Bravissimo! I'm sure that made your visit to Italy so much richer. Hope you can spend more time in Italy or maybe around an exchange student to perfect your usage and accent.

It's wonderful to be able to speak other languages. I kick myself for not putting the time and effort into Spanish when I was younger. In fact, it's been a dream of mine to learn ASL, American Sign Language, to communicate with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. Maybe I could talk to Harry Potter fans there too!

buona lettura!

Buono ( and I mean that's excellent). What a neat collection to have. And how nice to get Italian responses to your editorial.

That's awesome! I think everyone should be able to share our own interests with people in different countries.

English is my second language, so I sometimes have trouble finding others that speak the same language, I naturally speak, here in America.

So, ya...take Potter around the world. Woo-hoo!

That's really wonderful! I would love to be able to do that someday as well in another country. Harry Potter can really help people get through troubles, despite what others say. It's really nice that you got away from your fear of speaking Italian.

I agree, harry potter is great. I have read the fifth and am working on the first one in French. Now i'm the nerd in my french class, adn i know extremly helpful words like "balai" (broomstick). Yeah, it's not a word on my french test, but it makes you a more interesting person. Keep it up.

that was great! i too had the same reluctance to speak another language-- in my case spanish -- and it becomes that much easier when you find some common ground. What a wonderful way to finally fully enjoy italy. finally talking to someone and even better about harry potter!

I own a few of the Harry Potter books in French and in German. I have a bit of an understanding of the French language and have read the first three books in French. It has really enhanced my understanding of the language, plus it's really impressive to sit around reading a whole novel in French!

I've never had a lesson in German. However, I recently became good friends with the German foreign exchange student who is just about as nutty over HP as I am. The two of us have spent whole class times reading slowly through the German Harry Potter books. It's a really cool type of bonding with someone from a foreign country.

I spent a year living in Rome in 2000. My Italian was pretty darn good too, but after a few years without practice I felt I was losing it. So - I bought the first 2 books in Italian (amazon has them) and have been working my way through them.

Whatever it takes to learn the language, right?

That is really cool. I have the first book in Italian (Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale) and I just love to read it. I've take two semesters of Italian (in college) and I was surprised how easy it is to follow along (but that could just be because I have it virtually memorized in English ). I wish I had done something as cool as buy it in Italy, though...I only got mine at Barnes and Noble. I'm eventually going to get all six, though
