Shows that inspired you...

Whether it was personally or otherwise...

What tv show inspired you?

For me...

Murphy Brown did in terms of it's humor and it's gutsiness. Learned quite a bit from watching it, both in terms of comedic timing, and in terms of what was being talked about.

The Golden Girls did in terms of it's sarcasm, blue humor and overall love and caring. Same as Murphy Brown in terms of comedic timing.

The X-Files did in terms of humor, sarcasm and the fact that the stories at times really made me think and wonder about things. Same as Murphy Brown in terms of comedic timing, also... in this show, they showed that you don't have to say much or anything at all to show that something important was happening. It could all be expressed in an expression in the eyes and/or the face.

Frasier did in terms of good acting, humor and writing.

Will and Grace did the same.

All of the above shows and more (ones that I don't remember right now I'll edit in when I can), have inspired me one way or another .

I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Re: Shows that inspired you...

The show that had the most inspiration for me was the Biggest Loser. I had been on the heavy side throughout high school, and my doctor basically made it clear that I was too heavy and needed to lose weight. I technically could have been classified as obese, though I was lucky enough to not appear too big because of my height. Anyway, one day I watched the show (back when Jillian and Bob were the only too trainers) and I became hooked. Watching the show seemed like my own exercise; I basically watched other people suffer and lived vicariously through them. Each year in high school I told myself that specific summer I would lose weight--I never did. Until my senior year in high school, in the middle of it (I couldn't have picked a more random time) with help from watching the Biggest Loser--and with a lot of encouragement from Jillian Micheals, I started going to the gym consistently and the weight came off. I really liked Jillian's no-nonsense approach...she really has become someone I respect and although I don't know her personally, I like to think she played a fairly significant role in helping me become healthy. To this current date, I've lost over 40 pounds and my entire thought process and outlook have changed.

Good for you. While I'm not overweight, many people in my family are, including my parents, my one remaining grandparent, a couple cousins and my aunt is probably morbidly obese and (it sounds terrible but) we're all kind of expecting her to either go into diabetic shock (she's undiagnosed but takes her husband's insulin) or to just drop dead. It's really sad.

I agree, though. In terms of inspirational shows out there, Biggest Loser would be at the top of my list. It's very inspiring to watch people take charge of their lives and work through their personal problems while losing weight. It's really incredible how weight problems can so often be linked to psychological rational and I wonder how much of that plays a role in both of my parents' weight problems.

I also like The Amazing Race because it really seems to help people suss out their relationships; it helps some realize they're not with the right person, it helps others realize that their relationship is stronger than they realized and it seems to help father-daughter, mother-son or sibling teams recognize how much their families mean to them and that they need to put as much time and effort into their familial relationships as they do their other relationships. (I didn't watch this last season though)

I find a lot of sitcom or dramatized shows to be entertainment with occasional insightful messages rather than inspirational on the whole.

Having just celebrated Memorial Day here in the US, I find shows on 9/11 to be really hard to watch but extremely inspirational; it's truly stories about people risking their lives in life or death situations in order to help people they don't know. When I watch them I often wonder if I would have run into the towers to help someone or if I would have tried to subdue the hijackers on flight 93. I guess you don't really know until you're faced with that situation. It's a really good thing shows like that are only shown once or twice a year, though, because they are just too emotional for me to handle on a more regular basis.

I like watching the Pickers. These two guys drive around the country buying up rusty or broken antiques. everytime they metion what the antique is, there is a mention about what year a company starting making the product. This is a fun way for me to learn about history, because the people who sell the antiques have little stories about how they got the item in the first place. I learned about how some products are more valuable than others because the item is rare or if it is in good condition.
I am also inspired by some of the older t.v. shows: these shows have little morals that you don't really realise are lessons to be learned.

Re: Shows that inspired you...

I was a big fan of the original Star Trek series. Almost all of the episodes included a little moral, and it was a very optimistic view of the future of humankind, for the most part. That we really could improve culturally as a species, and not just keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

The trio were very iconic, larger than life characters to me, Kirk and Spock especially.

Kirk came off as being somewhat Mary Sue in retrospect, in the time before it was a bad thing to be a Mary Sueish character.

Re: Shows that inspired you...

The Amazing Race inspires me because it shows that anyone can do anything. This was true when Luke was on, and even though he's deaf, he still proved that he could do anything he chose to do. That was awesome to me. Also, the older couples were very inspiring.

Glee has inspired me to embrace who I am instead of hiding from it. I like how the show has different messages in episodes, even though a few of those messages aren't that good in the way they portray them. Still, I really enjoy the show and how it tells people to keep reaching for the stars no matter what.

The Glee Project is the same way as there's a guy named Mario who's blind but who can still do what the others can. That's very inspiring and shows that even if you have a disability, you can still overcome it and do what you want to do in order to follow your dreams.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? kind of makes me want to go out there and make people laugh, but in reality, I'm not funny and everybody else seems to agree, so yes, it inspires me, but it's unwelcome for everybody else, if that makes sense.

The Amazing Race has inspired me to travel. Which sadly, I've not done yet. But I can dream!

The Little House on the Prairie was my inspiration for all things historical. I was obsessed with Laura Ingalls Wilder when I was little.

Glee because it tells different stories that show the kind of people that are rarely showcased on TV. It shows acceptance (like when Kurt comes out of the closet and his father accepts him without question) Also, it shows different reactions on controversal issures, like religion and sexuality. Also, Glee inspires me to preform to my fullest abilities all the time, not be afraid to be myself, and to pursue my dreams

HEY BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Sabine Saba a Student. I am huge fan of Watching TV show. I feel very happy when I watching TV shows. The show which inspired me a lot that is GCB .Amanda Vaughn is a recently widowed mother of two who, to get a fresh start, moves back to the affluent Dallas neighborhood where she grew up to find herself in the whirling midst of salacious gossip, Botox, and fraud.

Glee. The first season of Glee inspired me in so many different ways. It made me want to strive for my dreams, whether they be ridiculous or not, and to stand up for that dream when someone questioned it. Although it was only Glee's first season that got that reaction out of me. The other two...They didn't inspire much out of me.

Re: Shows that inspired you...

I grew up with shows like Knight Rider and the A-Team. I don't know if I can really credit them with any "inspiration" though; I have neither an indestructible turbo-powered Trans-Am, nor a big black van with a red stripe (though that would be cool).

I do, however, love it when a plan comes together.
