Sometimes, people come up with sermons that are short, sweet and deep, which help people come closer to diety or perfection.
Please post some of those "mantras" or short quotes, zingers, one-liners, refrains, or whatever they are.
Rules: The quote must be a single sentence or a conjunction of two similar ideas, no longer than two lines. It must be inspirational (helpful and applicable for living).
You may post as many as you like at once.
You may comment on quotes and ask questions, but please avoid debate (if you wish to argue formally or nonformally, choose another thread and link to it from here).
I'll start with a few I recall readily:
Don't ask what you can do -- just do what you can do. (LDS television ad)
God couldn't be everywhere, so he gave us mothers.
You are precious in the sight of God.
Those who give their lives to God will find he can make much more of them than we ever could.
"As we apply these [religious] doctrines in our lives, the roots of our religion become part of our own spiritual strength." (Russel M. Nelson)
"So if various trials are allotted to you, partake of life’s bitter cups, but without becoming bitter." (Neal A. Maxwell)
"By the way, do not expect the world’s solutions to the world’s problems to be very effective. Such solutions often resemble what C. S. Lewis wrote about those who go dashing back and forth with fire extinguishers in times of flood (see The Screwtape Letters [1959], 117–18)." (Maxwell)
"If the root of the evil be not eradicated, in vain we regulate the branches;" (John Taylor)
