I'm hoping that, except for House and Wand and Username and Friend's List, it's all wiped, although I don't see that happening.

I just had a thought though, if everyone's personal points got wiped, I can't imagine those high scores with over 5,000 (heck, the Gryffindor guy's on 10,000 now) will be very pleased about that. I imagine there'd be an uproar. I don't think Pottermore would want to upset people like that after all the waiting etc.
Maybe it's my Slytherin side coming out in me, but I really hope my points don't get wiped as I will enjoy feeling superior to all the newbies in October (*cough* especially the popular people at my school who will no doubt join *cough*).

I am so glad that about an hour ago I found in my email my welcome email from pottermore. Hee Haa Jumpin up and down with Joy. What a great thing to happen to all of us waiting so long for this day. I for one would like to thank all here who are giving us a glance into this experience and good advice on what to expect in Pottermore from we who have been very patient and dreaming of the this day. We owe all of you alot. Thank you :huggles:

The same thing happens to me. When my screen is first loading, all of the objects available to collect appear for a couple of seconds, and then as soon as the page finishes loading, the items disappear. But this only happens when I've already collected those items. So I agree with Hes that it's likely that you've already collected that book. Have you checked your list of books to make sure?

When I checked yesterday, I had 671 points and was ranked in the top 300 of my house (and there were approx.125,000 members in that house). I'm thinking those with the mega huge scores (which I suspect are the top 100 to 150 per house) may be behind-the-scenes testers, or people who have really figured out how to cheat, or who got to duel quite a lot.

Once Beta is over, I think we should all start out on an equal footing. That's why I think we should get our galleons back and get to find everything again. Heck, I'd be happy just to get the galleons back.

Really enjoying the site right now! I'm in Ravenclaw and I have a Cypress wand, dragon heartstring, 13 and a quarter inches and it's very flexible! :-)

Hey, everyone. Do you know if they're restricting access to those who have had access fora while (ie, I've had access for 2 weeks, maybe they know my IP address). I haven't been able to get in, and I'm wondering if they're staggering access so beta testers who just got their emails can get in.

I doubt. because I just got my mail today, and I also often get a message: "Due to high levels of demand, we are currently restricting access to Pottermore. Please come back and try again later."
However, after trying some time, I usually manage to get in.

But, I hope you don't mind me saying, I think it would be fair of them to do that... Some people had access and chance to explore the site for a month and half already, and we who have just received our mail now, can't get in. So restricting access for a day/two only to those who recently got their email, would be a good idea. I thought of that myself too...

That's perfectly right in you saying so. I agree. I've had access for two weeks, but I do feel like those who just got their emails should somehow have priority. Problem is, they shouldn't have tried to get half a million people in during the last week. I wish they had staggered the access emails better by gradually increasing the size of the batches of the emails. That could have potentially avoided this problem. Now no one gets to enjoy Pottermore for the next couple days.

Not in my case. Got my email today, but I haven't been able to get in all night. (Managed half an hour this afternoon, but the 'restricting access' sign has been up for me for several hours now.)

I just got my email today, and the site says I can't sign in due to high demand. I've actually gotten a few different pages. One says they're restricing access. One says Pottermore is currently unavailable. And then there's one that says we'll try to get you in and keeps refreshing itself. In the past half hour or so, it's just been the Restricting Access page.

Did anyone else find it weird that in Chapter 3, moment 1, the Dursleys have a washing machine and a fireplace in their kitchen?

That's weird. Every time I have gone on today (just to see if I could actually do it), I get the "Due to over whelming demand...." message that automatically refreshes the page. I do agree with posts above. I have had access since the end of August (ironically I got my letter after I attended my first class at college) and I have decided that I am going to stay off to let other people have a chance to explore. I have been going to the site, but leaving if I get don't get on right away. The only reason I am heading there in the first place is that I am curious about the numbers in the Great Hall.

I refused to give up last night. It took me until midnight here in the U.S (about six hours of constant page refreshing), but my persistence paid off - and hey, my students papers all got graded - and I finally got on the site. I spent another hour reading along with the book and I enjoyed the site, but I constantly had to refresh it. Haven't had any luck today accessing the site.

It's a pretty typical place for washing machine's to be in the kitchen in the UK, I think it almost always is isn't it? It saves room for one thing, they are just kind of built in like a dishwasher.

I don't think the fireplace is very typical for a modern home though, not in the Kitchen.

Kitchen is the usual place for washing machines in England. I hadn't thought about the fireplace till you mentioned it. The wall the fireplace is on seems more like a family room wall than a kitchen wall. Maybe it is meant to be more like a great room merging into the kitchen. Interesting observation on your part.

Update:
510,411 in Great Hall now.

Thanks for understanding. :)
You're right. But they should have done that earlier.
I'm glad I got my mail today, not 2 weeks later - at least I managed to get my wand and be sorted, and those are the things I was the most excited for.

Yes, I get the same whole day long. I was able to log in a few times earlier today, but not at all in the last few hours.

Kitchen is the usual place? Interesting to know.
I found that unusual too. We have it in our bathrooms here. I was really surprised by seeing it in the kitchen.

About the fireplace: I remember from the books that they had some kind of firaplace in the house - not the real one - because Arthur Weasly tried to use it and include it in the floo network. Now that I think of it, it is unusual that it's in the kitchen, not in the living room - but as you said - Maybe it is meant to be a living room and kitchen together.

Where are you that the washing machine is usually in the bathroom? In US we usually have it in a laundry room, utility room, or garage.

They have been observing very closely all comments and helping us when we have problems, fix things on the run it is call. Very interesting! In the US (or at least in my house) we just have a laundry room for the washer and dryer.
