Harry Potter Theme Park!

NO WAY!!!

How much fun would that be!!!

Re: Harry Potter Theme Park!

there was talk of a harry potter themed ride at an amusement park once before (correct me if i am wrong, anyone, but i believe it was either universal or disney). nothing even came out of it, so maybe this is going to be the same way.

it might be kind of cool, though. i just hope it wouldn't be too, you know, cheesy or something. i can't handle irritating, over-the-top hp stuff. i'm having a hard time explaining what i mean. hopefully someone gets it. :)

The Disney one was dismissed as untrue but today on Leaky's theres rumours of another one through Universal but they are treating it as a rumour too.

It would be great though especially if it had broomstick rides and the Gringotts cart rides or maybe ride a Hippogriff virtual ride hehe it would be so fun.

Movieworld in Australia had a special HP section back in 2002 and they had a replica Diagon Alley that looked just like in the movies and a Hagrids hat and you could travel by Floo Powder and the room spun around you. That was pretty cool.

I was just thinking the other day that a replica Diagon Alley with shops and all would be great fun! The Floo Powder bit sounds wild. Wonder how they did it?

Gringotts would make a great ride, but how about a ride based on SS as well? You roll through the room where Fluffy is standing guard (or sleeping- then he wakes up!, then plunge down through the trapdoor into the Devil's Snare, swoop around with all those winged keys chasing you, then move along the board in the chess game and finally end up fighting Quirell. There's so much there to work with.

An HP theme park would be soooo AWESOME!!! I would go there!! I would love for them to have Diagon Alley and Hogwarts, and you could go play Quidditch and see some real mail owls, and shop at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes...

I can't think of anything I would hate more. The idea of commercialising the harry potter story in this way is laughable. I am suprised that JK has given the go ahead on this idea as she doesn't generally like too much merchandising of her books.

She's probably not supported the idea and it likely won't go forward- these are rumors, after all. The horrors of commercialization aside, a tiny part of me finds the idea of being able to step into that world very enticing- even if it's only a facsimile.

I would love one but I too am slightly scared that it might be over commercialised, I'd still go though

It will be a bit hard to make probably...it'd be fun! I would like to see some of the rides they create,if made.

Fly on a broomstick! It would be like the rocketships they have at DisneyLand, where you control the rocket and go as high as you want...just don't fall. :D

That ROCKS!!! I'm believing this rumor because I want it to be true so much. Universal is only a matter of hours (3 to be exact) from where I live, and I go there for band trips every so often.

Ha!
I can't think of another book that has been more commercialised than HP!
I think a Harry Potter theme park would be amazing though! Can you imagine it? There could be separate areas for each book! And there are so many things they could make into rides!!

The Triwizard tournament and the graveyard scene would be intense...

you took the words right out of my mouth on this one.

truth is, i would love to say i would be horrified and i would hate it and i would instantly think it was ridiculous-refusing to touch it with a 10 foot pole. but, i can't. because if it was decently well done, i would probably love to go, because a part of me finds it extremly 'enticing', as well.

A HP themepark would be soooooooooo ace!! I'd most definitely go! I usually like cheesy things, so a HP themepark'd be just my thing!:p
I think a Gringotts ride would be so cool....and a Diagon Alley one....and a Triwizard Hungarian Horntail one would be too.

I thought they were keeping all the film sets and props, for that purpose. Just think, walking through the sets! What to say about all this.....WOW!

And they wouldn't have to do much to make it work, really.

Personally I'd be happy sitting in the Hogwarts Express eating pumpkin pasties. :D

I actually think it would be awesome! There is so much they could take from the books to make into rides, and even the shops could be Diagon Alley-ish. It would be really smart on their part, because it has the potential to be a huge money-maker. I would certainly go!!! Imagine a whole world of Harry Potter...

Agreed, although I've never had a pumpkin pastie!

Check this out. You can make them at home!

Diagon Alley would be easy to do and if the shops were any good I'd go. I've always liked the thought of going to Ollivander's or Madam Malkin's. And a walking tour of Hogsmeade that included the Shrieking Shack would be fun.

Rides are great, but if the planners do it right they wouldn't really be necessary. :D

If done properly, this could be amazing. The thing-for me anyways-is how realistic they can make it. If it's too cheesy, then it will be awful, but if you can pretend that everything is real for a few moments then they've done a good job with it.
