also, i was thinking about the whole draco being a werewolf and possibly biting hermione thing, and what if (definite WHAT IF) the thing draco shows Borgin is a werewolf bite, rather than the dark mark like we are made to believe...

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
I was thinking...
1. Lily being able to see more of people 2. Snape standing between the trio and a werewolf 3. The observation that Hermione had the "soul of an old maid" or whatever--bad news for Ron.

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
I just watched the PoA film again recently in preparation for OotP, and one line caught my attention that I don't think was brought up in these types of threads before-in the Shrieking Shack, Sirius says something to Snape about Snape "always putting his clever mind to work figuring out what he sees and, as usual, coming to the wrong conclusion." Now, that seemed really interesting to me as it hints at some event in the Marauders/Snapes past in which Snape snooped around and came to the wrong conclusion? Have we heard of such an event?

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
One of the real simple foreshadowing events that I caught the last time I watched the PoA movie was that Buckbeak saves Harry (and Hermione) from the werewolf attack. This is not in the book. The kids are hiding in Hagrid's hut in the book. Buckbeak also stops Snape from attacking Harry in HBP. So this could be one of the events that JK Rowling would consider to be foreshadowing.

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
One thing is for sure, she made mention of it in an interview where she said that Alfonso wanted to place Hagrid's hut or something somewhere and she said that he couldn't do that because the graveyard goes there. In HBP we never see a graveyard, just Dumbledore's ceremony. Where is his body placed?

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
I think the moments are mostly the Ron and Hermione bits:
1.)The two of the holding hands at the sight of Buckbeak. 2.)The bit where they're stood at the Shrieking Shack and Hermione asks if Ron wants to move a little closer' but she actually means closer to the Shack. But maybe also the continuous mentioning of how Harry has Lily's eyes is important too. |

I thought Jo said plainly that the foreshadowing was when Hermione and Ron held hands in the movie. This was not really looked at again until the end of the 6th book, and even then we did not know where they were going.

Here is an interview where JK Rowling mentions the foreshadowing.

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
I think I have stated this on several other boards, but this fits here too!
the scene at the lake- sirius's soul rises from his mouth and is getting ready to get sucked out by dementors. I think Harry is a horcrux, and that is how voldy's soul will be removed while still allowing Harry to remain himself. Harry has to overcome his worst fear (dementors) to destroy a horcrux. |

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
But if Harry is a horcrux, won't he have to kill himself to destory a part of Voldy's soul? If he does, who will kill Voldemort? Or will Voldemort just get stronger, eventually taking over both Muggle and wizard worlds? Or if Harry dosn't have to kill himself, will he sacrifice himself in the act of killing Voldemort, like using Pettigrew's curse that blasted a city block and 13 people to kingdom come? Augh!!! It hurts my brain! *runs for the Tylenol*

Re: Foreshadowing in the PoA Film
On the train, Lupin cast "Expecto Patronum" without speaking the incantation. This ability isn't brought up until HBP.

Re: Is the PoA's Conversation on the Bridge more important than it seems?
After reading book 6, I think it just means that "everyone who knew her loved her" as Slughorn said.

Re: Can the films help us determine what's important for future books? v2
I think that the films can definately help us see what's going to be important in the future: for instance Kreacher. We know that JKR told the OotP people not to cut him or else they'd be in a bind when movie seven comes out so obviously Kreacher's going to be important in some way. I don't think we can depend too much on the movie's though because each director puts their own views and theories into their movie.
