Robbie Jarvis as young James Potter
Robbie Jarvis was the young James Potter in SWM. What do you think about him? To you , did he look a lot like James in the books? Physically?

Re: Robbie Jarvis as young James Potter
He was OK. I didn't like the neat brown hair, though. Would it have been so hard to get a boy with messy black hair?

You know I have wondered that too. Also a girl with green eyes for young Lily instead of brown.

I didn't like the eye color fiasco either but I managed to look over that. I mean, you don't notice a person's eye color a lot, really. Hair color, though...THAT'S very noticeable and also very easy to get right.

Re: Robbie Jarvis as young James Potter
I thought he gave a great performance. I agree about the hair, but that's makeup, not acting. The makeup people could easily have given Jarvis messy black hair and still gotten a strong performance. They didn't need to find a different boy.

I thought he was fine. Definitely not perfect .. but facially I think he looks very similar to Dan Radcliffe.

Re: Robbie Jarvis as young James Potter
At first I thought this thread was in regards to the young man who played James in Snape's memories in DHP2 in which I would say he was a dreadful pick!
But no, Robbie Jarvis was fine, in my opinion. Like some said, the makeup department could have mussed his hair up a bit but I thought his face was similar to Dan's and that was important.

Re: Robbie Jarvis as young James Potter
Robbie Jarvis revealed at LeakyCon that another candidate for the role was Aaron Johnson (he played John Lennon in Nowhere Boy), who just happens to be a hugely popular fancast for James within the fandom.
I thought that was kind of amusing, and a bit disappointing at the same time, because I think Aaron Johnson would have been a bit closer to the book's description of James. I feel like the films didn't even try when it came to James. I've got nothing against Robbie Jarvis, but he's just nothing like how I pictured James--slim face, slightly long nose, messy black hair, as the books put it.

Re: Robbie Jarvis as young James Potter
I thought he was pretty good except I think they should have dyed his hair black and made it more messy. Than he would have been perfect!
Performance wise he was definitely a good pick. |
