The life and loves in the house of Ravenclaw!
Okay this is the first ever story I have written, So I expect it to be poop, and I'm not good with titles but hopefully I will come up with a better one than I have for my Fan-Fic.
I would adore feedback please. Thank you for looking. --------------------------------- Chapter one The Journey As Adelaide stepped onto the Hogwarts Express she thought that some people would hate the thought of going to school on their birthday, but this would be the third year that Adelaide had spent most of her day on the Hogwarts Express. Adelaide heaved her trunk onto the train with the help of her mum and dad, when she had put it safely in the corridor of the train she turned to her parents to say goodbye. 'Happy Birthday, darling!' her mum told her. 'Thanks, mum.' 'Now we got you a surprise but we want you to open it on the train because we knew you would want to show Kate first' her father said. 'You know me so well!' said Adelaide in fake modesty. The train whistle blew, and students made their goodbyes and headed towards the train. 'We hope you have a brilliant year' said her father. 'Yeah, now come on, give me a hug and go get comfy' said her mum holding her arms out for a hug. 'I will miss you so much, 'Adelaide said hugging her mum, 'both of you.' she said hugging her dad. Adelaide knew her dad got very emotional saying goodbye at a train entrance because she is the only child they have and she has to leave them for most of the year. 'Get on with you.' her dad told her 'We will see you at Christmas.' 'Bye!' Adelaide said as she shut the train door. All over the station she heard the shouts of 'Bye' and 'Miss you' from parents and siblings. Then the train started to pull out of the station, Adelaide waved for as long as possible, she loved her parents dearly and didn't like leaving them. As the train turned round the corner and she lost sight of her parents, she picked up her trunk and started walking down the train to see Kate, she knew Kate would have found the other girls from their dormitory. Adelaide found them about half way down the train and was greeted by a scream, which she returned just as enthusiastically. She was then blinded by a wave of blonde hair. 'You found us!' was screeched in her ear. 'Yes I did' Adelaide replied pulling out of the hug so she could move away from the screaming. The screaming girl was Kate, Adelaide's best friend at Hogwarts. Kate was a loud young woman, with a scream worse than a banshees, but Kate was Adelaide's best friend so she was able to over look that. 'Hi!' Adelaide heard a group of voices say to her. She looked round the carriage and saw the smiling faces of the three girls from her year Megan, Lucy and Abigail. 'It's really good to see you.' said Lucy 'Yeah! How was your summer holidays?' said Abigail 'They were fantastic!' Adelaide said, 'Of course I missed my girls. How were you holidays?' she added asking no-one in particular, but knowing who would answer first. 'My were brilliant!' came the voice everyone was expecting, they all turned to the blonde haired girl 'Me and my family went to the south of France for two weeks and never guess who my brother thought he saw...' After a while Adelaide zoned her out and waited patiently till she was finished with her story. Adelaide knew that Kate didn't mean to be attention seeking but it was the only way she knew because she came from a large family, she had 3 brother and 2 sisters, and even though Adelaide came from a small family and didn't have to be the loudest to get attention, she could empathise with Kate. 'Anyway,' said Kate bringing her back to reality, 'Happy Birthday!' and with those words she gave Adelaide a present. 'Aww, thanks mate!' she said to Kate and ripped open her present and found a journal, which was bound with a colourful cover. Adelaide opened the book and flicked though and could already imagine herself writing in it and filling the pages with her thoughts and feelings. 'I love it thanks so much!' and she hugged Kate. 'This is from Abigail and me' said Megan handing Adelaide a package. Adelaide ripped off the package and found a box of chocolate. 'You know the way to my heart!' said Adelaide, pretending to well up with tears. 'And this is mine.' Lucy said handing over her gift, Adelaide opened up present and found a new quill. 'This quill is beautiful, thank you, Lucy!' Adelaide said hugging her 'Well I knew that Kate bought you the journal so I got you a quill to go with it' said Lucy. 'Yeah and you can eat the chocolate while writing in the journal with the quill. Sorted.' said Abigail. 'Well I don't know what to say apart from thank you for these beautiful presents.' 'You missed one' pointed out Megan. They all turned and looked at the box that Adelaide's parents had given her earlier. 'Oh yeah, I nearly forgot about this one!' said Adelaide, and picked it up. 'My mum and dad gave me it earlier, and told me to open it on the train.' She picked it up. 'I wonder what it is' 'Only one way to find out.' said Kate. With that Adelaide ripped off the wrapping and found a black box that would fit in the palm of your hand, Adelaide opened the box carefully and inside found a pair of pearl earrings. 'Oh wow, they are beautiful.' was the reaction from the carriage. 'Look there's a note.' said Lucy. Adelaide just noticed the note, it was in the top part of the box folded really small so it would fit. She pulled it out, and unfolded it. It said: We figured you might need something to help set your dress robes apart from everyone else's for the Yule Ball. Hope you love them. Mum and Dad. 'Now I know why my mum and dad asked me to open them on the train, I would still be hugging them now.' The rest of the journey was spent catching up, not to say that they hadn't sent letters to each other every week. The sweet cart came along and they all ordered some chocolate. It started to get dark outside so they decided to change into their school robes, all had brand new robes except for Abigail, who was wearing her elder sister Jessica robes'. Who was blatantly a larger fit than Abigail. Then the train started slowing down and finally pulled into Hogsmeade station. All five girls left the train and started to make their way to the carriages. They heard the usual shout of 'Firs' years this way please, firs' years' They found an empty carriage and climbed on. When the last girl (who was Megan) climbed on, the carriage started to move. 'I'm glad it's not raining,' said Kate, 'I hate it when it rains and you have to enter the Great Hall looking like a drowned rat.' she added looking deadly serious. They just laughed. 'What I'm being serious!' she protested with a pout. ------------------------------ Thanks for reading! Feedback would be brilliant!

Re: The life and loves in the house of Ravenclaw!
An update. I would love feedback, please.
BTW I don't take any credit for the song, that goes to J.K. Rowling. ![]() ------------------- Chapter Two The Feast The castle started to come into view after about 20 minutes, and all the girls stepped off the carriage and made their way into the entrance hall. They were meet by Peeves looking for some fun, it seems he had spent the summer pulling chewing gum off the tables in classrooms, and for 'laughs' started chucking it at all the students in his eye line. 'This is perfect!' Kate said as she dodged a rather large piece of chewing gum flying her way. 'I would rather have rain.' 'No you wouldn't,' Adelaide said pulling her robes above her head to lessen the chance of getting hit. 'PEEVES!' came the shout, but as it was so loud it sounded like it came from all around. Finally Megan nudged Adelaide and nodded towards a stern looking woman, who was very straight backed with her hair in a tight knot at the back of her head. 'Peeves!' We heard her say again, 'If I have to shout for the Bloody Baron again you will be in a lot of trouble.' Peeves just stuck out his tongue and threw the rest of the chewing gum high in the air and flew off cackling. Screams came from down below and there was a sudden charge into the Great Hall. But Professor McGonagall just whipped out her wand uttered a few words and the chewing gum disappeared. 'Thanks, Professor McGonagall' They said. 'Yes, well I knew he was planning something.' Professor McGonagall told them, 'Now I've got to go meet the first years, enjoy the sorting, ladies.' They all filed into the Great Hall, and found seats quite near the front so they would be able to watch the sorting easily. After everyone in the hall had sat down the doors of the hall opened and in filed Professor McGonagall along with the new first years, who, Adelaide thought, looked rather small, she turned to Kate and said, 'Do you reckon we ever looked that small.' Kate replied with a quizzical look. 'What? They do look small.' Adelaide argued. Kate just laughed and turned back to the sorting. All eyes were on the hat wondering what it was going to sing about this year. The the hat opened his brim and said: Oh, you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can top them all. There's nothing hidden in your head The Sorting Hat can't see, So try me on and I will tell you Where you ought to be. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, If you've a steady mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folk use any means To achieve their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And don't get in a flap! You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap! They all clapped and laughed. 'Now when I call your name you will step forward I shall place the sorting hat on your head and sort you into your houses.' Professor McGonagall told the first years. ' Allen, Clark' Professor McGonagall said. A boy stepped forward who looked whiter than a ghost, and Adelaide was able to compare this since the Grey Lady, the ghost of Ravenclaw house was standing near by. The boy had the sorting hat placed on his head and after a few moments the hat shouted out 'Hufflepuff'. From the table next to the Adelaide's table came roar of cheers. After a few more first years had been sorted, one in Ravenclaw to which Adelaide and Kate clapped loudly, Kate turned round to Adelaide and they started talking about the new year. 'Shh' came the interruption. Neither girl needed to turn round to know who had told them to be quiet. 'Your meant to be watching the sorting not gassing on about who has the best nail varnish,' said Oliver, a boy in their year, he would be attractive and Adelaide would be able to admit her life long passion to be with him if it was for the fact that he was a complete nincompoop. 'Who said anything about nail varnish?' said Kate, as she knew Adelaide wouldn't be able to retort to what Oliver said, as she was too busy blushing. They stopped arguing and clapped as Natalie Reynolds was sorted into Ravenclaw. Adelaide heard Oliver talking to his friend Ethan Harvey, she turned round slowly to see if she could see what they were talking about, unfortunately for her at that time the Gryffindor table let out a huge cheer, so she missed what was said but as she looked at them, they were looking at her and stop talking immediately. That's odd, she thought, and turned back to the sorting. She decided to tell Kate later, as she would make a fuss. When the sorting had finished the tables magically filled with food, they all dived in and started eating. Oliver and Ethan didn't talk to Adelaide or Kate for the rest of the meal, but Adelaide felt a little uncomfortable throughout the meal. When all had had their fill Professor Dumbledore stood up to give the beginning of year speech. 'Hello to old students and hello to new students, it is lovely to see you all back. Now that we have all finished eating I have a few notices to give out. Mr. Filch has asked me to remind you that there is a list of banned items posted up outside his office if anyone wants to go and inspect it,' he stopped for a moment and gave a hint of a smile, 'also, the forest is out of bounds at all times, thank you. May I say, have a wonderful year.' They all stood up and headed for the main entrance doors. Kate pulled a little on Adelaide's robes and Adelaide understood what this meant and slowed down. When the hall was more empty than it had been Kate finally spoke. 'What were Babbitty and Rabbitty talking about when I turned back?' I'm not sure,' started Adelaide and she told Kate what she saw. 'Eww, that was weird,' 'I know!' The rest of the journey was spent discussing on what Oliver and Ethan were talking about. Some sounded kind of sensible till Kate mentioned that they could have been talking of their undying love for each other, and they both howled with laughter. They got to the fifth floor and started climbing the spiral staircase to get to the Ravenclaw common room entrance. 'Ooo, I love this bit,' she then turned to the bronze knocker in the shape of an Eagle and knocked 'Okay, hit with your best one!' The beak of the Eagle opened and said, 'I went into the woods and got it, I sat down to seek it, I brought it home with me because I couldn't find it. What is it?' Kate then didn't look so confident and the smile drooped a little. Adelaide said, 'A splinter,' 'Yeah, yeah a splinter,' said Kate planting her smile back on her face, 'I was just about to say that.' 'You are destined for greatness.' said the door and swung open. The common was nearly empty with everyone being so tired after the feast. Adelaide and Kate passed the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw on their way to the dormitories Kate gave the head of the statue a tap and said, 'It's good to be back.' ------------------ Thank you for reading. Feed back would be Brilliant
