CoS Forums - New Changes & Features

Greetings everyone

CoS has been upgraded and there are some new features to take into account. Firstly I'm going to hide images behind an expand tag, as some images may well be quite big.

Here's the first thing to notice

• New Profile Look & Feel

New Profile:

1. Take a moment to look at your profile. You can still edit everything from within Magical Me.

2. You'll notice you can add Visitor Messages to a person's profile. This option can be disabled via your options page.

3. At the bottom right of the profile you'll see 'Recent Visitors' which is fairly self-explanatory.

4. You'll also be able to see your personal photo albums & social groups you're a part of. More of that later down the page.

• Customization of Profile

I borrowed some of the images from the vBulletin developers. It's a lot easier to show off. Begin by going into your profile and click on Customize Profile. (Images from vB) Next select the scheme you wish to use. Please note, background image must come from within your albums. (Images from vB) Once you've selected your customized profile you can preview it to check you've got everything in the right place (Images from vB) Your final customized profile will look as you wish it to.

• Buddy List changes

As part of the new social function that CoS has taken on, the Buddy List has changed slightly.

Buddy List:

1. To ask for a mutual friendship check the 'Friend' box to the right and click 'Save Changes'.

2. To take someone off your contact list, uncheck the box in the left of their avatar. A message will appear asking if you are sure. Confirm or cancel.

• Photo Albums

You can now have your own personal photo album and photos to your profile.

Photo Album Walkthrough:

Go to your Magical Me and click on Pictures and Albums. NOTE: You can access albums via your Profile as well. Click Add Album. Name your album, set a description and add permissions as you see fit. Select the number of photos from your computer Once you've uploaded your photos they will look like this (note: I had to 'borrow' this image from the vBulletin developer who made the software. None of those images relate to me) You can click on one of the photos to expand it to it's original size.

• Social Groups

CoS Forums allow members to create their own Social Groups.

Creating a Social Group:

Go to your Magical Me and click on Social Groups. NOTE: You can access albums via your Profile as well. You can create a new social group or search on a new group. Create a Social Group. On this page you can set up how you want your group to be, from public to invite-only. You can add photos or not. Be warned though, Admins & Moderators can see all groups. This is how your group will look You can edit or delete your group from this page, as well as moderate any new members to the group.

• Tags

Thread starters can now add tags to their own threads.

When composing a new topic, you have a tag box under your message box where you can relevant tags When you submit your thread, the tags appear at the bottom. Only staff have edit rights to tags. You may not delete or edit them.

• Owlery expanded

On the main page you'll see in your Owlery has a drop down button next to it. This allows you to manage various features the site now offers.

• Lightbox Viewer for Attachments

You can view images in a lightbox. Click on the image below to see for yourself.
