Suzuran

1. If you could spend a day with any Harry Potter character who would you choose and why?

After checking Wikipedia's list of every character in the series just to be sure, I'd have to say hands down Albus Dumbledore. Rowling describes him as "the epitome of goodness" and someone "who knows pretty much everything". Who better to ask everything I ever wanted to know? If he allowed it, of course. Like for starters, is there a spell or potion that can turn a Muggle into a Wizard? Aside from that I get the impression he's a person you can't help but be changed by in some positive way simply by being in his company. At the very least I'd leave wiser than I arrived.

2. Which Deathly Hallow would you choose?

I'd choose the Invisibility Cloak. The other two don't seem as useful or practical. Why have a wand you'll spend the rest of your (possibly shortened) life fighting to defend and possess, and why call forth the spirits of the dead when it makes them unhappy to return and they can't comfortably exist in the world of the living in their altered states? Neither seems like a good idea.

3. Which magical pet would you bring with you to Hogwarts?

A barn owl. I've always preferred birds, specifically barn owls. There's something about their sweet faces.

4. What would be your favorite subject at Hogwarts?

Transfiguration! I love a challenge. It's sophisticated, elegant magic. Two of my favorite Hogwart's professors taught it - Dumbledore and McGonagall. And last but not least, while it's unclear whether being an Animagus directly requires Transfiguration or Charms or both, it seems mastering Transfiguration would be helpful if you wanted to become one.

5. If you could ask J.K. Rowling to write one thing what would it be?

More children's literature about coming of age. Maybe one about a strong female main character this time.

It seems to me many books these days are being written for the purpose of entertainment only, to help the reader pass a few hours but not much more. I like books that leave the reader a better person for having read them. Or at least a more thinking person. The world needs more books that help form us in good ways and Rowling does that for young people with the HP series. We're touched by good universal truths and reminded what's possible if we only believe.

6. Would you play Quidditch? If so which position?

Yes. Seeker. Constant battle isn't my thing. I'm more of a sit and wait sniper type plus I have good reflexes, so Seeker would suit me I think.

7. Which magical career would you choose?

Magical Law or Hogwart's Professor.

8. What would your patronus be?

A bird of some sort, probably. Maybe an owl.

9. Which magical place would you most like to visit?

Ollivander's Wand Shop. I would love to have my own wand. I think the way the 'wand chooses the wizard' is very exciting.

10. Pick one house you would prefer not to be in. (Optional)

I'll leave this one open.
