Great Editorial. I think that it is very likely for Neville to become a Hogwarts Professor. It makes perfect sense.

This was a great editorial. I had never thought much about what Neville would do after Hogwarts and that interview with JKR is an awesome hint. There are some really good points presented in this editorial. Herbology would of course be the obvious choice for Neville to teach but I would love for him to end up teaching DADA (assuming, of course that the curse was gone). It would be the perfect ironic twist.

I really liked this editorial. Do you think his grandmother would be proud?

I enjoyed the editorial. I also agree that Neville Longbottom is going to be the professor of Hogwarts from Harry's year. Great findings.

Aw, that's nice. I wish Neville all the luck in the world. Such a great guy . . . he would be a great professor.

Neville has always been my favorite character too, I think he's going to have a big role in Book 7. I have always hoped that after so many years of being looked at as a klutz, that he would get to be a crucial hero in the final scenes.
Thanks for the editorial on Neville, I'm always excited to see discussion on him! |

Great editorial! I love reading Neville theories, especially ones that actually make sense, hehehe.
For more than a year, I've actually had a bet on with a friend about who will be the kid from Harry's year that stays on as a professor, based on the text of that very interview. I said it would be Neville at Herbology; she said Draco for Potions. I had a sneaking suspicion when we made the bet that she would be right in the end, but I'm not sure what to think after HBP. Slughorn will undoubtedly want to go back into retirement at some point, leaving the Potions Master position open once again. Dumbledore, in his infinite mercy, would have given Draco the job, as he once gave it to Snape -- but would McGonagall? Probably not, since the Snape thing seems to have backfired so spectacularly. *sigh* But McGonagall has utter faith in Neville's abilities, and should Sprout follow Cedric Diggory into Hufflepuffian martyrdom or simply choose to retire after long service to the school, Neville would indeed be a strong candidate to replace her. ![]() |

Nice observations. It's definitely a possibility. You know, actually, while reading in HBP about Neville working and having a head start of the trio, even though he was working alone, I was strongly reminded of snape for some reason. I think its because I picture snape working alone even when he was younger. I'm not saying Neville will turn out to be like snivellus, but I think its an interesting parallel.

Great Editorial! Makes perfect sense. Go Neville!! I think then, perhaps his grandmother would finally be proud of the grandson she has! Even though she should have been proud to begin with!!

Very good editorial! Best of luck to Neville, cause he rocks! I'm glad that this editorial actually makes sense to me
. Neville would most likely be a Hogwarts professor, but at first I thought that he would be an Auror; both ideas make sense though.I do hope that Neville's grandmother would learn to be proud of her grandson.

I think it's a fine article! One thing should be noted in the way of irony: if Neville became Charms professor, it would show up his grandmother for looking down upon him all these years, as she FAILED herCharms O.W.L. (McGonagall shared that juicy tidbit). That would definitely be Neville thumbing his nose at how she treated him throughout his childhood!

I enjoyed this article. I too have had a soft spot for Neville. It is remarkable how much Harry has grown and changed socially. I had noticed it, but I hadn't seen it as Harry becoming like Dumbledore. I can see that now. He really kind of has to replace Dumbledore now, so his growth has been timely. I agree that it is likely that Neville will be a teacher at Hogwarts. It would be a good fate for him I think.

Good points. I think he would be the most likely. I also think that Neville will get revenge for his parents in book 7. I think he is a pretty important character.

Bravo! Excellent prediction, Tom, and well-argued. I wonder who will become Hufflepuff head-of-house if Neville replaces Sprout.

I have recently reread some of JK's old interviews, and Neville came to mind when I read them. Good job on the editorial.
