Challenge Three: Pack your trunk!

Before school starts you will have to pack your trunk. This was always a challenge to me, you can only pack so many books before disaster strikes.

This a visual challenge. You may draw the items you need or make a collage from pictures you find on the web.

Either draw your own trunk or google and pick one from the fine examples there. Be creative in what you take with you, we don´t need to see underwear etc

Requirements:

• A trunk

• If you have Pottermore and you make a collage you can use items from your Pottermore trunk

• Host your image on a hosting site like Photobucket, ImageShack or something else. Don't host it on CoS (your album can reveal your identity). We will transfer the image to our own Photobucket.

• Be creative. An artistic (like the collages of Dadaism) approach to the challenge is welcomed.

• Size of image: limit your entry to 600x600 pixels and 100KB.

• Deadline: September 24th 12pm GMT (timezone converter) (that's 7am US central time, if I'm correct)

• Entries can be send to: SusanBones, RemusLupinFan or Hes

Any of those should work.

do you have any challenges for non- computer geeks like me? I can answer poll questions but posting pictures seem techincal to me.

Questionaire challenges ask a lot of staff activity because we work with a password protected forum and time limit in those cases. Which demands of staff to be around constantly to check if people follow the rules. I'm afraid that's impossible for us, we run the entire contest with three people atm.

Therefore most of our challenges are about writing a story and a few visuals.

If this helps anyone who is finding it a challenge to get their image down to 100 KBs, well, it's easy.

Create any image you want (except perhaps animated).

Then the secret is called Compression. Google how to do it in your program of choice, or, you can use GIMP. I use GIMP, and I can explain it in this program.

GIMP is free.

Upload your image in GIMP.

Click File - Export

At the very top where it says "Name" you'll see the URL. Change the end to JPG. If it's already JPG, leave it.

Click Export

You'll see Quality - lower it slightly.

Click Export

Find your image and check the KBs. See if they're at or below 100.

Easy......

Upload your background.

Then click the upload button again and add the first smaller image you want to add to the background.

Then Edit - Copy image to clip board

Scoll down a little, and you'll see a small picture of your background. Click on it.

Then Edit - Paste image from clipboard.

Once you pick the size and location, save the image.

Then go to upload and upload your next small image.

Edit - Copy to clipboard.

Scroll down, click on the first image to the left - it will be the most recent image you worked on.

Then Edit - Paste image from clipboard.


Just a suggestion.

I'd also had a bit of a problem getting my image down to the 100 KB. I ending up just resizing it a couple of times and that worked for me.

Also, if anyone is using PS or PS Elements you can click file and then click 'save for web'. You can change the size and format there.
