Re: Study Hall with Hermione
The only time I'm like Hermione is my reading. I'll read books like her spend hours in a library. Re-read books. I don't study like her though. Tomorrow I have a history test and I only just started and I got distracted on the fourms because it's my easiest subject so I rely mainly on my brain to help me remember it.

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
Well, I don't really study for the most part, except for my history exam last year, for which I made a study schedule of what notes to review on what days...everything other than that, I usually remember pretty well, so I manage to maintain really high grades with minimal effort. For homework and such, I get it all done when it's assigned, instead of not getting any sleep the night before a project is due because of lack of organization. All my friends say I'm exactly like Hermione, but I don't think I'm quite there yet...

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
I never did like study hall. When I was a freshman in H.S., many moons ago, it was mandatory for freshmen to take, older students had an option to take or not take. If you worked it right, you could have all your classes together, one after another and leave early for the day. This was useful if you were in the work/study program. Unfortunately, this was open to just juniors and seniors so the lowly soph had the option of taking study hall, without leaving early for the day.

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
I didn't even have any study halls, I filled up my schedule with too many classes to even take a lunch...

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
I had a very retentive memory when I was in school, so I rarely had to study very much. I'd retain about 80 to 85 % of what was said during lectures, and would skim through the textbook for about an hour the night before a major exam.

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
Do you fool around in study hall? I remember spending time just reading books instead of actually studying.

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
I didn't have study hall until my senior year of high school. Band was my life in high school, so I often hung out in the band room when I finally had study hall. If I had a test coming up, I'd stay in the study hall room, reading and reviewing my notes.

I was usually drawing pictures instead of studying in study hall.

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
Never had an actual study hall in school. I think I could have used one, though. I'm not like Hermione, so I procrastinated and waited til the last minute. Thinking about it, maybe a study hall wouldn't have been a good idea.

Re: Study Hall with Hermione
When I went to H.S. many moons ago, only freshmen were required to go to study hall. Everyone else it was optional. Of course, Seniors didn't need study hall, unless they were doing poorly in class, in which case, study hall would not have helped.
Study Hall in my day was in a classroom, with a teacher who took attendance. That was it. If you had a question about your assignment, the teacher might give you suggestions, but he would tell you to talk to the teacher who gave you the homework. Usually, they pointed out where the dictionary was, and if there was a math question, they couldn't help you unless it was simple math. So, study hall didn't matter. Students couldn't just be wandering the halls, and the library was used if needed, but a true study hall was just a place to hang around until your next class. |
