Actually it was done in ImageReady. It may be a smaller file size because of the amount of colors and the amount of frames. I also saved it in the highest resolution, IIRC. It has 27 frames. Not sure if that's more or less than what you guys have. Stuff with textures and more frames would probably take up more file space.

If I were you Voldemorts8thHorcrux I wouldn't cut out frames, I'd reduce the dimensions.

Wow... see, that's a great bit of advice. I didn't think of reducing the colours (not that this would work for ours!

I can tell you that I reduced our animated icon from almost 2 MB down to 700 K by cutting out frames - the animation had been FAR too fiddly. It's perhaps a bit jerky now, while the original was really smooth - but it got it down from 98 frames to 46, and brought about the reduction in size. I bet yours is animated so economically that you really could not cut out any frames - but that might not be the case with every other icon. I can't tell with the Voldemort icon, so it might be a thing to try.

In our case, with that amount of colours our icon would still have to be a minute 70x70 pixels (!!!) to actually be below 100K, so I gave up on it! I know, that's an extreme case, - but with an icon that has more than a few colours reducing the number of frames might be the only way to go, in addition to reducing the size.

We had technical glitches at the last minute when we tried to post an animated banner last night. I don't know why mine, when uploaded to my album, became static. I'm trying it here to see if it works.

That happened to me too, with the original, without the explosion, but once we remade it, we got it to work.
