Are You Afraid Of The Dark? premiered on Nickelodeon on August 15, 1992. There were some great episodes. Which ones do you remember? which were your favorites?
I remember the episode about the little boy who made prank calls, and the "phone police" came and took him away, something like that. But my favorite was the one with the two little girls who somehow became stuck in the Doll house, gradually turning into dolls themselves.
Check out this (http://www.pazsaz.com/dark.html) website that has the names and dates of the episodes. Have fun.
--I did a search came out I didn't find anything on this topic.--

Ha! I loved that show! My grade six teacher used tape the show and let us watch it in class (don't ask), so it was pretty much the first and second season that we got through. I don't remember anything in particular, except for that guy who owned the magic shop: Mr. Sardo (accent on the O).
But when I saw Prisoner of Azkaban I nearly died of laughter in one part. Did anyone find the scene where Harry first sees Sirius "The Grim" Black outside that creepy dew-covered park totally remeniscient of the opening sequence of Are You Afraid of The Dark where the swings swing on their own in the scary darkness? Oh, it was so funny.

I loved that show! I used to watch it all of the time on snick. I remember the episode where there was this cemetery and there were new kids in town. They made friends with other kids but I think that all of the kids turned out to be ghosts or something. There was also a shack and a harmonica involved. If anyone remembers this one help me fill in the blanks.
I also remember the one where the kid gets stuck in the pinball machine and he is in the mall.
My computer is being stupid and it won't let me click on the link.

I remember that episode. That was an awsome episode. There was an old man and he chopped wood or something like that. There was this one scarecrow that did good like, fixed the farm up and then tore it down. but wanted to kill the owner of the farm. The little boys broke the window while they were playing baseball. Too many thoughts at once

Oooh that show used to freak me out, haven't seen it for *years*. Thw two episodes that stick in my mind are the one at the Fun Fair where a kid steals the red nose off a clown model...and it comes back for it *shudder*; and also an episode where a kid buys some funky glasses, and starts seeing mysterious figures shrouded in black...creepy.
Is it still being shown on Nick?

I liked The tale of the red Bicycle where the guys best friend died in childhood from losing control of his (red) bike on a bridge and falling over the rail into a river where he drowned. The guy blamed himself for not being able to pull his friend back off the bridge and never really forgave himself for it. Years later he started seeing the dead friend, and thought he was going nuts. He thought that the friend was out for revenge, but he was really trying to warn him that his brother was going to die in the same stream he did if the guy did not get there in time.
I also loved the tale of locker 22, where they wound up changing the past.

:rotfl: I thought of that too when I saw PoA!
I used to love this show. My brother and I would always watch it at my grandmother's house on Sundays (we don't have cable). I remember it used to come on in the evenings.
The only episode that stands out in my mind (albeit vaguely) is where this girl is in a car accident in a graveyard and her ghost comes back and haunts the graveyard... or something like that. Forgive me if I'm totally making this up. :D

I remember that show. It was great. The one with the camera and the troll or something in the corner that would show something bad happening. I wish they showed reruns of that show. The one where the kid had to write a paper for school and he used an old typewriter and everything he wrote came true. That was a good one.

I haven't seen that show in ages! It used to really scare me. I loved when they used to say "This is the story of the (fill in)" and then throw dust onto the fire. Then at the end they would extinguish the fire and walk off.

Was that were she was waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up for the prom? And she met the 2 guys and got them to help her figure out what to do so she could move on, but they didn't know she was until she told them.

I loved this show! The two that I remmeber most clearly were the one about the school's pool, and there's this big slimy monster in it...(I thought I remembered more, but I guess not!) and then the one with the witches in the woods, and there were these keys...and the two kids were in the woods and got in a fight over the compass or something and split up in two directions? And then they both found the witches and one had to save the other and the witches wanted the keys? I think. And one of my favorites was Station 109.1 (I think that was it) and the boy was obsessed with death and everything, and his older brother worked at an auto shop and there was a hearse brought in, and the little boy went inside and the brother locked him in, and the boy started to get scared when the creepy station went on, and then over the radio they gave an address, and the boy went there and it was like the place all the old people and dead people go after death, and the boy didn't belong there, but the owner guy didn't believe him and tried to make him go, but then the door spit him back out and took the owner instead. And then I remember the Tale of The Prisoners Past, where the class took a fieldtrip to the old jail, and they showed the cells and everyone saw the tunnel that one guy dug to escape, and then some kids went through the tunnel, I think, and there were all rats and skeletons and all these creepy things. And the last one I remmeber, I only remmeber the ending of. The guy gave them a riddle, "What do you put in a barrel to make it lighter?" and they got it with only like 5 seconds to spare. "Air." Wow, my head hurts from trying to remember all these now!

My favorite episode, eh? Tough decision. I got three nominees.
1. The Tale of the *something* Ghost - the one where there was the ghost of the boy who froze to death and the only thing he could say was "I'm cold...". That episode was strangely creepy.
2. The Tale of the Dead Man's Float - the episode where there was the corpse in the pool and it started attacking the swimmers. Made me paranoid of pools for about 2 weeks...
3. The Tale of...*something something* (I forgot the name!!) - this was the episode where there was that book that told of a medieval king, or something. The scene where the spirit of the king(?) was gliding down the hall towards the camera kinda ranked a 9.5 on the creepiness-scale for me...

 Oh, I was obsessed with that show when I was little. Every second it was on the tv, I watched it. I saw every old episode, but none of the ones with the new group of kids.
I think the episode where the two girls were lost in the woods was the tale of watchers woods I think. The 3 witches, more like old ladies who were stuck cause they lost their whistles when they were girls first getting lost in the woods around 1900 or something. There was a creepy watcher who controlled the woods and could make them move.

I was SO afraid of that show LOL. A few months ago I saw a repeat of it and was like "This is such a cheezy show!" But I still love it ;)
The Tale of Badge, The Tale of the Thirteenth Floor, and The Tale of the Hatching were my favourites though.

Aaaah, that's where it was from! Half the time when I say "I'm cold" I think of a creepy little ghost kiddie...lol, I remember that now.

I loved watching that show! My favorite was the dollhouse one, as mentioned in the first post, where two girls get stuck in a dollhouse that's like their house and they turn into dolls. And I liked the pinball one- but I only vaguely remember it. I think it was this show that had the episode where two kids went into this old house and it was haunted and really weird everywhere, like the paintings were alive or real people or something. I really don't remember anymore- I was quite young when the show was being aired. I wish that I could watch it again- they should show reruns on Noggin or something.

I thought of Are you Afraid of the dark too, when I saw the swings-swinging-by-themselves scene...
One episode that has stuck into my mind and I don't know why, maybe Remus Lupin has something to do with it, is the one where there is a boy who is a pet detective and he's looking for a lost cat when he finds out that there's a werewolf living next door. Then the werewolf starts dating his mother or so he thinks but he is actually the werewolf's twin brother and the werewolf looks like an abnormally hairy monkey. The boy has always wanted a dog and in the end he sort of gets one because the werewolf's twinbrother and the boy's mother get married and the werewolf who is actually friendly lives with them... That was complicated... :P

Ah... I used to watch this show when I was a kid... *has memories of his childhood*
I don't really have any "favourite" epsiodes (mainly because they scared the hell out of me ), but a couple I remember as being particularly frightening were the one with the vampire in the cinema (Midnight Madness, I think) and the one where the guy has to stay awake forever in case the freaky red things got him. Also there was the one where their car broke down and they had to go into this freaky old house...

I used to love and hate this show. It was so good, but it scared me so bad each time I watched it! It gave my little sister nightmares so she was banned from watching it. :p
I can only remember a couple of episodes though. I remember the doll one that was mentioned above, as well as the one with the radio that went past 108.0 that was also mentioned above. And I remember one that had Tia and Tamara Mowry from "Sister Sister" in it. But don't ask me what happened in that episode... I think there might have been a well involved?

Oh I used to love 'Are you Afraid of the Dark?'! I can barely remember any of the episodes without having a reminder. I remember 'Dead Man's Float', the Doll House one, the 'Ghost' one (with the cold boy), and...most of the rest is just little bits and pieces. Since the show ended when I was about 10, I'm really not surprised the rest is foggy, though. I wish they'd release a DVD collection of all 5 seasons. They'd probably be surprised to see how many people would buy it.
And now I remember what it was that I thought was so familiar about the swings at the beginning of PoA. I always loved the beginning of the show, with The Midnight Society meeting, and that's why that scene seemed so familiar. Totally cool.
EDIT: Wow, I did a bit of searching and found this website:
http://www.tvtome.com/AreYouAfraidoftheDark/season1.html
It has descriptions of every episode, in all seven seasons. Now I remember Tale of the Twisted Claw and Laughing in the Dark. And as I continue to read the descriptions, a lot more are coming back. Check it out.

It was about Lizards who would bite you twice and the next time that you came into contact with water, you turned into a Lizard and the lizard who bit you became you.

They show reruns, on Family/Disney I think it is. Aw man, I started watching it again and that episode in the fun house... on the outside there's a huge dragon on the front of the clown place and I thought it looked so familiar. Finally I realized it was filmed here and I've been on that exact ride, except it's a Haunted House in reality. It's in an amusement park called LaRonde.
I keep seeing now famous people in the episodes, like Rachel Blanchard (Clueless, 7th Heaven) and Hayden Christensen who was in the episode with some mysterious thing that aged people, but was afraid of the light. The werdest one was the one with the 13th(?) floor with those aliens. I can't remember too well if this was Are You Afraid of the Dark or Goosebumps but it was something where a kid was at summer camp, and he thought people kept disappearing but it turned out they were all in on it and it was some sort of test.

I used to be so scared of that show! The opening is still really scary to me.
I still remember some of them. Like the one in the library and everyone goes silent, and the makeup, and the swimming pool monster one and the firehall ghost. The last two really scared me. And those two guys that always had the same main character. And they fought over Sam, too.

Oh man, I just remembered that when I read this! Yeah!! That one was weird..the kid's dad was like in NASA or something I think, and they had all this equipment, and the kid was contacting aliens, and the parents weren't home or something...and there were all the webs all over. And the kid was like wrapped up in webs or something and dragged out of the house...I think. I don't remember much, but I do remember I couldn't fall asleep that night, cause I was afraid aliens were going to come and take me hostage...:scared:

I used to love that show...the only episode I remember is the one where the girl becomes friends with this old lady, and then doesn't visit her on a certain day, and the lady gets all upset because it was the day she died. I saw that one a couple of times, that's the only reason I remember it.
I did have this wicked cool AYAotD book, though, about this house where every door or window you went out took you to a different era...like the dinosaur age, or in the middle of the Revolution...that was a very cool concept.

I loved that show, i use to watch it every Saturday on the Orenge couch.
There were so many that i liked, there was one about an Evil Clown. There were a few episode where this fountre teller guy would appear, it was Mr. Sardo. But its been far to long since i have seen the show for me to be able to tell exactly what the episod was about except for those small parts i remember. I kinda wish the show was still on they had some good stores.
Oh i remeber one i liked it was about a girl about 14 and her parent who went to stay at this inn, well her parents start to rapidly age.
The bike one was cool but errie too
as for as getting it on dvd, best proposel i think would be too go and vote for it at that Tv shows on dvd site
