Door Clue 1)To get passed the brick wall and find out the title of the 6th book:
------------------
-----1---00-------
-----2--00--------
---------00-3-----
---------000------
--------00000-----
----0000---4-0000
-00000--5------00
-------------------
The numbers are the bricks...
dashes are unimportant bricks...
0's are the white part...
then the code is 34251 and just click on the fan. As for the handle you should just click on it nothing special there. If you want a graphical representation of the bricks, try here (http://students.imsa.edu/%7Ejoehbkdx/brickorder.jpg). --------------------------
Door Clue 2) (latest)

HBP CHAPTER TITLES (**SPOILERS**)
1. Wait for Peeves to visit the Amazing Secret Door Area. The vase of daffodils will fall over and a flock of flying keys will start zipping around.
2. Click on a key and drag it to the lock on the door. You might have to do this a few times until you find the key that fits.
3. Take a moment to appreciate the beautiful bit of design that's gone into the appearance of Jo's desk (an expanded image of the website desktop) and then pull the desk drawer open by clicking and dragging it.
4. Click on the magnifying glass in the drawer and drag it over the obvious large piece of paper (taped to the front of a book) lying on the desk.
5. You'll get a riddle and you'll have to type in an answer. CLUE: it's a plural 7-letter word that has something to do with books. Not 'paragraphs' or 'sentences', but something bigger than either. :D
read spoiler for an answer:
"chapters" (without the quotes)
6. You can pull the loose pages of the book up above the cover, and reveal three different chapter titles.
7. That's it.

One by one we come to life
Then side by side we wait,
While our company swells in numbers,
(Some come early, some come late);
And some of us may bore you,
And some of us enthrall,
But you cannont choose between us
You must take us one and all.
We'll be bound together tightly
For we're not if we break free.
If you'd like some clues about us
Simply answer: WHO ARE WE?

You need to use spoiler tags. Just type [SPOILER*]bla, bla, bla[/SPOILER*]. But remember to remove the *'s.

You pick up a key and put it in the lock.. I've seen that people are having problems with this but the second key I tried worked for me
Then you click the handle on the drawer and pull it out
Pull out the magnifying class and hold it over the notebook
There's a riddle
The answer is chapters... just click the first blank, type it in and press enter...
Then there will be a folder appears saying harry potter and the half blood prince by jkr then four pieces of paper... if you lift them up you get a chapter number and a chapter title... just grab the paper by the top and pull it up... i couldnt lift the first sheet so im not sure if it comes up... but the ones you get are
Chapter Two Spinners End
Chapter Six Draco's Detour
Chapter Fourteen Felix Felicis - interesting title....

If someone can put together a simple tutorial for this so we can put it up on the first post, would be great. :)Here:
1. Wait for Peeves to arrive. This takes about 5 minutes.
2. When he knocks over the vase and keys fly out, try to grab a key. Then, drag the key to the keyhole.
3. Repeat the click-drag until a key turns in the lock.
4. Click the doorhandle. The door opens, revealing a view of JKR's desk.
5. Click the drawer handle on the desk. Drag the mouse down to the right to open the drawer.
6. Click the spyglass and drag it so it's right over the piece of paper on the folder on the left of the desk.
7. Some folders appear. Type "chapters" (without the quotes).
8. Click and drag upwards on each of the tabs in the file. Three of them have chapter names on.

Simple Tutorial:
Once Peeves has visited, a bunch of keys will float around the door.
Choose keys and drag them in front of the lock on the door until you find one that opens the lock.
Once the door is open you will see a desk with lots of paper.
In the bottom left corner there is a handle for the drawer. Click and drag to pull out the drawer.
Click on the magnifying glass and drag it over the notebook.
A riddle will appear:
One by one we come to life
Then side by side we wait,
While our company swells in numbers,
(Some come early, some come late);
And some of us may bore you,
And some of us enthrall,
But you cannont choose between us
You must take us one and all.
We'll be bound together tightly
For we're not if we break free.
If you'd like some clues about us
Simply answer: WHO ARE WE?
Click on the riddle, and type the answer: chapters
Once you have typed in the answer, the window will show a picture of a bound manuscript with the title "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" with pages available overtop.
If you click on the pages and drag them upward, you'll see your prize: chapter titles for HBP
Hope that helps everyone!

The "Do Not Disturb Sign" is up again. Will somebody who managed to wait Peeves out and see this bound manuscript pleas type the headings in Spoilertext or owl me the info? Thanks!
ETA: Never mind! Thanks Cherry Angel!
So are we thrilled or what?! Let the speculation begin.
I'll just start off with my own thoughts in Spoilertext
Two Spinners' End. There are a couple things this could be. First, it could be a safehouse that Harry uses after his stay with Vernon Petunia and the human bowling ball is cut short. In fact, as I'm typing this, I'm leaning toward that interpretation. The other thing it could be besides an address is an indication of two deaths (In Aragog's family possibly but I like my first thought a whole lot better). Draco's Detour--Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, YUCK!! Another whole chapter about that simpering slimy ferret. The only thngs that could make this worthwhile would be a front-row seat to another mass Azkaban breakout or alone time with Narcissa and Bella the deliciously evil Black sisters and their schemes. The last one looks like someone's name. Someone of good fortune. I don't think this is Lion-dude. It could be the new DADA prof (someone named after good fortune would seem to be a blessing in that post to break the "jinx" but he could be ironically named). The other person this could be is our knew MoM created out of whole cloth. None of these options seem very appealing but if this is a really long book Chapter 14 might be an EXCELLENT time to introduce us to the DADA instructor and would bode a good 30 or so chapters. I'll just hope for that I guess.. Please feel free to read the Spoilers and comment in kiknd. Thanks.

Chapter titles:
Chapter Two: Spinners End
Chapter Six: Draco's Detour
Chapter Fourteen: Felix Felicis - interesting title....
My take on what the titles mean:
Spinner's end... something to do with sneakoscopes?
Draco's Detour... intriguing, something will maybe happen to Draco to turn him towards the good side...?
Felix Felicis... obviously the name of a spell... and since somebody is described previously from the text as looking "lionlike" or something, perhaps this has something to do with that character...?

Our takes are similar but not quite identical.
Whoops "Spinners End" not "Two Spinners' End" My fault. It could be Sneakascopes--but I'm still looking for a street or a neighborhood for a safehouse. It could also be an attack on Aragog's family Thanks for the help. Kepp the ideas coming!

I think I'm missing something, why does "spinner's end" make you guys think of aragog?
As far as Draco's Detour, maybe this is where JKR will put in some of the things she wanted to about seeing Draco as an equal, like with Theodore Nott... you know... Draco's home life and things... or do you guys think she wouldn't do that because she already mentioned it on the site?
jordmundt6
October 31st, 2004, 6:37 pm
Cherry--What are spiders known for? Their ability to...?
I have now fixed my silly spoiler error. Sorry folks.
About Teddy and Draco's meeting. I think the one she discussed is permanently in the discard pile, but I wouldn't rule out the DEs closing ranks for a new strategy after the total debacle in the Department of Mysteries. And I have to admit, I'd love to see Draco outlcassed by someone he sees as an ally and an equal and we know from the site that Teddy is quicker on the uptake than Draco is.
[Spoiler]As for the idea of Reforming Draco--um, where would that influence come from? He's gotten consistently more comfortable as a junior DE and more virulent in his hatred of all things anti-DE as the series has progressed. Now that he's going to be alone with his mother and his psycho aunt you think he'll get jolted into pulling a Snape? I just don't see any evidence at ALL that he has it in him. A reformed Draco would be like a prophesying Hermione--in the deep-throated Sybill sense "Tonight, before midnight, the servant will set out to rejoin his master", alarming, jaw-dropping and discontinuous.

jordmundt6
October 31st, 2004, 6:47 pm
If you look at my original post you see that I almost immediately discarded that theory. It was just the first thing I thought of when I saw the first word of the chapter title. I started typing an alternative pertaining to more likely "early events" just for variety's sake and got convinced of it halfway through as I wrote in my post. For my thoughts on Draco's potential character development see post #34. Needless to say, I don't feel that the future looks bright.

Oh okay about Aragog. As for Draco, what does detour mean? A different route. A change of plans. I don't really think JKR is talking about a detour on a road map... Maybe something will happen to make it APPEAR as though Draco is changing tracts even if he actually isn't. He's going to take some kind of detour on the road to darkness... imo. It won't be permanent, maybe... just a quick change of plans before he gets back on track.
Back to spinner's end... I'm not sure what that could be about.. could it be the END of someone's life... but in chapter two? i'm leaning toward spinner's end being a location.
*edit* oh... didn't know that post was up. see you guys there!

I hate to admit it, but I looked at the spoilers, because I was dying of impatience, and for Chapter 14, Felix Felicis, I did a look up on it and it is a name (obviously) and both words mean "happy, lucky, fortunate" etc.

I am proud, I figured it out on my own. The Keys were the problem. There is one facing right while the others face left. I thought it would be that key...it wasn't. For the right key, it was trial and error. I don't know if there is a pattern to the correct key. I also had problems with Mozilla (which I usually don't.) I tried using Internet Explorer and it worked fine.
The Chapter titles are great. I am also leaning to Ch. 2 being a place. We are told that HP will not be with the Dursleys very long and Ch. 1 is more than enough time to be with them. I think the title refers to a safe-house of some sort. As for the Ch. on Draco, we always knew he would play a big role in the future books, the question will be on the side of good or evil.
As a school librarian, I talk about this series with my students all the time. I have told them, I personnally believe that the book will be a summer realease like OOTP was. At my school, we are all anxiously waiting for the release date. If it is a summer release, I won't be able to talk to them about it until the beginning of next school year. Bummer.
OFF TOPIC FOR ONE SENTENCE...for those living in the US, don't forget today is Day-Light Savings time. Switch your clocks.

October 31st, 2004, 9:05 pm
well, I did some Latin in school and my guess is:
that Felix Felicis concerns the Lion man after all. He's the cat (felix) of all cats (felicis), could of course also be someone extraordinary happy... I know latin for cat is felis, but JKR admitted she sort of transforms and construes her own Latin, if this is a proper name Felix makes much more sense than Felis, and the cat-like connection is there anyway (evidenced by this thread)
Spinners end... I don't know, a street name or other location sounds plausible... End could also mean goal, as in Means and Ends, and that could make Spinner a person...
And Draco's detour... now that's interesting... .
to clarify my point if I'm not mistaken Felicis can be the genitive of felix, meaning of cats... and what cat is the ultimate cat if not a lion? Plus, who says the lion man IS a lion? maybe he's crookshanks after all!.

I studied latin in school too but:
If, like you say, felix could mean cat because JKR has transformed the latin word even though it dosen't actually mean cat in latin, do you think we can still apply real latin declinations to "transformed" latin words?
And Crookshanks is already part kneezle, could he be an animagus as well... I don't think so, seems a little far-fetched.

To get past the "Do Not Disturb" sign, you have to wait for Peeves to show up, that is when you try to get the right key, that is what I did.
The 'numbers' for Peeves are the same as on a phone (733837)

Of course the titles aren't fake... JKR knows how many fans who live and breathe HP,and would be very upset if they were false... Just imagine peoples reactions when the 6th book is released, and chapter 2 is called "Pilar of Storge" (or how its written)

Well, if she does decide to put up other stuff she would probably wait until later on in the day in the UK. I doubt if she'd want to be sitting there at midnight typing all this stuff in =)
EDIT:
The fansite award might not necessarily change. It doesn't change on the first of each month, it's kind of random.
Well, there's a new Wizard of the Month now.

Efan1999 - check your cache. Also check to see if you have a popup blocker on. When Peeves comes through, the vase usually falls to the left. This time it falls to the right and dumps out a bunch of keys. I had problems with this too and just used Internet Explorer and not my normal Internet source of Mozilla. Good luck.

It took awhile, but I had it open on mozilla 6, firefox and IE. Once the first one worked, all three of them did. But it did stall for awhile. I guess it must be internet congestion, but now I wonder if it something to do with the webmasters working on the site.

I just noticed something on the page with her office door.
Usually when you go you see a bright sunny day or night. Today though when you go there are black clouds and it is overcast.
Hmmm makes you wonder if we are getting into the dark days. *shrug* (or the weather there is getting bad at this time of year)

When getting the keys just go to one spot and click till you get one. If that key doesn't work move to another spot and click till you get a key. Keep doing that until you get the right one. Thats the best way to do it.

Accually during the day it would show blue skies. There are no blue skies right now. It is mainly over cast and the cloud that goes by is black. Not a cute white cloud.

I started to watch that window more closely about two months ago when my sister asked me if the weather ever changed. It hasn't changed, not even a little for me. The same clouds and something that looks like smoke blowing past the window. Not a single ray sunshine. That's why I prefer that window at night with the moon and that UFO thingy (and by the way the moon doesn't seem to change either).

Has anyone else realized that if you go into the trophy room there is an empty box on the top shelf and that you can slide it left and right? I waited for Peeves to come, but didn't notice anything different after he left. Does this box have any significance?

That's the box that sits in front of one of the "ingredients" (the little blue oval things) you need to get an Easter egg. If you've already clicked on them, then there's nothing behind the box anymore, you can just slide it around.

Behind it used to be the rocks/bubbles that were necessary for completing the potion recipe we find in the Rubbish bin. If there isn't anything behind it than you probably already found them and don't remember. :)

Does this box have any significance? If there's nothing behind that empty box then you either have a glitch, or you already collected the item behind it. The box hid a group of blue blobby things (some say pebbles, some say bubbles, some say prophecy orbs... who knows) that are one of the three ingredients to a potion that was revealed in the Rubbish Bin section. The other two ingredients were some scratchy black mark things (Hair? pencil markings? Black grass? weird stuff...) on the extra stuff page and some egg shells on the rubbish bin page. If you click on the middle of the pen on the left of the rubbish bin page it will bread and show you the three ingredients... maybe you forgot doing this part?

I've always wondered why such a bad weather (wouldn't a rainbow be cuter? :) ) then it struck me that maybe it is a joke about the weather where she lives - it is always cloudy or rainy. I don't know if that's in fact true, but every time there's any reference to the weather in England or the surronding areas it is hardly sunny (I'm sure it can't ALWAYS be rainy, but it seems to be a common joke relating bad weather to the english weather).

I know im a little slow on the uptake here, but heres my thoughts on the Chapter Titles.
Spinner's End - My first impression is that this has something to do with Aragog, and some tragedy befalling him, as JK did say she was going to "kill" more characters, this is a logical theory. On the other side of it however, JK is way to clever to put something so obvious out in the air. But I havent yet been able to think of another explanation for it. so for now I must assume, that JK wants us to think this the question is why?...Maybe I read to much into stuff, and its really not that complicated. Who knows.
Draco's Detour - Im hoping something great and terrible happens to him, btu I know thats probably not true. But we can hope. I really dont have any great explanation for it other than it has to do with Draco, and perhaps some time he spends away from school...or since its so early in the book (Chapter 6) Something that he does in the summer. As Some one else said above, (or below however you display is) something to do with Azkaban etc.
Felix Felicis - Again with the First impression deal. My first impression was that this guy is the HBP. Kind of a catish name, and the HBP is suppsoed to have a lion-like nature. Also it is more then likely a character we havent met, and who is this guy? BUT again. I dont think JK would so bluntly put this out in the open. I think she wants us to think this is who he is. Other then that, I got nothing. Im hoping hes the HBP, but Im not fully counting on it. Again, maybe I read to much into things.

I don't think JK would tell us the HBP already (felix whats-his-face), i mean she doesn't want to ruin it for anyone right? In my opinion the chapter titles could man anything and everything, or nothing, but i'm leaning towards nothing. Why would she give us a really big chuck of plot and ruin the story? She pry just wants us to suffer until the book comes out lol and discuss these things to death.

Thats a good idea but you wouldn't think that that would be in the second chapter, more like the tenth or so. JKR did say that Harry will be spending a way shorter time at the Dursely's house. But now the question would be, why would he die or if he will die.

It's not Spinner's End. It's Spinners End. There is no apostrophe. So this is not about a person or monster. I think it is a place, a place that Harry will spend the summer. After all JKR has said that Harry's stay at Privet Dr. will be the shortest yet and he has to go somewhere.

I have to agree with you, there's no apostrophe so I'm pretty sure it's a place, more precisely a street name.

Which way does it face while flying, is it faster or slower that other keys, or is it's path in any way exclusive? I've researched the chapter "Felix Felicis" (fourteen) and both words mean good luck and happiness! But if this book is as big as the last one, then fourteen isnt even halfway through. Also, Draco's Detour (six).... What can this mean? The second chapter is Spinners End (see Knight Bus's posts) and I agree with him, its gotta be a place.

One of the gum wrappers on the first page takes you to the rubbish bin and then you click the left hand side pen in the middle, it cracks and reveals the recipe. :)

I tried checking for a pattern on the key that opens the door but it seems random to me. I believe I have gotten through that door about 10 times now and every time a different key opened the door. The keys do keep a constant flying path but since the key changes it is no use knowing it.
Someone even suggested that it could be bent or something (like the one in PS/SS) so I took a screenshot, but they were all identical. This time all we can do is hope we get the right key and don't have to try all day.

Ha, ha, ha! I was joking about blaming you, GS!
I will get more specific and predict Christmas Eve to Boxing Day (Dec. 24-26) for her announcement, with publishers right behind (by Jan. 3). lol
Hah! Not even winded here! :p

It took me 3 days to complete the task behind the door. Everytime I went back to the locked door I was able to go a little further. I was really getting depressed - so those of you out there who are still having problems, hang in there. :tu: There is hope! Now I have a request. I have lost my list of Wizards of the Month. Would someone please be willing to share their own? Would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance and good luck to each of you who is still trying to get behind the door.

Nope, the media takes a holiday then too! My chicken entrails say just prior to Christmas so that the hard to buy for fans can be gifted with a preorder! ( I HATE cleaning chicken! It almost makes me want to be a vegan!)

Show off. :p
Actually, I’d rather not have her reveal anything Christmas eve through Boxing Day…..too much going on already (at least in this household….and the other households we travel to.) With all the holiday excitement, and all the Christmas lard passing through my veins, my poor old heart may not be able to handle it all. Of course, this is assuming she makes the information hard to get to (oh, that door……)
I’d rather see something juicy announced between Boxing Day and New Years. I’d be very very surprised if we didn’t hear something at least by the end of January.
I was handling the waiting fairly well up until she released those chappie titles. Now I’m reeeeealy starting to get excited.

Spinners End could mean the end of Snape and his web of deceit that he is spinning between Voldemort and Dumbledore perhaps.
Is there anything else new on the site as I have not had a chance to see it yet?

Tane - There's an entire thread devoted to the meaning of the chapter titles in Divination studies.
As to your question, do you mean new to JKR's site, or this thread? And new since when?

If that's new to you then you have a lot of discovering to do! :p
Check out the previous version of this thread, or www.potterkeys.com
That second potion is quite old - a couple of months I think. There are certainly other things you've missed as well, so you've got some reading to do. :)

open the page you want to link. In the toolbar at the top of the page, highlight and copy the address that begins
http://www.cosforums........
then go to the reply where you want to put the post.
You can just paste it that way and it will work. Or you can make it neater by typing
[*url=paste http address here] descriptive word or two [*/url]
but eliminate the *s. I just put them in so the code would show up in the post.
Honestly, if I can do it ..... :D

There are pages sticking out of the top - click on each one and pull upwards. They'll slide up just a bit to reveal the three new pieces of information. At least I think you have to drag them up - can't remember now if you can just click on 'em. Anyway, those paper tops are the end of the puzzle for you.

Okay...
What about:
- Felix Leo = Lion (in Latin)
- Felix (=Felicis) = Happy/lucky (don't know if this is the right translation in english, but it's something like that)
The person described in the piece of paper that we got last time the door opened was described as a person who looked like a lion.
My first thought was that Felix Felicis (Lucky Lion?) is a person, and I believe he is the person that was described in the piece of paper.
I believe he has something to do with the half-blood prince, though I can't really think why. The lion is the King of the animals, and King/Prince have a connection. When he's half lion half human it would be a "half-blood" and he could be the heir of Gryffindor (Lion) etc...
Not that solid, but I think this could be true...

It's felis leo not felix leo. Felis refers to felines and felix, felicis is the nominative and genitive form of the same adjective which mean happy, lucky. So it cannot mean lucky lion.
The proper declination for the word felix, felicis has been posted in the HBP Chapter Titles - What could they tell us? (http://www.cosforums.com/showthread.php?t=37659&page=8&pp=30&highlight=chapter) thread but I think it could help if I post it here also:
In latin felix is an adjective of 3. declension and it goes like this:
in masculinum:
felix
felicis
felici
felicem
felici
in femmininum:
felix
felicis
felici
felicem
felici
felix
in neutrum:
felix
felicis
felici
felix
felici
felix
This will clarify things a bit, I hope.

I don't know if Felix would be both the half-blood prince and the heir of griffonder, but i guess it would make sense because Voldemort if a half-blood and he's the heir of Slytherin...but i think that if he's one i don't think that he'll be another...but i have a feeling that he may be the heir of griffonder and maybe the advisor for the half-blood prince...that's just a guess and not based on any logic....still it probably shouldn't be on this thread anyways...so i'll stop going on about my random theory.... ;) ...
anyways....what i did notice was that the keys didn't have wings on them like the ones in the books...I wonder why she did that?..could it be hinting that there are keys without wings yet to be encountered in the book...or just something that jk decided to leave out with no real ulterior motive...?? (btw i'm sorry if this has already been discussed but i've been gone for a while and reading through tons of pages of threads is very hard...+ i did a search but i didn't seen to find anything)

Please excuse me if this is off thread.......What is Boxing Day? I've read it in several posts in this thread and I have never heard of it before.
I don't know if it's the same in other countries but here in Canada, Boxing Day is, on December 26th, when people can return unwanted christmas gifts. The stores also have gigantic sales on this date. But it wasn't always like this, and changed a lot through time. I've found some information about the history of Boxing Day on this site:
What is Boxing Day? (http://www.factmonster.com/spot/boxingday1.html)
Here's an excerpt:
"Despite its name, Boxing Day, which is celebrated on December 26 in Great Britain, has nothing to do with pugilistic competition. Nor is it a day for people to return unwanted Christmas presents. While the exact origins of the holiday are obscure, it is likely that Boxing Day began in England during the Middle Ages.
Some historians say the holiday developed because servants were required to work on Christmas Day, but took the following day off. As servants prepared to leave to visit their families, their employers would present them with gift boxes."

You just have to wait for Peeves to come. Then, a bunch of keys will appear. You just have to use the right one, try them all and you'll eventually find which one unlocks the door.
haha
November 6th, 2004, 12:32 am
You wait for peeves to come and then a lot of flying keys appear, you select one which fit and then the door can open...andter that there is a desk and you pull on the handle on the desk (pulldown) and get the magnifying glass out of the desk..use it to magnify the top of the book which will have a riddle with the answer "Chapters" then you pull out the papers on the top to get the name of the three chapters.... good luck!!! :)

At first i thought it would be the fastest key..but it got hard trying to figure out exactly which one that was...so i used trial and error to...if you just keep track of which one you DID try..then its not too hard to do it this way as long as you're a little patient and have a clear idea of which ones you've already tried :)

I'm guessing that the door is going to close again today or tomorrow. Because it's going to be the 10th day after it opened, right? If you look at the past openings of the door, it stayed open for 10 days each time (August 16-26; June 28-July 7).

I just realized something, sorry if it's been posted before in this thread, didn't read it all.
It's Spinners End <<< Note: NO APOSTROPHE AFTER SPINNERS.
And in "Draco's Detour" There IS an apostrophe. That indicated that Spinners is probably NOT a name of a person/street. I'm sort of connecting it with the spinning top in the rubbish bin section of the official JKR website. I have yet to find a use for it. Please tell me if there is.

Well, that and it doesn't look at all like my personal vision of what a sneakoscope should be! I figure if you think it's related to Spinners End then take that theory and go with it.
