Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
The Prince's Tale made me cry. I'm not actually a massive fan of Snape, but I wasn't expecting him to have such a tragic back story. It's my favourite chapter because it's when his whole character just clicked into place for me.

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
The Forest Again I believe it was called - where Harry meets up with Lupin, Sirius and his parents for a last time. My favorite characters - the Marauders were all there. Ya know, sometimes I think that it would have been a funny twist to have Peter show up...JKR would have written that in a stellar fashion and we'd of had a grand laugh (not to mention an ongoing lesson in forgiveness, etc), imo. But it wouldn't have likely worked out too well what with the whole sentimental element of Harry going to his death and all.
Anyway, in its proper form, it was the best chapter of all 7 books hands down.

The one that comes immediately to mind is Prince's Tale because everything about Snape is finally explained and we get to see the various sides of his personality.

I have to agree with wickedwickedboy, "The Forest Again" is just perfect writing. It's emotional and sentimental without being sappy or contrived. Every time I read it, I just become a big basket of tears. Harry's fear is so super poignant, and I just remember reading it for the first time with my jaw on the floor from SHOCK.

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
Mine is a toss-up between The Prince's Tale and The Mirror of Erised.
The Prince's Tale was tragic and beautiful and finally everything about Snape made sense. I loved how Harry actually saw the his memories through the pensieve instead of Snape just telling him about what happened. The Mirror of Erised intrigued me so much when I first read it when I was younger because I always wondered what I most desired. Going back and reading it after learning about Dumbledore's past, I think the chapter is really bittersweet. |

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
Either "The Prince's Tale" or "The Forest Again".
"The Prince's Tale" - as with a lot of people that have chosen this chapter, I am not actually the world's biggest Snape fan. I like him a lot more now that I have more information about his backstory, but I still don't see him as one of my favourite characters. This chapter, however, is extraordinarily well written and shows just how multi-dimensional the character and his story are. I have to admit, I cry my way through it. It is also a good indication to me of why Snape did the things he did. Why he wanted to be powerful. Why he eventually realised there was something more important to him than that. "The Forest Again" - Once again, I cry my way through it. I think its touching that its only really as he believes himself approaching his death that Harry can have a proper conversation with his parents, and hear them say how proud they are - something that he has heard Arthur and Molly say to their children so many times. I was also interested in it being them specifically that Harry brings back. Not Dumbledore or - after what he has just seen - Snape. And Remus but not Tonks. Its almost like everything started with the Marauders, and everything was just about to end with them. And then there's Harry's sweet, innocent, naive query about whether or not dying hurts........ |

"Diagon Alley" from the Sorcerer's Stone is my favorite. There's nothing quite like the first time you are introduced to a new world, whether in books or movies. You don't know what to expect, everything is deliciously unpredictable.

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
The Forest Again. It's such a beautiful, sad chapter. I thought it was the most heartbreaking chapter in the series. I thought that those who accompanied Harry were perfectly chosen. They were parents and parent figures to Harry. People who would give him solace and comfort in what he thought would be his final moments. It was just beautiful. From Harry's grim acceptance of what he needed to do, to the final moments when he threw off the Cloak announced his presence and waited for Voldemort to move...beautiful chapter.

I don't have only one favorite chapter, I have many, but if I had to choice just one, then this is “The Dementor's Kiss” in PoA, not only because I like it actually, but also because it was the chapter that, in a way, did to start my passion for the Harry Potter’s saga.

Dudley Demented. I liked how Harry was razzing on "Big D". I thought it was about time Harry stood up to Dudders.

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
I would say I have two favorite chapters. The first being "The Forest Again" in Deathly Hallows. It was such a moving part in the series. I really felt that everything clicked for Harry. Sure he had always known that it would come down to Voldemort vs. himself, especially after finding out about the prophecy, but after hearing the Prince's Tale and physically/mentally having to walk to his death, made it all real. My second favorite would be in the Order of the Phoenix, when Dumbledore is explaining to Harry why he took the actions he did and hid the truth from Harry. So many emotions were in both of these chapters. Kudos to you, J.K.R.

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
From each book:
PS: Through the Trap Door: it was all so exciting, defeating all the teacher's traps. Also Halloween in which Harry, Ron and Hermione become friends and the Trio is officially a fact. COS: The Heir Of Slytherin. I love Tom Riddle's speech in the Chamber. POA: The whole ending is marvellous starting with Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, Snape's Grudge, Hermione's Secret and the whole time-travelling's sequence. Really well written. GOF: Nothing in particular actually, I enjoyed the book overall. OotP: The whole Ministry sequence and Beyond The Veil HBP: Again the ending starting from The Cave and climaxing with The Lightning-Struck Tower, The Phoenix's Lament (or something like that?) I always end up crying. And of course The White Tomb. It really shows how noble Dumbledore was, since every creature brings honour to him. And it also shows the infinite loyalty of Ron and Hermione towards Harry. DH: The Silver Doe we get this friendly Patronus Harry trusts. He wouldn't do so if he had known its caster of course. I love how Ron saves Harry, and fights his fears and overcomes them. I also love the hug between both and Harry consoling Ron. It really makes me emotional. Kreacher's Tale also is one of my favourites. And of course, almost unavoidable: The Prince's Tale. My top 3 would be: The Prince's Tale - The Phoenix's Lament - and the Silver Doe.

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
I tend to like chapters that explain things, or that bring about a feeling of excitement in me. So generally I like chapters towards the end of each book. My absolute favorite chapter though is The Prince's Tale. The way it sweeps quickly from explanation to explanation is magnificent. So much is answered in that chapter, even some small lingering questions from as far back as the first book.
Other chapters I particularly enjoy: Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, Snape's Grudge, The Parting of the Ways, The Seer Overheard, The Dursleys Departing, The Wandmaker (which is immensely important to the ending), The Lost Diadem (in particular the part where Harry learns from Neville and the others what has been happening at Hogwarts), The Forest Again and King's Cross. |

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
Aside from the The Prince's Tale I really liked the chapter Ron came back in DH, The Silver Doe. It was both a happy and a sad chapter. Happy because Ron comes back but sad as to how little Ron thinks of himself.
For humour the chapter where Luna commentates is just brilliant. |

Re: What is your favourite chapter from all the books?
My absolute favorite chapter of all time, forever and ever in the HP series is The Lost Diadem
It's the chapter where the trio are reunited with their ragtag group of friends, it's when they make the decision to fight Voldemort and, my absolute favorite favorite moment in the books, when the teachers fortify Hogwarts. I cannot explain how much I love this moment! It's so exciting and gives me the chills just thinkng about it.
