A/N:
Ode. A long lyric poem serious in subject and treatment, written in an elevated style and, usually, in an elaborate stanza.
The following poem is not technically an Ode, it's probably best described as a mock-ode. Be thankful it isn't a mock-epic. Credit must be given to my muse and confidant, FoolOnTheHill.
This poem is not in any meter (I know, I am lazy), but it does rhyme.

Ode to a Flobberworm
Flobberworm, Oh Flobberworm,
how you flib and you flob,
moving about the ground,
with your great big gob.
Though you have no nashers,
just eat a leaf or two,
your mucus, I hear,
is very good in a stew.
It thickens and congeals,
the weakest of Potions,
though wherefore Wizards found this,
gives one all sorts of notions.
Just when did these Magicians,
formulate and devise,
to put you in their broth?
No doubt you wonder likewise.
Flobberworm, Oh Flobberworm,
how you flib and you flob,
your ten inches reaching,
as if this deed were your job.
For surely you do little more,
but eat all by your self,
better left in a dank corner,
than displayed on a shelf.
Lettuce and many things,
these are your choices.
They are all you would ask for,
if you only had voices.
Just when did those Students,
formulate and plan,
to continually pester you?
Prod, poke and scan.
Flobberworm, Oh Flobberworm,
how you flib and you flob.
Interesting life of a Flobberworm,
little more than a glob.
I wonder if things could be,
much simpler for some.
If we adopted your living,
well, we'd rarely be glum.
We'd flib and we'd flob,
and flob and flib more.
Not caring where we went,
what we did and what for.
Just when did you Flobberworms,
decide life was so easy,
that nothing need be done?
It just makes me feel queasy.
Flobberworm, Oh Flobberworm,
how you flib and you flob,
you're really quite useless.
Yes, you're just a big slob.
