If you challenge your own house it's practice--no points are awarded.

The Man With Two Faces is the last chapter of the first book and that's all that has been posted to date.

If you're interested, I've posted pictures on my profile in the album titled "Sharing" that show where each of the new books are that unlock the extra information. Mousing over each picture will give you the coordinates to find it on Pottermore. My shorthand: 1.12.1.3 = 1st book.12th Chapter.1st moment.3rd page (double click for second page; double click twice for third page)

There aren't any directions on how to do stuff. I have to come to this thread to find out stuff. My complaint is that Pottermore people assume that everyone will be able to figure things out on their own.
That's the nature of a site that set up for exploration. But there are plenty of blogs that talk about finding stuff and how the site works. You can Google just about any topic and something will come up.

Spoiler: show
All written information can be found at the end of each chapter. The new information is at the end of Chapters 12, 14, and 15.

BTW - my favorite sound is Voldemort slurping unicorn blood. It's just...weird. As is petting McGonagall Kitty.

Re: Pottermore v.11

I am enjoying the fact that there are sounds on Pottermore now. I got my account back in August and it was really boring without sounds. At least, I don't think there were sounds back then - I almost always have my computer speakers muted...

Re: Pottermore v.11

Ajna et al.,

One thing about the notices at the Pottermore gates once you log in, they're just recent updates. You could log in today and it'll tell you something different each time. For instance, today it tells that the most popular wand wood on Pottermore is sycamore (which, I laugh at, btw...)

The message about the library might have been or seemed cryptic to you, but that's the spot Pottermore chooses to put up useless facts or updates...

Just sharing...

Re: Pottermore v.11

I've been so distraught since the beta test "ended" and Ravenclaw went from vying for first to third place in house points, that I've been keeping track of another kind of math. I've posted on this before, but here's an update on the points-per-player for each house:

1st: Ravenclaw 88 pts per player
2nd: Slytherin 84 pts per player
3rd: Gryffindor 81 pts per player
4th Hufflepuff 71 pts per player

Thanks!

Re: Pottermore v.11

I would love for Pottermore to have sort of a Riddle's diary where we could submit questions and JKR would pick one a month to answer.

Mirrormere, that's a great idea! It would certainly keep her busy though. I can see folks asking it the same questions over and over, or asking ones we already have answers to. Even here we have people that won't scroll through pages and pages of text to find an answer to a question. However, the idea of using the interactive nature of a book with disappearing text that answers questions is an awesome idea. Could be used in other ways...

I imagine staff could narrow it down for her--or, even easier, set it up so that students vote for the question they want. The question and answer could then appear on a page of the diary, which would be searchable for all past posts. She wants to give back to the fans-this would be a very fan-satisfying way to do so. And would be a perfect companion to release with the next book, Chamber of Secrets.

Used in other ways?

Was that the one in that library scene with the Trio sitting at the table? That one book in that scene has been doing the exact same thing to me.

I've already tried leaving it & coming back to it another day -- didn't work.

It would help if they would have a link posted somewhere on the site that you could email them to let them know that there's a bug in one of the pages. But all I can find is a multiple-choice feedback link, and a "Help" FAQ with predefined questions & answers, and nowhere to submit an original question/comment except the comments section at the end of the chapter where it's liable to get buried in a mountain of inanity that no one will ever bother to read.

If you'd like to contact Pottermore, you can go to Help and select Other. Then choose What's Next --> Need More Help. That will open up a little contact form where you can report bugs/send feedback.

I had trouble with that too, but when I went to full screen mode (Chrome) I captured the book easily.

Sheesh, they really buried that contact form. Thanks!

Potion Puzzle

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had trouble trying to do the potion puzzle in Chaper 16.

I've been trying to do it for ages. Sometimes I can click on to the scroll to bring the puzzle up. But most of the time nothing.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

GoldRain

Re: Pottermore v.11

By trouble, do you mean that the scroll is getting in the way or that you can't figure out the answer?

If you're having trouble with the scroll, it is probably an issue with your browser or with Flash. This is a common issue. Make sure both are up to date. If updating doesn't help, you can try a different browser. I use Firefox and and have never had any trouble with the scroll. But a lot of other people have.

If you are having trouble figuring out the puzzle, there are a number of solutions posted on the Web.

Hope this helps!

Or just take a peek at Chapter 16 in the book.
