More to Gregory Goyle?

Honestly, I still think that both Crabbe and Goyle are like every other school yard bully out there - they have things they are better at than others (note I didn't say they were good at those things, just better.)
I don't think the Crabbes or the Goyles threatened anyone so that they would pass. Any of the teachers who would have passed them on that basis would have passed them based simply on their relationship with Malfoy in the first place, and possibly based just on who their fathers were. Threats wouldn't be needed or important on either side.
A look at their teachers...
1. McGonagall - no way she would have passed either of the boys if their work wasn't deserving
2. Hagrid - I still can't help but think that he would be much more likely inclined to become angry at the Crabbes for attempting to use him in such a manner
3. Flitwick - an interesting choice, but he is still a quite capable wizard. He wouldn't pass them on any grounds, especially not with Dumbledore for back-up.
4. Binns - Come on, the guy's a ghost. What threat could they have made to scare him so badly that he'd help them out?
5. Snape - probably didn't need threats to help the kid gloss over his grades, assuming that he didn't earn at least a pass in the first place?
6. Sinistra - an interesting choice, because we know so little about her
7. Trelawney - Face it, the Crabbes probably would have felt more creeped out by her than she would have felt fearful of them

No, I think that there HAS to be another explanation for Crabbe and Goyle managing to pass for so long. Maybe they recieved tutoring? Maybe they really are hidden geniuses (although I admit, if that's the case, they are also quite accomplished as actors! )? Maybe everyone just takes them for granted? Or maybe they've been cheating off Draco the whole time? I don't know the reason, but I am quite sure that it wasn't because the Hogwarts teachers felt threatened by them.

i personally think that these two ronies always barely pass. But honestly, there is nothing more to Goyle. He is just a crony and a pawn in Malfoys little plan.

I cannot account for it, but somehow, I've grown a little fond of the kid. *ducks and cowers* it's just a whim, I know, and I couldn't even say why it is Goyle and not Crabbe (I suspect though that it might be the name) but I admit it, I have some hope to see him with something of a bigger role - maybe an actual line...? - in DH.
