Re: Pottermore v.10

Hey I have a question about a scene from Pottermore...

Spoiler: show
In Book 1, Chapter 10, Moment 1 - "Harry's Special Delivery"... If I move my mouse over each of the drawers in Harry's bedroom, a galleon falls out of the bottom drawer. There's no way I can catch it. Is there a trick to it? Something I'm missing?

Thanks all!

You can't collect it after it falls out? I recall being able to collect it after it fell. I didn't catch it. I just let it fall and then collected it.

That generally means that you've already collected it. Once you have collected it, it won't let you get it again. If you haven't already collected it, it's a glitch.

There is an article linked on Mugglenet's main page (sorry I can't link it from this iPad) but this article says mais registration for Pottermore was pushed back till 2012. Was this on The Insider?

Hes October 11th, 2011 8:33 am

Re: Pottermore v.10

I just read it. Insider doesn't mention this.

Leaky Cauldron also mentions the same article but doesn't mention the delay themselves. Since they work closely with the project you would think they know.

So let's take this with a huge grain of salt.

All Pottermore has directly told us is that the e-books would be delayed until 2012. Either Mugglenet knows something everyone else doesn't, or they need to once again get their facts straight.

It's Bookseller that's the culprit here, Mugglenet and Leaky just took the news from them. I hope Insider will say something today...anyhoo will see.

I agree. I just checked the Bookseller site and their article now says registration opens at the end of October. They also admit to changing it in the comments. Mugglenet must just have just copied it without thinking.

Oh great. I presume Pottermore has told them off.

LOL So at last we now know that registration is not pushed back, though welcome mails may take that long. ;)

I'm thinking that many of the early registering people will get in fairly quickly, because Pottermore hasn't seem much downtime in over a week.

Just want to share something...

At school today, I managed to get on Pottermore during one of my lessons in the computer room. This itself was a major achievement, because my school blocks literally everything. This forum was blocked. :grumble: But Pottermore wasn't :p

Anywhoo, so I got on Pottermore and I just want to say what an improvement a better computer makes. My computer here is really slow and lagging and has a square screen. Well, the computer at school was lightening fast and has a long rectangular screen. Wow. I discovered that the Slytherin common room has green windows at the edges  And then I tried potions. WELL! It was just perfect, the ingredients flew across the screen like *that*, and when I clicked the wand the lightening was literally moving so fast I just stared and gawped.

And now I am back to my lovely, lagging computer.:grumble: *sigh*

I think I killed the thread. :relax:

Twice in a row I tried to brew a potion, got the 'this will take 80 minutes, why don't you go and do something else' (paraphrasing here) screen and when I clicked the button I got taken back to the screen where you can pick your cauldron, and I could still use mine. The potion wasn't brewing at all!

Has this happened to anyone else?

That glitch happen s a fair amount. the trick is to stay on that page and open another tab and check your other sites while you're waiting.

Thanks! I'll try that. :)

*Edit: So I tried it, and it seemed to work. I got the screen that said house points had been awarded, etc., but then they weren't and I got an owl that said the potion had failed to brew. :grumble:

After the screen said that house points had been awarded, did you click on "brew another potion"? Someone suggested this, so I always do it. But there was one time when I was told that I was awarded points, and didn't receive them.

Yes, I did. And then I noticed the potion didn't show up in my brewed potions, and that I didn't actually receive any house points. So I checked my owls and found the owl that said the potion failed.
It's very strange. (And slightly frustrating...)

I had never had that happen to me before (although have experienced other glitches), but just had it happen this morning. I am on my third attempt at brewing a potion and I think I am just going to leave it on the screen and not click "come back later". Hopefully it works and isn't a waste of 95 minutes.

Here's what i would do.

Leave the tab open. If that doesn't work, go back to the potion and fail it - simply waive the wand. Then try the potion again.

If it still isn't working, report it:

Help -> Other -> What's next? -> Need more help?

Re: Pottermore v.10

Sorry if somebody has already said this somewhere - but it seems to me that the house point scoring system is really skewed in favour of Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The system rewards cleverness and determination - but it doesn't in any way reward bravery or loyalty. That puts Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs at a huge disadvantage - the current house scores bear this out.
