I guess my wonderful english teacher is very inspiring, though. She's fab.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

I get inspired by anything. It could be a story in the Bible, a movie, my life, or an author.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

I can get inspiration from anywhere and anyone. Occasionally, though, it may be a dream or an event that has happened in my life. Most times, however, whenever I'm feeling low on ideas, I'll go to a place where I know people will be themselves, and I sit. It could be a cafe, coffee house, park, or nearby school (though be careful here, things could get hairy if you're questioned about why you're there).

Once you have a decent idea, and, as writers, we know what a decent idea for a story is, continually think about your character(s) and your plot. I have a story now that I've been rolling around in my head for months. I think about it all the time, even if I don't have time to write. As the story begins to grow and mature in your mind, moving for scene to scene, dialogue to dialogue, inspiration becomes less about outward influence and more about inward reflection. Then, God willing, you can let your imagination go wild. Happy writing.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

The English teachers at my school are all very inspiring. They read a great deal, and are so enthusiatic to teach English, and they always seem to come out with something on the spot that is really great. I also find my fellow friends very inspiring. Many of them are so good at writing and reading their work always leaves me in awe.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

Music (I love discoving a new song that I really like - really good for inspiration), weather (rain especially - I don't what exactly about it), and sometimes a line I read in a book or watch in a movie. Really it can come from anything though.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

I think my inspiration would have to be a dear friend who has been editing my work since my very first Harry Potter fanfic piece. She's pushed me to keep writing and stuck with me when my ideas fell through. If not for her, I probably wouldn't be able to even consider writing the original piece I'm doing now. =)

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

Let's see....First, J.K. Rowling, of course, then my social studies teacher, then a bunch of other authors. One is Stephenie Myers, and another one is Caroline Keene. People that have wrote major series, whether they are good, or not. I think that they are awesome because they have followed their dreams, as I am doing.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

The person who inspired me to write was Donald Woods- the South African journalist who wrote Biko, the life of Steven Biko. Between the two of them, they brought knowledge of apartheid to the world at large, at great personal cost. I will never forget reading that book- it changed the way I saw the world and challenged my thought of journalism, forming it into a new medium for me.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

I am inspirated by all books I read, and sometimes I just get inspiration from nowhere, a song a movie, a person etc. Tolkien has inspired me most of all authors.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

I think all the real life experiences have a big influence in my writing. And of course travelling is a major inspiration and provides me with lot of subject matter for it.

I think the 'Middle Space Columns' (letters to editor) in the newspaper was the first thing that inspired me.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

My two inspirations are Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling. I like writing romance stories, but I also like to make sure that it's fictional with a twist.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

I too create soundtracks for my writing. Music greatly inspires me. The sounds create images in my head. Usually classical, trance or some form of music without lyrics seem to do the trick.

What inspired me to start writing was reading works from Edgar Allan Poe and H.P.Lovecraft.

What inspires me now a days is new stuff, unique and original ideas. Things I haven't seen or heard done before.

Re: Your Writing Inspiration

Well i don't know if I could call myself a writer yet, but I have been working on many ideas.
My biggest inspiration is PJ Harvey. Yes, she's a musician but I make no distinction between media. Another big inspiration is another musician, Kate Bush. As far as authors, my biggest influences are Sarah Waters, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Radclyffe Hall, Zora Neale Hurston, Washington Irving and JK Rowling. Over all, I would say that PJ Harvey, Sarah Waters and Nathaniel Hawthorne are the three who made me realize I had to write.

Most of my ideas come to me in dreams or from quite observation of the natural world around me. Therefore, most of my ideas tend to involve, at some point, one to a few people going about alone in a natural setting.
