Re: FREE graphics programs, all platforms!

Ok to get this straight you are asking how to upload something on photobucket?

Here is a short tutorial

Spoiler: show

Can you find this screen? Well click on choose file and your files should pop up. Ususally when you save something from GIMP or whatever program you use it defaults to the picture file. You'll just have to dig around in the files to find where you saved it

Select the file you want to upload. It should be highlighted. Click open, the load will start automatically

This is what it will look like as it loads

This message will appear after it is done loading

Your image should appear like this underneath the loading area

We should have a general graphics tips and tricks thread I know there is a HP tutorial thread but I think just general tuts and tips for basic iconing would be nice

Re: FREE graphics programs, all platforms!

Is there a good program out there that I can use to animate icons or signatures?

I have GIMP right now, but I am pretty sure I can't animate there.

Actually, you can animate in GIMP. I'm not sure how, but if you look at the help thing or just look around the toolbar on it you should be able to find out.

Re: FREE graphics programs, all platforms!

I'm using GIMP, and what I'm trying to do is cut out an elliptical region - I'm still fuzzy on how to deal with 'selections' as opposed to 'layers' in this format anyway, but I'm sort of trying to crop and have it be circular instead of square. I want to cut out a circular object from the original picture and layer it onto another one. How do I cut a circular object out of a picture on GIMP?

EDIT: Ah-ha! Figured it out. In case anyone else is wondering how to do this, what I did was use the elliptical select tool (which I'd already done, actually), then went to "Edit" and chose "Cut to clipboard." Then I just opened up another image and pasted the info on the clipboard onto the new one as a layer.

Re: FREE graphics programs, all platforms!

If anyone's interested, I recently discovered an online photo editor. It doesn't require any downloading. It's not an amazing full featured program, but you can do a lot of basic image adjustments and filters and it supports layers!
