I noticed some other really cool things on the show that I totally forgot to mention yesterday. There was helicopter shot of one of the boats where we had a bird's eye view of it steaming through the Bering Sea. Then there were big black numbers in the water. I was like, "What are those numbers? Am I seeing that correctly?" Then that shot melted into an old-looking map and those numbers were on that map. The boat was drawn there on that map and the red crab grounds were highlighted in red. Then the camera panned across the map (the most beautiful map they've ever had on DC) to the blue crab grounds, highlighted in blue, and a drawing of the Wizard, which then morphed into a live shot of the Wizard. Amazing! They really pulled out all the stops for the 100th episode!

I also watched the special that followed on deckhands. For the first ten mintues or so, I was kind of bored because it was mainly showing footage we've already seen before (and also I think because the episode right before it was just so stellar that this one didn't live up to that). But then they moved on to focus on some of the individual deck hands and that was really interesting! They did a segment on Nick of the Northwestern and how he grew up in a fishing family, etc. They showed interviews and pictures we hadn't seen before. It turned out to be a pretty good show. I wish they had done a segment on Freddie, though. He is just so impressive, the positive attitude he always has.

I missed that whole map thing. I'll have to check on Discover to see if they've posted any clips.

Interesting that they highlighted Nick on the deckhands show. I'll check Discover for that, too. Guess I'm going to have to watch that show as well.

I completely forgot when the new season of "Deadliest Catch" began. Needless to say, I missed the first episode, which is not cool. For those who watched it, what happened?

Oh last episode was so scary! A new guy on the Wizard had a really serious medical emergency. The crew thought it was severe dehydration, but the episode ended when Keith was calling the coast guard.

Sorry I haven't been here. I've been too busy to breathe the last few weeks and I've missed all except the first episode.

I'll have to find a way to catch up. Things should slow down a bit next week and I hope to watch it then.

Actually got to watch this week's episode. Wow, Junior sure caught a mess of blue crab. Guess he didn't leave any for Elliot.

Not much Northwestern in this episode. How are the two Jakes doing?

I enjoyed the bet on the Time Bandit. Josh is going to make a good captain once he gets back on the Cornelia Maria.

The two Jakes seem to be doing fine this season. They haven't shown them a whole lot, I guess because there hasn't been any drama there. Jake Harris is a much less cocky kid on the Northwestern it seems. I think working for Sig and Edgar is really good for him. And I was so happy Josh won that bet. I still love Josh.

It's about time Jake Anderson caught a break and I think it's good for Jake Harris to get away from his brother.

Opies starts this week, right? Is Edgar going to take over the wheelhouse for opies? And if he does, will Jake A. be deck boss?

I'm enjoying watching all the back seasons on Netflix. I watch an episode nearly every day.

Yes, opies start this week, but I hadn't heard anything about Edgar taking over the wheelhouse. If he is, they haven't alluded to it at all on the show this season. Maybe they're keeping it a surprise. Where did you hear that?

I didn't hear it anywhere as fact. It's just that when Edgar left the Northwestern, he said he would only be back if he could take the wheelhouse for opies.I can't see Sig letting him do that.

I can't see Sig stepping aside, either. I got the impression that Edgar returned because he just couldn't stay away, didn't know what to do with himself, not because Sig relented. We will see tonight, though!

I missed what Edgar said in the beginning last night, but the outcome on the Northwestern was hilarious. Sig could hardly get the words out and Edgar stalled all he could before going up to the wheelhouse. Sig's expressions with Edgar in the captain's chair were classic.

Good to see Jake A taking over as deck boss.

Looks like the Ramblin' Rose is being left in the dust again.

Can't believe Lynn is messing up so bad on the Wizard. Those pots sliding back and forth. Unbelievable.

Yeah, I loved all the Sig and Edgar interactions. That yikes face Sig made to the camera when Edgar got way off course while writing down the crab count!

And Lynn seems like he is psyching himself out. Keith said as much when he said that once Lynn messes up he starts doing worse and worse. But then Keith kept emphasizing how much the whole boat was relying on Lynn and how it was all on his shoulders, which seems like the exact opposite thing to do to someone with confidence issues. And if it was so crucial to do everything so fast, then why didn't he just put Freddie on the rail? Dude's a machine.

I wondered that myself. Keith was lucky to get Freddie. There's nothing the guy can't do. And not to use him at the rail was just plain dumb.
