"Sweet and lovely" isn't enough Lyra - we need more details!

Looks in sees no sign of Snape anywhere sighs and flops down in the best comfy chair. I swear that man hates to see any student relaxing and enjoying themselves . Pulls out the latest copy of "Wizard Sports Illustrated" and relaxes for the evening.

That looks like an interesting magazine you have there.

Sorry; I'd have posted more, but the library computer was saying I only had four minutes left and I wanted to clear my cookies before it logged me off.

Let's see...Lyra's wedding was scheduled to be a very small family ceremony at the church where Lyra and Sage have been attending services since about last Easter.

We had a best man, a maid of honor/florist, my BeckaFly as flower girl, MeMum to play the Wedding March, a photographer (who happens to be my maid of honor's mom) and two guests, one of whom was my other daughter, VickyLynnPotter on this site.

Also the Pastor as officiant, his secretary as a bit of a wedding co-ordinator, one of the assitant pastors and a couple young guys who were mostly just there moving chairs around.

We started a couple minutes late, because the coordinator peeked in and saw I was still playing with my curling iron and assumed that meant I wasn't ready. I was, though; I had just wanted to curl as much of my hair as I had time to before 1:00. So we started! My maid of honor went out, then BeckaFly throwing petals--some new fresh petals, and some dried ones from roses Sage brought me as much as five years ago. Then the coordinator tried to get MeMum's attention so she would switch from playing "Always" to "Here comes the Bride," but it took a while for Mum to get the message!

MeMum finally noticed, though, and I came out when the first measures of HCTB started. I walked over to my Sage, we walked up to the pastor together, and we had a very short&sweet ceremony. We exchanged vows and rings, kissed, and walked back down as Mr. and Mrs. I had to go back out to my car to get the documents, because I had failed to bring them in. lulz.

We got our paperwork in order, and signed, and left the church. We went to MeMum's house to grab the cat and a few other things that I hadn't packed, and headed for our new house! the house is actually 98 years old, having been built in 1914. I love it though, it's cool and old and has shelves and drawers built into the bedroom walls for clothes and books, and best of all it's ours, our own home! For Sage and Me! We've been waiting a very long time for this.

Tinkerbelle freaked out a bit, and for most of the first week she would run in terror and hide anytime anyone, including Sage or I, came to the back door. But she's happy there now. Except that we won't let her go outside. Too much traffic, and too high a chance that she'd get lost trying to find her way back to MeMum's where she's lived since she was a month and a half old.

Sage and I are very happy to be married at last. We even have the post office delivering mail to us now. We actually had to go to the central office and fill out a form saying the house isn't vacant anymore, because they were marking our mail "Undeliverable, unable to forward, return to sender" until we went and told them that somebody lives there now.

But we have no ISP at our new house. So I can only come online from the library or from school computers. That's why I only pop in rarely! Hopefully I'll be back soon. I love you guys! Have fun, and don't forget to glomp Theresa if she ever comes back again. Where's she been, anyway?

Re: The Seventh Hogwarts Common Room

It sounds a lovely, quiet and personal wedding Lyra. I'm glad it all went well.

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and I'm not really looking forward to it much. I'm invited to the ceremony and the evening disco. I always find that a bit irritating as you dress up for church, come home and change to do housework and then have to get dressed up again to go out in the evening. I'm not that fond of discos either! I don't mind not going to the reception (I've seen the menu - I really don't mind not going!) as I know you can't cater for everybody, but I'd rather just go to the ceremony and then stay home. I'm a grumpy old woman! In my day (I was married in 1969) you just had the wedding and reception, then went off on honeymoon. Nowadays you seem to have to get everyone you know along in the evening too - is it the same in the States?

Sounds wonderful, Lyra! Hope you enjoy married life. Do please get an ISP at your house, so we can talk to you more often.

The weddings I've been to here in the U.S. were mostly just as you described...wedding, reception, and off to the honeymoon. There is sometimes a pre-wedding dinner and event for guests/blended family members some days before that, but not always.

Re: The Seventh Hogwarts Common Room

I've never heard of a disco after the wedding reception, either. I have been to a few wedding receptions that included dancing, but not a whole separate dance party at a different venue with a different guest list and all.

I think the saddest thing I ever saw at a wedding was a beautiful Russian bride whose groom didn't dance. I know it's a Russian tradition that not dancing at your wedding = bad luck for the marriage, and while the bride was very pretty dancing alone at her reception, it was also very sad that her groom was just sitting there watching. He looked a bit of a cad at the time, actually.

I've never heard of a wedding reception after party. These people must love to party.

I disappear for four months and there's only ten more pages? The Common Room isn't nearly as lively as it used to be.

And do my eyes deceive me? Lyra, congratulations! I hope you enjoy married life!

Re: The Seventh Hogwarts Common Room

^ i try to pop in once a week, and I've only been seeing a few posts.

my rabbit died in my arms tonight. she actually waited until i got home. i don't want the sympathy/four paws poem or anything else. i just want to celebrate the six years i had her, and i made them the BEST six years she had. according to my friend, she was about 3 or 4 when i got her.

so, party on, my friends.

i got a fish last week, and slytherin colors for the gravel/ decorative pebbles. he's a Betta, and is a light baby blue.

It's because you're not here. Welcome back!

I'm sorry. Having a pet die is no fun. You're losing a family member. Just remember the good times you had.
