Dan and Emma have amazing chemistry as actors, but people complaining about the dance scene are, IMO, making 'much ado about nothing'; yes, we know that, in the books, Harry and Hermione have a very brotherly/sisterly relationship, but that doesn't in any way, shape, or form negate or invalidate the idea that, had things played themselves out differently, their relationship could have taken a much different turn at any point throughout the course of the overall story, and DH in particular; even JKR states as much in the above-mentioned quote.

I don't think our opinions about the dance, or mine anyway, I'm not sure what yours are should just be dismissed because JK Rowling is ok with it, or saying that clearly I just missed it because I read through the end and saw Hermione end up with Ron.
Personally I couldn't care less what JKR says about things after the book has been written. I agree that for me it only makes sense to talk about what you personally think was happening in a certain scene and not about what the author thinks about it.

I know that i didn't expect for there to be anything sensual about the Harry/Hermione dance and while i do not think there was an almost kiss at the end, i did think that there was something at the beginning about how they were noticing each other. I do think though that they made it feel like that when Harry starting pulling Hermione, but then once they actually started dancing it wasn't that at all, so i am fine with it.

I think Dan wasn't very good in the scene because he was being Dan instead of Harry, but that happens with him.
