NBC's Smash

Just curious, are there any other fans of the television show "Smash"? It's probably one of the best shows I've seen in awhile. Opinions? Criticism's? Comments? Please don't hesitate to share them with me.

I'm watching and I like the show quite a bit. Its interesting to see all the behind the scenes. It loosely reminds me of center stage.

I've seen the first 2 episodes and I enjoyed them. I don't know if I'll continue to watch, but it was certainly interesting. I was hoping Mcphee's character would get the part..

I've only seen the first episode and I don't know. I wasn't that impressed. I was expecting it to be the adult version Glee, but I was sadly disappointed. There were maybe two songs that got me a tiny bit excited but not enough to keep me watching.

I have liked this show. I don't like Debra Messings' son. I am not sure if he is just a bad actor or what is going on there. I actually think that Mcphee will eventually take over as Marilyn from the other girl. This show does seem to have more of a plot then Glee and the songs are more integrated into the show and not so much like a musical as Glee. I am going to keep watching for now.

Also, a little bit of A Chorus Line.

The story lines are getting very interesting. Now that
Spoiler: show
neither Ivy nor Karen are going to be Marilyn, it'll be interesting to see where it goes.

I've enjoyed most of the musical numbers except where Karen is dancing. She looks like a demented giraffe when she dances, although I do like her singing.

Nice to see some sytycd people on there like Alex and Ellenore.

Yes Karen is a bit of an awkward dancer and im not sure if that was supposed to be part of her character or if Kathryn McPhee really just cant dance that well.

Oh man, I totally misse the sytycd alums! How did I miss that? Id wish I would have been paying more attention!

I cant wait to see what happens with the Marilyn show. and the Michael/Julia thing completely broke my heart. That was hard to watch. Julia's poor husband and her son.

I still think that eventually Karen will be Marilyn.

Re: NBC's Smash

I slowly became hooked on this show. I didn't like many of the plot lines (Julia's infidelity for one, Ellis and the peanuts for another) but overall I enjoyed watching how a Broadway show comes together.

I've heard they plan to rejigger the show a bit for season 2 to be more show-biz technical, which should be interesting. And it also sounds like they're going to reduce the drama (probably wise). I'll give it a second chance, I want it too succeed.

I did get to see Christian Borle in Peter and the Starcatcher (which was awesome overall!) and he really made the show. He so mild mannered in Smash, but was so lively and animated in Peter. I think he's going to win a Tony for his performance.

Re: NBC's Smash

I enjoy the show for the most part. There are some moments/episodes that were rather far fetched, but it's a fun show, and I look forward to seeing what comes next season. It's sad that we have to wait until spring though.

But there is some good news - annoying Ellis will be gone next season!!! Also exiting are Dev, Julia's husband, and Michael Swift.

Not surprised Dev is leaving, but I am surprised that Ellis is leaving. Every show needs someone annoying and devious.

I thought Julia and Frank worked things out.

It isn't known if Dev and Ellis will return to wrap up their arcs or not yet, but the article made it sound like Frank and Michael may be in some episodes, but they will eventually leave the show in the second season.

I understand the need for someone devious in the show, but the character of Ellis was way too over the top and creepy almost bordering on intolerable. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about his character, nor could I sympathize with him in any way.

Here's a link to the article if anyone wants to read more - http://tvline.com/2012/05/22/smash-e...t/#more-332342
