's faces when they saw it on tv.
Non-elim legs do stink. I would've loved it if Charla and Mirna's elimination leg had been a non-elim leg. They were more entertaining than Kami and Karli and Brandon and Nicole. The best team gets eliminated and 2 stinky teams get saved, not fair. At least it shows the show isn't rigged because you'd think that they'd want to keep the Charlas and Mirnas of the race instead of whiny Brandon and Nicole. At times like this, I almost wish it was rigged(like Big Brother, haha)
When Brandon and Nicole were last, I looked at the clock and there were 10 minutes left I think, so I knew it was a non-elim leg because there was too much time left, so that rained on my parade. When Brandon was like "God wants us to stay in the race" I was like, maybe he made you go for the fast forward so you'd fall behind and get eliminated!!
Funniest moment of the night, Colin failing to figure out how to make the bricks, Christie tries to help him, he pounds the ground and shouts "I'm packin' it" Me and my sister have been waiting for that moment for the past week since we saw it in the previews. Definatley worth it, we were laughing for like the rest of the episode.
FoxyKnoxy and MMELevrier, definatley Chip and Kim and the Bowling Moms all the way!!

I love the Amazing race! The worst thing was that I missed the Charla/Mirna elimination day because of work. I hated them. Good Riddance, I say.

I'm usually bummed out by the non-elimination things, but I like the model/bible thumper couple (how oxymoronic?) so I was glad they got to stay. The fact that they refused to shave their heads did bring them down a couple of notches in my book. That was so prissy :td:

Chip and Kim are my favourites to win, but they have the dumbest plan I've ever heard of. Build up Colin's ego? It's so clear he does badly under pressure and well when he thinks everything's okay. Duh! And does anyone else think he might grow up to be a very abusive husband? He's my new villian after that Kenya episode. He was so disprespectful and obnoxious. They should've thrown his a** in jail!

I absolutely cannot stand Colin and Christie. UGH!

But I quite like Brandon and Nicole, and I can see why they didn't shave their heads, especially Nicole. Brandon could've but what's the point, Nicole couldn't, so it'd be for nothing.

The twins using their "charm" for money was hilarious. Also hilarious were the creepy men staring at Christie and Colin going "I'm gonna bust some a**". I laughed so hard at that one. He'd probably girl-slap them or something.

Right now, I'm really not liking Chip and Kim (they just seem... stupid...) and Colin and Christie. I'm still rooting for either Kami and Karli, Bowling Moms, and Brandon and Nicole.

Colin is so insane, I can't even believe it. Christie really needs to dump him when the show is over...
I was hoping Brandon and Nicole would have shaved their heads. That would have made me happy. It's funny that it would happen to the MODELS.
Chip and Kim are currently my favourites, but a lot of them kinda bug me...

This is a good show... but don't you hate it when a team you don't like gets to stay?

Boston_Rob_Rox
September 1st, 2004, 11:47 pm
Christie should dump him, but she won't because she has no spine. Next week she supposedly "asks for respect" *rolls eyes* She's just going to be talking about going the right way in the race, and not tackle the actual issue of him dominating her. Typical.
I wouldn't have shaved my head, but I wouldn't have gone for the FF. That was a dumb move. Brandon should've just slowed down to figure out how to make the bricks the right way. They lost way too much time.

Surprise, surprise. Colin and Christie came in first place and won yet another vacation :grumble: Colin wasn't as annoying as usual today though. Brandon adn Nicole, on the other hand, were just stupid for wasting all that time. Did they give up or make it? I missed that part. The twins are gone but I didn't really care for them.

My new goal in life is to go to New Zealand and ride that plastic ball! What was it? A Zorb? It's the coolest thing and in the end, it looks like it just gave birth to you :rotfl: So weird. Well, nighty night guys. I've got school in the morning :upset:

OK this had to be one of the funnest legs of the race so far!
On tonights episode, the teams could either play in the mud and look for clues (fun but slow) or go down river rapids by sledging (very scary but cool)

Then with the road block, they had to go down a hill in a Zorb which looked very cool and fun! It would be like an enclosed waterslide :tu:

Well the twins are eliminated and the Bowling Moms are in Second Place.

I think I recall Phil saying there are 4 non-elimination rounds duringthe entire show and three have all ready been done (#1-Bowling Moms in Egypt, #2-Twins in Dubai, #3-Brandon/Nichole in India) thus leaving one more stupid non-elimination round left to go. :grumble:

FoxyKnoxy
September 15th, 2004, 4:11 am
I loved tonights episode! The whole theme was: eliminate Collin and Christie at all costs! It was great to see all the other teams gang up and try and take those two out. Chip and Kim used the yield on Cloin and Christie before they could do their task. They had to wait and watch the other teams finish the task and leave before them. Wow was Colin ever mad!

Then when they got to the roadblock, each team had to plow a feild using an ox and an old plow in mud to drag up a rope with the next clue. Everyone figured out that both members of the team had to help work the plow and direct the ox while looking for the rope except Collin and Christie! Collin as usual, dived in and did things on his own with Christie yelling at him and telling him that he wasn't doing it right, all in the while she didn't want to go in and help because it was too muddy! :rotfl: What a diffunctional pair!!!

In the end Chip and Kim came in first place winning a trip to Hawaii. Next in second were the Bowling Mom's followed by Nichole and Brandon. Collin and Christie came in last but were saved because it was the last NON-ELIMINATION round!!! :grumble: I Hate those things! So next Tuesday is the 2-hour season finale! Lets hope any team besides Collin and Christie win!!!

These darn non-elims are ruining the race!!! 4 teams in the finale is too many. they won't be able to focus on anything.
Christie is such an idiot. how does she figure it's unfair for chip and kim to use the yield. hello...earth to christie, it's not unfair if it's in the rules, you could have yielded them before but you didn't. Maybe now colin will see pigheaded actions have consequences.

Psycho Bob and the woman he abuses? Ya I was really P***** that they got to stay too. I offer my home to that woman so she can get away from that nutter before he kills her for talking when he can quite doing something right. He seems to be able to get ahead only by abusing people. What a loser. Hope she watchs the show and wakes up. Not really into The models they are kinda weak in character and selfish. I love The Amazing Race, has anyone started watching the new one yet? Thought it was funny when the girls from New York started following the other teams for an hour and a half before realising they hadn't finished the task yet.

Anyone watching the new Amazing Race? Jonathan=Voldemort.

The show is great, but the thing that always bugs me is how the teams invariably get bunched up at an airport or at a task where they have to wait for the place to open...I always wonder why they even bother having the teams start at different times when they'll all just catch up to each other at some point anyway.

I'm watching it.

I love the show, but hate the entire Jonathon/Victoria side story. That man makes me sick! It's sad when I don't want to let my son watch this because there are behaviors I just don't think are appropriate to be showing. I understand this is a reality show, and we are seeing real behaviors, unfortunately, it isn't a behavior I really want to see on my television. I think J should have been thrown out of the race after the backpack incident. Not fair to her, but they are partners and the rules are the rules.

Looks like Victoria gets hurt in tonights episode and Jonathan is screaming at her and the other teams again! I agree, Jonathan & Victoria really need to come in last! They are irritating beyond belief!

Did you know that Amazing Race 7 (http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|93015|1|,00.html) is going to air Tuesday March 1, 2005!?!

I love this show but they really run the risk of ending up like Who Want's To Be A Millionaire and lose their fan base due to overexposure! I think airing reality shows once a season/year is plenty especially for shows like the Amazing Race, Survivor and The Apprentice. I mean there is a reason I love Big Brother and that is, it is a summer show and always be a summer show for me. I couldn't imagine watching it three times in one year as it would get very repetitive and dull. I think that is why I am finding these new Survivors boring compared to the earlier ones. Once is enought for me!

Update! Jonathan & Victoria ARE THE LAST TEAM TO ARRIVE! I AM GLAD TO SAY BOTH HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM THE RACE FINALLY  I have been waiting all season to say that! What an emotional episode that was! Jon & Victoria were very abrasive, loud, and abnoxious as ever. Adam and Rebecca actually had the gauls to yeild Freddy & Kendra! What morons! I am sure that will bite them in the butt next time around! I have always rooted for Lori & Bolo but even they get anoying at times. This season's crop of contestants is terrible as there isn't many teams to really cheer for at all. I'm still happy Jon & Victoria are done! Yeah!!!

I am soooooo glad that Jonathon and Victoria were eliminated today! FINALLY!!!

Those two just got on my nerves. Although from the previews it looks like there is plenty of competition to take their place as the 'fighting couple'. That all just gets a little over the top. I think it's one of the reasons I liked Chip and Kim last season. I never remember seeing them tear into one another.

Wow...March 1? That'll be three in a row, as this one basically started after No. 5. I think you're exactly right...I liked it when they just showed it over the summer. I watched the first three seasons of Survivor religiously, but I tired of the show once they started starting the new season right after the previous one had ended. I watched the All-Stars version, but mainly because it had people from the first few shows coming back! I don't even bother with it anymore. Maybe I'm not remembering the early seasons very well, but also, the Amazing Race producers seem to be using more and more "dating model couples" as contestants and less teams like Chip & Kim, Gus & Hera, etc. I'd much rather watch a team like Gus & Hera than 5 sets of twenty-something models who I can't tell apart!

Anyway, it was wonderful to see Johnemort get the boot tonight. Someone who treats his wife like that does not deserve to win one cent as far as I'm concerned!

I've also decided that Phil Keoghan (10 bonus points to anyone who remembers him from "Breakfast Time" on FX) may well have the best job in the world, although he probably doesn't get to spend much time in all those countries he visits. All I know is that I'd sure love to visit as many amazing places around the world as he gets to with that show, and get paid for doing it! He probably gets to fly first class too...

I'm glad Jonathon was eliminated. Tonites episode made me really want to visit Ethiopia, the place just looks amazing. They definetly needed more entertaining people on this season. Like the clowns from the one a couple years back, my favourites by far.

My 9 year old wants to go to Ethiopia now also! :D

He loved getting to see all the kids running around the area. I have to agree What a gorgeous place and great people.

Whoever said Phil has the best job wasn't lying!!!! :)

Bump for last night's episode.

It looks like next week will be a non elimination week, since the TV guide listings have the final episode beginning with 4 teams.

Go Kris & John!!! :D

Looking forward to tonights episode. Yeah - who would have thought that Ethiopia would have been so green and beautiful. That's one reason I love watching the show - they go to so many beautiful places Imay never get to see otherwise.

It was gorgeous!

That's really my favorite part of the show, seeing all the various areas of the world, and some of the different aspects of their cultures. It's so amazing, and really beautiful. I especially love when we get to see interaction with the locals. :)
