What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I just bought the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship conditioner and leave-in, and I love it  It smells sooo yummy, and it makes my hair so soft! What's your favorite, yummiest shampoo and/or conditioner?

Sile February 17th, 2008 9:13 pm

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

well the yummiest has to be Aussie Moisture Mate shampoo and conditioner it just smells lovely. The best has to be is Tresemme Moisture Rich I have very fine and dry hair. They both leave my hair lovely and soft

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

For me -- anything that's on sale . But on a more serious note, I like Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner and Sunsilk shampoo. They both tend to clean my hair well and make it smell nice and fresh :).

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I'm not picky about conditioner because my hair is naturally really soft, so I usually just buy Suave because its cheap. But with shampoo I prefer any of the Fructise or Aussie brands.

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

Eh... Matrix sleek makes my hair really pretty but I don't like the way it smells. I don't particularly like fake orange in the first place and it's not a good orange either. I've used all sorts, but I like the smell of Herbal Essences or Garnier best. They aren't quite as nice to my hair though.

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I like Aussie, Herbal Essences "Hello Hydration", and Garnier Fructis. Probably Aussie the best though. I want to try the "Long Term Relationship" kind as well though, my hair is really long...not down-to-your-knees hippie long, but almost waist length. I use 2-in-1 a lot as well, saves time when your hair is long and relatively thick.

Edit: Oooh, I forgot the kind from Bath and Body Works...a little expensive for a relatively small bottle, but I got some of it when they were having their big sale thing maybe a month and a half ago. The "Sweet Pea" kind smells very nice.

I am super picky about having matching shampoo and conditioner, it is a strayyynge quirk that I possess. I will ALWAYS buy in pairs, and tend to stick to the same one for vair long periods of time.

At the moment I'm loving Loreal Nutrigloss Light S&C. It's the pink one with green bits on the bottle :]

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I love Lush's Karma Komba shampoo bar and Veganease conditioner. My hair is really fussy, it's frizzy and kinda dry but gets greasy if I use anti-frizz or moisturising shampoo and conditioner. I used to use VO5 sliky smooth but my local boots never has it anymore and now I've tried the Lush stuff I prefer it anyway

I recently used the Aussie shampoo condition (2-in-1) and by far it's the best for my hair. Leaves my hair really soft and not frizzy. Smells wonderful too :)

 I am hooked on this stuff! It is thick enough to coat my hair really well, and awesome at moisturizing.

I am also of fan of Herbal Essences Drama Queen, and the original Herbal Essences before they changed the styles.

I also sometimes pair my Herbal Essences conditioner with my sons Apple Burst shampoo, it makes an intersting scent, but it smells amazing.

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I have tried to branch out with my shampoo/conditioner lately, so I tried Herbal Essence's Hello Hydration...my hair felt like straw afterwards. :upset:

I mainly use Dove's Extra Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. They smell amazing too, so it's great. I've also used Garnier and Aussi products before and I liked them. I really like Aussi's deep conditioner. My hair tends to dry out way fast, and that stuff makes it sooo soft!

Mostly though, I stick with Dove. It works really well for me. :D:love:

Fekkai Glossing shampoo and conditioner are fantastic. My mom likes to splurge on hair products so she buys them and I use them when I'm home.
Most of the time I use Herbal Essences. My favorite I think is called Hello Hydration (the blue one that smells like coconut.) Right now I have the one for long hair, which is also good.

I've never had much luck with Garnier, it always leaves my hair greasy and icky.

I personally love trying new shampoos all the times. Right now Im actually using Johnson's and Johnson's No More Tangles for curly hair. It was on sale and I like the smell :) For conditioner I have a cheap bottle of Suave in a peach scent.

I use Tresemme anti breakage. yrs ago i had blonde strips in my dark hair after the third time of dying it my hair turned to straw, tried everything it's the only thing now that works on my hair. other wise i can't brush my hair, and my hair is really long.

heres a ? for you guys anyone with long hair thought about cutting it short and giving it to Locks of Love? Im going to be doing that soon, anyone else willing?

^^I've never heard of it...can you tell us more?

I use tresemme, but I can't remember which one...I also like Alberto Balsam's Free Me Freesia and Anti Oxidant Pomegranate (but I can't find the latter one anywhere atm)

Locks of Love is an American charity that allows people with long hair (usually you have at least 12 inches or so) to donate for wigs for cancer patients. Your hair as to be completely unprocessed however. No dye jobs or treatments. It's a great charity :) I've always wanted to but I get so restless with really long hair I always end up cutting it before I get even o 8 inches.

witchgirl April 26th, 2009 11:40 pm

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

Well Vita you're a lil off  the shortest it can be is 10inches and it can be dye just you can't have used any bleaching or blonde hair dyes, has to be natural blonde. you're right with everything else, and it is a Great charity! I went to their website to make sure cause i dye my hair and i wanted to be sure before i cut all my hair off. My sister is coming from Colo. to NV in June and she's going to do it with me. I think shes going to have her daughter do it too.:tu:

oh yeah if you have really curly hair i believe they say to pull it straight to measure it. check out the web site if any one is more intrested.

At the moment I'm using Lush Ultimate Shine shampoo and Veganese Conditioner. I can't decide if I prefer the effect of this shampoo of Karma Komma, I prefer the smell of Karma though so I usually use that one, I'm just giving my hair a rest from it at the moment because it's starting to get immune. Either way they make my hair the best it's ever been, I tried some of Lush's other conditioners but while they made my hair amazing the day I used them I found they made my hair get greasy really quickly so it wasn't worth it

I used to love Herbal Essences, but since they've changed all the flavours I don't like them any more. They used to have one in an orange bottle that had mandarin in it, which was gorgeous, but it doesn't exist any more.

I use Herbal Essences. :-) I'm impartial to it, although their conditioner works really, really well.

My favorite would probably have to be Aveda though, because it has that nice organic feel to it.

I've used Mane & Tail once... it's a shampoo that's supposed to be for horses, furry pets, and people alike... and I've never understand why any person would want to use it. It smells awful (like really, REALLY bad), and it leaves your hair all tangly and matty and it's impossible to comb through after use, even with conditioner.

Im trying the Herbal Essences Tousle me Gently or Softly.. whatever the word is. Definitely made my hair... messier but still soft and kind of pretty. Divine smell! I use and love Herbal Essences Long-Term Relationship. It smells amazing and it really does help with the longer hair. I've been growing out my hair for the last couple of years, and ever since I started using it I swear my hair has grown just a bit faster and stayed stronger despite the normal problems long hair runs into, like getting brittle and full of split ends.

That's what my sister uses. I'm not one for toussled hair so I don't bother using it. I'll stick to my Pantene. But, my sister likes her hair with that curly messy look.

 My little sister used to use Mane & Tail, and her's didn't smell bad at all. It's really good for deep conditioning, and she straightens her hair so much that the ends got pretty fried. The conditioner had her hair looking really smooth and shiny after a couple weeks, and it was never tangly or matted after washing.

I pretty much just go with whatever happens to be in my house, to be honest. I started using Deva products, and they smell amazing, but they left my hair feeling gross so I stopped.

I like Garnier and Aussie products the most. They smell the best.

I use herbal shampoo for my hair, including Amla, Aretha, shikakai, etc , that is my favourite shampoo, herbal shampoo is highly effective and maintains shine of hair and controls itching, it protect hair right from the roots, and help in faster growing of hair.

Chi Infra Shampoo Moisture Therapy/Chi Infra Treatment Conditioner - I have Hermione texture (I'm NOT exaggerating) and it does wonders!

Their Silk Infusion product also works really well to make my hair shiny/soft.

Only downside is that each bottle is about $20 CAD

I thought that about Tresemme too. I'm using Rehab from Lush at the moment and an Umberto Garninni conditioner, the conditioner is a bit heavy for me though, I only washed my hair yesterday and the roots are already going greasy

At the moment, I'm using Biolage Cooling Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. I have thick hair, but the actual strands are baby-fine. Almost everything leaves a thick layer of build-up on my hair - so bad that I literally can't run my fingers through my hair while I'm washing it. Biolage (and Redken, for that matter) products leave my hair feeling oh-so-soft, and plus, they smell SOOOO good. :)

The same goes for me, Schlubalybub. :)
I never had any problems with my hair, it's pretty normal so I don't really go looking for one particular thing a shampoo can do (like hair-repair and things like that). At the moment I'm using Schwarzkopf Gliss Kur Liquid Silk Gloss, both shampoo and conditioner. I'm pretty satisfied with it. I recommended it to a friend with very dry and fragile hair and she was also very happy with the results, and I have to say that her hair looks much better now. So if there are people out there with the same problem (dry/fragile hair), I recommend Schwarzkopf Gliss Kur Liquid Silk Gloss!

My mum's hairdresser actually told her never to use Tresemme again, because of the amount of silicon it'd left in her hair. But I noticed it myself when I used it- it looked brilliant at first, but after a couple of months of using it, my hair looked really clogged up and greasy, even if I'd just washed it.

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I'm trying Garnier Fructis conditioner at the moment. So far, so good, but it always seems to work best when you just start using it, so we'll see in a few weeks. Just when I found one I liked - Bath & Body Works' brand - they discontinued it! Now they're selling this fancy, expensive stuff called Fekkai, and it looked promising because it was specifically for de-frizzing and detangling, which is exactly what I need, but god, it was awful! I think it would've been less tangled if I hadn't used any conditioner at all, and it looked like I stuck my finger in a socket the way it was frizzing out! I hope it works better for other people and it's just my weirdo hair that it doesn't like because jeez, what a waste of money.

Before all that, I was using one of Paul Mitchell's conditioners (can't remember which one), and it left my hair really soft and shiny, which was great, but it also gave me dandruff. I tried putting less on the roots and more on the roots, but got the same result. I thought maybe it was just the shampoo, except when I stopped using the conditioner, the dandruff stopped. Gave it one last try in between the B&BW and Fekkai just to make sure, same thing happened, so that's just a no-go. Anyway, it's looking much better now than it did with that Fekkai stuff, so that's a relief. I like the way Garnier smells, too.

Edit: Completely forgot about shampoo, what with my adventures in conditioner and all! I use Paul Mitchell's awapuhi shampoo. Good stuff. Clean, fresh, not greasy, not dry. It must strengthen your hair pretty well, too - I haven't had a haircut for a year and a half (horrible, I know, but it was really short and I've been growing it out), and I have very few split ends.

L'Occitane shampoo and ultra rich hair cream. So every once in a while I'll rub shea butter into my hair, leave it in for an entire night and rinse (read wash) it out the next day. I love this brand. It's great....

AccioFirebolt20 January 3rd, 2011 2:41 am

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

I used to use Garnier Fructis. But now I just use any one that's on special at the supermarket. I mean, I guess if you've done something to your hair, you might need a special shampoo/conditioner as well as mousse to keep it the way it was styled. But I have not dyed my hair - I don't really want to, because it's nice, short, brown and curly. I have straightened it a few times to see what it would look like, and it didn't look that great, although people say that I should try again. In conclusion, I don't mind what shampoo/conditioner I use, as long as it does what it's supposed to do, then I'm okay. (:

Re: What's your favorite Shampoo/Conditioner?

Currently I'm using Pantene Medium-Thick Shampoo and Pantene Classic Conditioner. I know I've heard that Pantene is not that great because it causes buildup or whatever, but actually it's one of the very few things that either doesn't make my hair feel dull or greasy. My sister has thick hair like me and she tried the medium-thick formula. She said it made her hair frizzier, but it's made my hair smoother. I really like the way it feels now.

I do the exact same thing. I always buy the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship set together, & HB's Drama Clean set together. Those are probably my two favorite scents/uses. Long Term Relationship smells amazing & always makes my hair all shiny, which is a huge plus. Drama Clean is amazing whenever I use product because it REALLY gets it out. Makes my scalp feel all tingly/super-clean.

I use Savon de Marseille for my hair. As for Conditioner... I haven't found a really good one yet. My skin is quite sensitive and starts itching when I use the wrong shampoo or conditioner.

I used to use Herbal Essences or Garnier Fructis, but they left my hair somewhat tangled and not smooth at all. What works best for me is Redken- my hair is silky, smooth, and shiny :)

I mainly use whatever is on offer in the shops, which most often tends to be Tresemme and I've always been happy with it :D I've used Pantene recently which I like, and Herbal Essences which seems to go further than Tresemme which is thicker, I have an awful lot of hair so end up needing an awful lot of shampoo  Herbal Essences conditioner probably gets the best results on my hair.

I discovered Burt's Bees shampoo a couple years ago, and I'll never go back. I use Super Shiny Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo -- I have oily hair, and this stuff is great. I can actually go for 2 or 3 days without washing it! It also doesn't seem to let that icky film build up on my hair as fast -- I don't have to use something different every 6 months like with other shampoos.

About 6 months ago I did have to quit using it for a couple weeks and use a clarifying shampoo to clean the film out; I used Neutrogena Clarifying shampoo for that. Then I went back to Burt's Bees and we've been happy campers. It's pricey, but you don't have to use quite as much for the same level of clean, and you don't have to lather/rinse/repeat.

If my hair is being really gross, I use Dawn dishwashing soap. I tend to have Snape hair, and sometimes I have to be stern with the grease.

I love the smell of Pantene. It's one of the best shampoo/conditioning systems I've tried, besides the fact that it dries my hair out like crazy. Recently, I've found a brand called Fekkai, which is pretty pricey, seeing as the bottles are quite small. But you can get away with using less shampoo and conditioner with this brand. I use the glossing system, and my hair looks gorgeous. It's incredibly smooth and I've noticed a lot less frizz. Sadly, my hair gets greasy after only a day, so I have to wash more often. :( It's worth a try if you've got the extra cash though.

It's a 10

There shampoo and conditioner are amazing.

There other products are good I am sure...I use there styling serum and just used their hair spray(which doesn't make your hair feel all weighed down).

The styling serum btw is actually works for frizzy hair:)

Edit:btw I was told if you use the more expensive stuff, a lady I know who is a hair stylist said that you should switch between shampoo/conditioner...so your hair doesn't become use to always having the good stuff...

My favourite is Aussie, it's pretty expensive here in Sweden though.

I use L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Glass Shampoo and Conditioner. It's ok, it's better than the L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect I used to use which didn't protect my colour at all and made my hair quite dry.

I've seen a lot of people say they use Herbal Essences. Are they good? I've heard they are quite harmful and strip your hair and dry it out.

I have tried Herbal Essences. I think it really matters what kind you are using.
I had a Herbal Essences shampoo that built up in my hair and made it too oily. I had another kind that was fine, that did not do that.

Garnier Fructis has a good shampoo, I do not remember what is was called, but it was apparently eco friendly stuff. Or it could be a different kind I am thinking of. If your hair is dyed they have a shampoo that works really good, well for me, I heard that it can turn some peoples hair orange lol. I dyed my hair red like 2 months ago and it worked fine for me. I did not even have the conditioner. My hair was pretty soft...

Also, what is everyone's "technique"? I used to lather the shampoo and leave it on for at least 5 minutes, then rinse, lather the conditioner and leave that on for almost 10 minutes. Someone told me that leaving the shampoo on for that long was probably drying it out as it's like soap, and that you're supposed to lather, rinse and repeat. So now I lather the shampoo, leave on about 1 minute, rinse and repeat. Then I leave the conditioner on for 10 minutes. Some people think that's too long but I find it doesn't even do anything if you leave it on about 5 minutes of less. Plus I once heard Tyra Banks say you're supposed to leave conditioner on for about 10-15 minutes and her hair is amazing!

I buy both the herbal essences volumizing, and also the one for color treated hair because I often dye my hair crazy colors. :)

I've been using a savon de Marseille soapbar as shampoo for about a year now and absolutely love it. I don't have to wash my hair nearly as much as before and my skin doesn't itch as much. All I have to do know is find the perfect conditioner...

I think that all you really did to do with shampoo is, lather and then rinse....as long as you scrub your head(scalp) good, it cleans it. I recently got my hair cut by a lady I know that is a hair stylist and she washed my hair before she cut it(which almost put me to sleep btw lol)..all she did was wash it(scrub it) then rinsed. It matters how good you scrub with shampoo, not how long it is in(I think).

I try leaving conditioner in my hair for a few minutes...sometimes I just do not really care.

I switch between Alberto Balsam coconut and lychee, and raspberry, and Aussie, depending on my money at the time. The raspberry one smells fantastic

Has anyone tried dry hair shampoo? I just read about it today, and it sounds like something I'd really benifit from, but I don't know if it's really as good as it sounds.

Her hair is also professionally styled and, more often then not, is a weave so it's not her own hair but someone else's.

I use a combination of stuff. Right now I have Head and Shoulders which I'm trying to just use up because it didn't do anything for my weird dandruff issue, Redken which I got from my hair stylist who recommended it for washing hair after I go swimming and a new brand I recently found called Jäson in their Tea Tree Oil formula which has done wonders for my patchy dandruff thing. They recommend leaving the shampoo on your scalp for five minutes in order to give the tea tree oil maximum effectiveness in normalizing the pH of your scalp.

I'm currently experimenting with conditioners, torn between sticking with a natural brand like Jäson which seems to dry my hair out or going back to my awesome Kirkland bulk conditioner which is paraben free and yadda yadda yadda... but you can get like 45 oz of it for $9 which ROCKS!!!

Basically I'm winding down from my experimentation phase and settling on the stuff I like.
