William_Brennan

1. If you could spend a day with any Harry Potter character who would you choose and why?
Hermione. She knows a huge amount about magic, and I would want to learn all the details. For example, what is Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration? What are the other 4 principal exceptions? Are there non-principal exceptions? I would want to use this information to answer my own questions; combining magic and technology, I think, could have a great deal of potential. For example, imagine a spacecraft capable of Apparition, or a spell increased in strength by a laser-like chamber. Since spells, in order to output the kind of power they do from objects as small as wands, which last for years, must either violate the First Law of Thermodynamics or involve low-temperature nuclear reactions, there might be some way to use magic to solve our energy problems. And she's Muggle-born, so she'd be able to make fairly intelligent comments and suggestions about those ideas. Finally, she's not breathtakingly beautiful, but she certainly is not ugly, which I would like. (Preferably, this would be a day when Ron wasn't there ).

2. Which Deathly Hallow would you choose?
The wand. The stone scares me--it seems like it would be likely to cause suicide, confusion, serious emotional problems, and interference from dead individuals. (For example, consider what might happen if John Adams was resurrected and influenced our politics; he was progressive for his day, but he was opposed to voting rights for anyone who wasn't a property-holding man. Many people would listen to him because he's a Founding Father.) The cloak is handy, but its uses are limited, and quite a few of the uses are bad ones that one would then be tempted to put it to. With the wand, one can cast a strong enough Disillusionment Charm to amount to almost the same thing, with various other powers useful to yourself and everyone else besides. Like Ron said, as long as you keep your mouth shut, it wouldn't be a problem.

3. Which magical pet would you bring with you to Hogwarts?

An owl. They're by far the most practical/useful.

4. What would be your favorite subject at Hogwarts?
Transfiguration. It would be tough, but I would enjoy making one thing into another, maybe even experimenting.

5. If you could ask J.K. Rowling to write one thing what would it be?
The Standard Book of Spells, Grade Six

6. Would you play Quidditch? If so which position?
Yes, Keeper.

7. Which magical career would you choose?
An inventor/discoverer of new spells and/or potions.

8. What would your patronus be?
A giant killer bee.

9. Which magical place would you most like to visit?
I wouldn't be able to choose among the places in the books. However, if there's some kind of laboratory where new potions and spells are developed, that would definitely be the place for me.
