Thank you very much! Hopefully I hear back from them, I highly doubt they can really do anything for me though.

@ Hufflepuffchill : That is extremely weird....I don't even know what to say. x_x I didn't even know that could happen to someone.

Also, anyone else notice that the overall house points haven't changed for a while now? Like at least a day? I feel like they must be frozen somehow.

I mean you can still earn individual house points but the overall house scores seem to be frozen.

The house points are still the same it has been at least three days since they changed that's a pretty big glitch!, unless the points aren't done automatically, and they are all on holiday so they aren't updating them which I think very unlikely although I have no idea how it works lol. I also wonder if they took away our rankings so it would be hard for us to notice how fast they update the points (except for now when they aren't changing at all) before we could judge how fast new points were added as we would see our ranking go up when new points were added. Some other changes like shorter potions times are great but I liked it more when we could see our rankings, I think it served as good motivation for some to use the site more often to climb the rankings.

That's so strange, I only recently had the same thing happen to me.... completely screwed up my potion as well.

Well it's always kept updating on weekends and such in the past right?

You wouldn't think that they'd have to physically add anything....you'd think it would be automatic based on the points that members of each house are earning.

I feel like it's just glitched up. x_x

Also I liked it better when we could all see our individual rankings too. No idea why they took that feature away. I already wrote a complaint about that and wonder if anyone else has also complained. I want them to add more features not take away the few we actually have.

Yeah it is all very odd. I got an email back saying they passed it on to the development team but I'm sure I won't here anything back though. I still have 300 galleons so if I really wanted to I could just buy another cauldron but what if it just happens again? I don't know if it is really worth it.

It is a real shame all these glitches are happening because for a week or two the site was running brilliantly and I was really enjoying myself.

This has happened to several friends of mine. The only solution we've found is to not keep the potion tab open while it's brewing. I know I always click come back later now, and I have not lost a cauldron. One friend actually did receive a response from Pottermore about the glitch. They were basically told "sorry for the glitches, but we are not replacing galleons or cauldrons." :( Hope you have better luck.

Apparently the cauldron issue has been happening to a lot of people, and what you're saying has been posted several times in the Ravenclaw Common Room - don't keep the potion tab open. Maybe this is the trick?

The comments are working again, BTW. And so are the house points in the Common Room.

It's hard for me to take the House Cup seriously. I've been dueling quite a lot, and I know of at least one person who always scores 145 on Body Bind. The person I keep coming up against has got to be running a script (and they're in neither Slytherin nor Ravenclaw, although I'm certain each house has their own cheats as well). It's kind of sad, when you think about it.

That is very disappointing to here that it is a pretty common problem, I was hoping it was just a very rare incident instead of a whole new problem. I am not too fussed about replacing galleons or cauldrons but it is still a bad incident. I am disappointed because Pottermore was running brilliantly for a whole two weeks or so.

Did you double click and go to the white building at the very end of the alley, and pick up your shopping list (on the ground between the two witches)?

So when I brew a potion I should leave the potion page and come back later?

I like to leave it open. x_x

If you leave the page briefly and then open it right back up, does that prevent the problem?

I haven't come across this person who consistently scores 145. Of course I only generally duel against the houses that can give me points for beating them(Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin). Is this person in Hufflepuff? Because if so I have probably never faced against this person due to that being my own house.

Does doing practices against your own house take away from the amount of duels you can do? Because if it doesn't maybe I will do more practice duels with other Hufflepuffs.

Anyway if that person who is probably running some script is from my house it still bothers me because for one it's not fair(in which case, why did that person even get sorted into Hufflepuff? Huffles are suppose to be about playing fair more so than any other house) and also....it is still annoying because even if this person is earning points for my house, aside from the cheating factor, it also takes away from others of us in Hufflepuff who might want to make it into the top 20 scorers and are doing so fairly. I certainly don't win all my duels. I'd say I lose about half of them or so.

I have only once gotten 145 potency on the Full Body-Bind spell. Is that the max you can get on it? More often than not I get a strength of 138-143 on it.

I really wish they would list everyone's rank again....I have 4,374 points right now in Hufflepuff and I'm guessing that I'm probably in the top 100? I really have no actual idea though if I am, it's only an estimate. And although I'm dedicated to earning points for the house, I'll probably never be in the top 20 because although I'm dedicated, I do have other things to do in my life and can't sit here at the computer for ages just doing duels. So it would be nice if I could find out my rank without having to be in the top 20.

If that person is in Gryffindor it's possible I've never actually dueled that person....I mostly duel with Slytherins and Ravenclaws because being in Hufflepuff, Gryffindor is the house that we are the closest to potentially beating....Ravenclaw and Slytherin will be harder for us to catch up to anyway so I just battle them more. I do duel Gryffindors, just not as often.

From what I gather, leaving the page should prevent it. All the people I know who have lost their cauldrons are ones who had the tab open. Before the last shut down, I would always leave my potion open in a separate tab because it would reset if I clicked come back later. However, it seems they have fixed that glitch now. Since the last shut down, I have not had a single potion reset, nor have I lost a cauldron.

Hope that helps. :)

You're very welcome. Lots of people seem to get hung up there, and that's why i guessed that was the problem. You're definitely not alone.

It seems to, yes.

The account that is driving me crackers is a Gryffindor, but I suspect each house has some who are cheating and i think that's one reason some people have really high scores. So far, I've really only noticed one particular account which really stood out to me, but I haven't dueled my own house for points, and the only time I duel Slytherin is when someone from that house asks me to duel.

I've run into the very top-ranked Gryffindors, but I've never dueled a Gryffindor who was scoring 145 points. I have run into a 145-point Hufflepuff... and I scored 145 once myself. :D

You don't get points when you duel your own House, btw. You just get practice. If I'm down around 140-141, I sometimes go practice against some Slytherins for one or two rounds until I go back into battle. Most of the Slytherins practicing are either new to dueling or are just testing out some of the not-so-great-for-dueling spells.

I understand the Ravenclaw-Slytherin avoidance thingie... because it's practiced widely in Slytherin too. But I hold a different philosophy of the competition.

Alright thanks....although it's unfortunate that them fixing one glitch seems to have caused another glitch. x_x

Yeah I'm sure that if there is someone cheating in one house there is probably someone cheating in all of the others.

The people who have a ton of points though....I wouldn't suspect that they're all cheating. I think some people are perhaps just staying on the site for really long periods of time. I don't play many online games but my b/f says there are always people on each of those kind of things who play constantly...like on WoW and such. So they might just be consistently on it.

Anyway, I actually duel Slytherin a ton....partially because it's my fav house so if I lose and don't get the points, at least Slytherin is getting them....and the only person I know in real life so far that has a Pottermore account is in Slytherin. So at least it's her house getting the points if it isn't mine.

I do duel Ravenclaws almost just as much though.....just not Gryffindor since they're my least fav house and also the house Hufflepuff has the most chance of catching up to.

You're in Ravenclaw though aren't you? It would make sense for you not to duel Slytherins often due to being so close to each other in house points....since at least if you duel Gryffindor and Hufflepuff and lose, the points won't be going to the house you're in close competition with.

Anyway that sucks if dueling your own house takes away from the amount of duels you can do....I don't want to take away from the amount of duels I can do to actually earn points. x_x I can't earn them against other Hufflepuffs. I mean I have done some practice duels against Hufflepuffs....but it's not something I do that often.

Thank you for your support. :D

I don't duel Hufflepuff much, but that's only because it's so hard to find Hufflepuffs who are willing to duel Slytherins - with the exception of Hufflepuffs who actually know me from CoS.

If I send out a duel to Hufflepuff House, it usually takes hours for it to be answered, so I don't usually bother. I usually duel Gryffindor. But sometimes I go on a Ravenclaw run. It's no problem finding Ravenclaws.

ETA:

Okay, I can confirm that the #2 Gryffindor on the Leader Boards is not running a script. StormChestnut scored 141 points in a duel with me an hour ago, and lost. This is an individual with nearly 46,000 House points.
