Has anybody out there visited the Taize monastery in France? What were some of your most memorable experiences or stories?

I went the week after Pentecost in 2001. I remember being blessed by Frere Roger, having no clue what to do, but it all worked out in the end. Most notably, a friend of mine bought a pad of dandelion stationery. Just a few weeks ago, I came across a note written on that stationery and had a revelation: Christians are like dandelions. We all came to Taize, then scattered our separate ways to do good in the world and plant new seeds of our own. It was so cool, realizing that three years later, the dandelions came back to me in a way totally unexpected, yet totally right.

I've never been to Taize but we used the music a lot at the church I belonged to in the 1990's. We used to have whole services with just Taize music and it was fantastic. You come to a sort of meditative state which you don't get (well I don't) in ordinary church services. The church I go to now is planning a Taize evening in the New Year so I hope it is as good as the ones I have been to before.

I haven't been to Taize but we used to run Taize services at my church a lot. It was a really good experience because it's more reflective then talking and you actually take in a lot more stuff then you normally do at a church service (well at least I do anyway).

A group at my school does Taize services monthly. I just went to one. I liked it; it made me feel reconnected again. It was wonderful.
