That was mentioned, but I don't think there was ever definite confirmation after testing. My experience has been that when my laptop goes to sleep, the time keeps running. I have not tested with shutting all the way down.

Thanks. It would be really nice if one could pause the potion!

Spoiler: show
Inside Harry's closet under the stairs (Chapter 2, Moment 1) there's a small chalk board toward the top that keeps rotating through numbers. Do they mean something? Anything we can do with them? 1531, 4157...

Spoiler: show
The number dial has been mentioned here, but no answer as to the significance. I seem to recall one number might be associated with computer programming.

Yes, indeed.

Definitely should be reported through the help section.

So, in my gateway, I have 10 hanging circles, and the one to the very left is 'locked.' Is that the same for everyone, and do we know what it's for?

It is locked for everyone. No one knows what it is for but there has been some speculation(guessing) that it will be Hogsmeade in the future.

It's for the not-yet-open online shop where you buy ebooks, actually.

I now am really careful to raise the lavender well above the cauldron as I drag it to the mortar so that there are no bumps or flecks falling off where they don't belong. I think that helps.

But I have never had a problem with Wolfsbane. I'm glad your next potion worked, though.

Thank you for your advice, I'll try to be extremly careful next time. :)

CM

I strongly advise to do that.
The first time I brew a potion for points, I didn't click on "brew another potion", but just clicked on another part of pottermore, and I haven't received any points and my potions wasn't in the "brewed potions" part. So I checked what is happening with my potion, and it said it's "brewing". But when I went on that page where you are brewing it, I had to start from the begginning, from the first steps.
So after that, I click on "brew another potion" every time I finish a potions. And I've never had the same problem since I've been doing that.

Can't more than one potion be brewed at the same time? In different cauldrons, of course.

Apparently, Pottermore intends that you should not be able to--which naturally leads to the question of why one should bother having more than one cauldron in the first place. And it's a good question; I don't think anybody really has a firm answer to that, other than they're nice to collect (or at least some people think so).

It's true that some people in a potions loop may find that they brew potions semi-successfully while their looping potion is occupying another cauldron--but then they don't necessarily earn points for their new potion, but for their looping potion.

In regards to that, you may have noticed that when you resume a potion, the URL for your potion has a number at the end, which I believe is currently in the neighborhood of 5,000,000 (without the commas, of course). I'm pretty sure that is a number that is supposed to be unique for each potions attempt, assigned in increasing order, so that each time you start a new potion, you're supposed to get a new number. What I've observed in at least two cases of potions-loop-itis is that the looped user, when starting a new potion, does not get assigned a new number, but continually gets the same old number. In fact, one looped user is still sitting there with a potions number around 220,000--looping since very early in Pottermore.

It's not a lot of information, but it provides some possible insight into what's going on there.

Unfortunately, no. I'd have my own Potions factory by now, otherwise.

Pottermore counters are notorious for glitching, but

Spoiler: show
you can try taking a break between adding different ingredients to ensure all of your input is registered - they're more likely to glitch if you add the ingredients immediately one after another. Antidote is an absolute nightmare that way. :argh:

Re: Pottermore v.10

And once again, poof, no points for brewing succesfully the sleeping draught! :( It does congratulate me. I wait for each step to be registered before I continue. I double check if the potion book strikethrough each step before waving the wand. And still I end up with no points although I receive the congratulate message. It doesn't matter if I click on "brew another potion" or if I click on the owl/common room or whatsoever. :sigh:

Or maybe it has to do with using the pewter cauldron instead of the brass one I've got? I use pewter instead because it heats less fast paced up than other ones. I guess this is the newest potion loop. Succesfully brew any potion and don't get any point awarded eventhough Pottermore tells you otherwise.

That was me... if I leave my potion open in a tab and hibernate my computer overnight, it pauses and remembers where I was at in the morning. Occasionally it doesn't work, if I refresh or leave my potion page it will say I left it too long.

It seems like it's just me who can do this though =/ Probably a glitch, nevertheless a useful one :D

Just in Pottermore for a few seconds to check the House cup stats.
Slytherin is closing fast on Ravenclaw. It's getting intense.:eyebrows:

Then maybe I should stop melting my cauldrons right now?

I was just brewing a potion and when it was done, instead of taking me to the page where it says x% done, it took me to the cauldrons page where none of my cauldrons were being used,.

I'm curious, what does it take to melt cauldrons?
I've only melted mine once, on purpose, when I wanted to see what happens if I overheat my cauldron, in the practice potion.

So, it melts when you overheat it? Are there other curcumstances? I've heard that cauldrons can explode...?

I'm asking this, because I liked how those brass and copper cauldrons look, so I've bought them too - I know that they are not necessary, but I had to have them! So I want to know what should I be careful of, since I don't want to lose my new expensive cauldrons. :D

It takes house points,.

I don't know exactly what melts the cauldrons. I overheated it, but I also didn't crush the ingredients to the right level; something went wrong with the mortar. I'm inclined to think it's the overheating though, as I've put wrong ingredients before and the cauldrons didn't melt - the potion just went all green.

The title is Beta and Beyond! Interesting!

Wow, they were completely unprepared, and now they're trying to play it cool. I love how they are keeping dueling off because they want to make sure it works right. But they apparently aren't concerned about the rest of the site, cause nothing works right! lol. I'm staying away from Pottermore for a while, that's for sure. I've read all the new info (Which was great) but find potions so glitchy that I have no desire to ever brew again. So that leaves me with... uh nothing, really.

We expect to open registration to everyone from the end of October. Registering means that you'll be able to create a Pottermore account and select a username. You won’t have immediate access to the site as we’ll be enabling people in phases.

Once you’ve registered, we’ll send you a Welcome email to let you know when your Pottermore account has been activated. This may arrive quickly but please note it could also take a number of weeks or months, depending on demand.
Phew! I am so glad I'm a beta tester! Imagine having to wait months to get on...:eeep:
