I'm happy that most of Kloves's quirky additions like that were removed. The editors (and the directors too - they'd have to agree with most of the cuts) often get grilled for removing important exposition, but they did do a good job of removing comments like these.
The unfortunate problem is that a lot of exposition scenes were written clunkily so the flow of the scene works better without them - the DH1 script is full of scenes like these.
