I have seen my own activity listed when I logged in in German, but never in English.

How do you see the picture of the common room without all those boxes in the way?

Spoiler: show

Right click on the background (you may have to try a few times, as there are multiple backgrounds), and you'll see an option like "View background image." This may vary slightly, depending on your exact browser. Select that, and you should be able to see your common room unobstructed by text.

What's more, if you look at the URL, you'll see that it contains the name of your house, in lower case. Replace that with the name of any other house, and you should be able to see what the other houses' common rooms look like.

Hmm, that doesn't appear in my options. There's no View Background option, just save background and set as background.

What browser are you using? Firefox allows you to 'view background image'. IE doesn't. You'll probably need to view source for that.

Thankyou for this info!

It is very interesting seeing what the other common rooms are like.

Thanks everyone ... the backgrounds to see common rooms are wonderfu to see! I couldn't get them to work in Chrome ... but Firefox was great!

Am I the only one that gets the message in the gateway that I will be able to follow the progress of my friends once I have them? This suddenly appeared yesterday, while I have friends and always received updates before.

In chrome, if you download an extension, you can get the 'view background' option.
The extension I have is simply called 'View Background Image'.

I got that message once. It cleared up about 2 hours later, thank goodness.

I have gotten that message before at times. It even lasted a few days once. I don't have it now.

Thank you for that info. I added the extension and have now been able to view all the common room backgrounds. It is very interesting.

Hey, guys! How are you? I was wondering if anyone has received the beta survey. I know the Insider said they would be sending it out but I haven't received it yet. Maybe they will send it out at the end of the beta period? Although, that really wouldn't give them the opportunity to absorb the feedback.

This message always shows up, when none of my Pottermore friends had any activity posted in the last 24 hours.

Thanks for the info, it's really interesting to see the Slytherin common room, and all the other common rooms!

I think Slytherin's looks really gloomy compared to the others, though. I like Gryffindor's and Ravenclaw's most. Why does Slytherin's have to be so dark and gloomy, with those creepy skulls? :(

I think Slytherin is located under the lake, while Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are located inside towers. I wouldn't like the skulls, either, but the mascot is a snake.....

Yes, that's right...I just don't think it's cosy enough. Even the chairs and couches look uncomfortable, and yes, the skulls on the mantelpiece don't exactly help.

By the way, experienced Pottermore potioneers: for the Potions, how would you rank them in terms of how "worthwhile making" they are (points, cost of ingredients, probability of failure/success)? Thanks :)

I love my Hufflepuff common room! I feel a bit like I'm a Hobbit hole...

Forgive me if this has been discussed already, but does anyone think the House Cup results are oddly accurate and in keeping with the House profiles? Hufflepuffs are described as not being as competitive as the other houses and there are no Hufflepuffs with 10,000+ points. Ravenclaw and Slytherin being caught in quite a duel for the lead. I don't know, I just think it actually matches up really well with the characteristics of the houses.

I can see where you're coming from, although Gryffindor doesn't have that many points, which doesn't really fit to their profile that much...Although they might find brewing potions too boring..Maybe they will gain more points when Wizard Duel is back? Hopefully! I wish there were a closer competition between all the houses though, not just Ravenclaw and Slytherin. It would be so much more fun if Hufflepuff and Gryffindor had more points (and I'm a Pottermore Slytherin saying this).

1. I'd have to put Wideeye potion at the top-it gets less points then Sleeping Draught, but once you've bought the ingredients, they last for ages, while with Sleeping Draught, you can only make 4 potions before you're out of Flobberworm Mucus
2. I would, however, put Sleeping Draught second, just for the amount of points you receive. And even though you do have to get more Flobberworm Mucus often, it's cheaper then a lot of potion ingredients (1g a bottle).
3. Forgetfulness potion. You only get 7 points, but you also only have to buy 2 ingredients, since you can
Spoiler: show
go back to the Christmas feast scene and re-collect mistletoe berries whenever you need them.

4. Herbicide. I'd put it about even with Forgetfulness if not for the mistletoe berries in Forgetfulness.
5. Cure for Boils- Yes, you only get 3 points, but the ingredients are much less expensive and last much longer then the ingredients for the last potion (Antidote to Common Poisons). Plus, you can practice this, which gives you a higher chance of success.
6. Antidote to Common Poisons. Though you can collect mistletoe berries for this, same as for forgetfulness, the other ingredients are expensive. Unicorn horn cost 21g (though it does last a while). Bezoar cost 10g, and, like Flobberworm Mucus, you can make very few potions before having to buy more.
