Which minor characters in the series do you want to know more about?

This is not a character but I would like to know from JKR as to how is it that the Marauders and the Order never really knew what Peter Pettigrew was up to?

The Marauders being such best friends, how is it that they never really suspected anything fishy about him? Sirius switched his Secret-Keeper status with him. Can we accuse the Order of trusting Pettigrew too much? Sure, you can say, he didn't seem to be 'that type' of a person. I know they were all suspecting the wrong person. Granted, but how did even people like Dumbledore and Moody not suspect anything fishy about Pettigrew? Dumbledore doesn't miss a trick, right? Moody is supposed to be one of the greatest Aurors, right? If not anybody else, at least, Snape would have definitely known what Pettigrew was up to. So, did he deliberately keep his mouth shut? Or was Snape 'advised' by 'someone' to keep his mouth shut, so as to not blow off his own cover of being a double-agent?

The prophecy cannot be given as an excuse (as in what was fated to happen), you know. Who knows what would've happened if the Order had really known what Pettigrew was up to...

Or has JKR already answered my questions?

I'd love to know more about the evolution of James & Lily's relationship, Wormtail, Tonks, & The Order. Honestly, I'd love a prequel series. I doubt one will ever happen, but I'd still love to see one.

I would say Seamus because Neville was shown more offten and talked about more and the only thing we really know about Seamus is that he is a half-blood wizard from his mom's side and that he's Irish

Let's go back in time a bit. We know what the wizarding world in the 20th/21st century is like, what about in the dark ages circa King Arthur's court? What about the witch hunts? What about when the wizarding world went underground?

Well,since there are titles and awards like The Order of Merlin which is only given upon wizards and witches who have achieved great deeds. That would indicate that perhaps Merlin was in fact the greatest wizard ever!
We don't see anyone getting an award that carries Dumbledore's name. . .
So it would mean that Merlin's achievements were so great that it deserved 1st, 2nd and 3rd class of the Order of Merlin!
Maybe later on Harry Potter got recognition remotely close to that, that someone in the future could accept as title like recognition.

I very much doubt that the "Order of Merlin" existed while he was alive.

I also suspect there's a very good case for there being, at some indeterminate point in the future, an Albus Dumbledore award or something similar.

I'd be interested to know if Sybill Trelawney continued to bestow the wisdom of her Inner Eye on the students of Hogwarts after the demise of Voldemort, or if she was replaced - or the subject dropped entirely?

Hmm.. aren't there enough stories written about Merlin though? I'm not really sure he even counts as a HP character since he exists mostly in the wizarding context rather than in the HP saga itself.

All the stories written about Merlin a) relegate him to a supporting character to king Arthur and henceforth are b) also about the Holy Grail or c) are generally told by muggles (us). It would be interesting to get the "wizarding" version of the King Arthur tales from the wizarding perspective because I don't think they'd be the same and it would be interesting to get a story where Merlin is the main character rather than the wize old sage imparting wisdom and knowledge on the hero of the story (Merlin, in the Arthurian legends, is really the Dumbledore to Arthur's Harry.)

As for whether Merlin is an actual character in the series or not, frankly I don't care. (To me he is an extremely minor character but a character none the less and the thread is about minor character you want to know more about so for me he counts.) He sounds like a really interesting fella and I want to know more about him.

Beedle the Bard would be interesting, too, or generally a story from a character from the dark ages/middle ages/the witch-hunting era.

Merope Gaunt - In CoS, Tom Riddle (memory) said he (Tom) and Harry had been the only Parseltongues to go to Hogwarts since Salazaar Slytherin. What about Merope and Morfin? and their father, Marvolo?

Merope wouldn't have gone to Hogwarts because she was a squib, but good point about Morfin and Marvolo. Maybe they chose not to go to Hogwarts because Muggleborns and Half-bloods were allowed to attend.

Was she a squib? I think her magical abilities suffered because of her depression, repression and anxiety. She was a victim of abuse.

I'd like to know more about Voldemort's family. Did Merope ever attend Hogwarts? Which pure-blood families are they related to? Why did the Gaunts live in those conditions? I'd have suppossed them to have a big fortune being the descendents of an important wizard like Slytherin was.

It'd also be great to know more stuff about the founders. Do Ravenclaw and Gryffindor have and heir? How did they meet? Did they also teach at their own school?

I'm particularly interested about Lockhart's house -I'm sure JK will clear this out in Pottermore. I clearly see him in Slytherin but that's another topic lol- and other stuff about him.

Other random characters: Charlie Weasley -we barely know nothing about him apart from his love for dragons-, the Marauders and Lily -how Lily ended up loving a boy he hated-, Regulus Black and the whole Black family, Cedric Diggory, James' parents and the third generation children.
