Good Day Everyone,

I'm sorry to say that CoS Forums is going to shut down in the Summer, sometime around July. This isn't an early April Fools joke either.

The Forums have become quite expensive to run and manage. There's a lot (LOT) less traffic coming to the site these days as Harry Potter becomes less of a topical debate for people.

I held on for a while after the last film, wondering whether JK would announce anything surprising, but I find that even if she did it wouldn't serve to help the diminishing numbers on the site or my bank balance!

Myself, I've been absent a lot more in the past year as personal issues have taken over and I've had to work longer hours, to earn more money to keep the forums going as well as pay for things like rent, utilities and god knows what else.

Some of you will be sad and I'm sure others will be happy. I'm not doing this lightly and I could have closed the site last year but held off. I know this may upset some of you who've come to see this place as a haven with friends and I'm very sorry it has to go but I've kept this place going with money out of my own pocket for 10 years now and it's no longer financially viable to do so. Please understand that this is not an easy decision!

Some of you may wish to offer to help, to donate or even take on the site. Whilst I would listen to any suggestions, I will not accept donations as this would be unsustainable in the long-term. If you wanted to take on CoS, be aware that you would need to find $200 per month and to be honest with you all I'm not sure I'm prepared to let the site be taken over by anyone. I've created a thread for comments. The other staff know only as much as the above. There is no Plan B as far as they are concerned, so do not pester them for answers to questions. If they do not know, they are being totally honest.

Many thanks to everyone who for the last 10+ years have worked in one way or another on the site. All the staff, past and present who gave their time and energy to making the community work. Every single person gave their time for free and were never paid for their efforts. It was a labor of love for all.
Many thanks to the members, those who came & went and dared to stay. Every single one of you who contributed to the site, to the discussions and events. You were the ones who made the site what it became, from the all the book releases to the heated, sometimes famous debates about all sorts of topics. You made CoS what it was. So thank you.

I just checked Zap2it...a new marathon is starting to show up, they'll be starting with GOF on Tuesday October 16th at 7:30 pm Eastern time. They're reshowing it on Wednesday the 17th at 4:30. I'll post the complete schedule when they're done updating

I wonder if they're showing OotP this time because i wasn't so keen on that one. Hopefully they'll only show GoF and HBP this time.

It's weird for them to start on a Wednesday, and with GoF no less. I know they're playing HP for the 13 days of Halloween thing, but that doesn't start on the 16th.

I don't know if they're done updating the schedule, but I thought I'd post what's showing now...if they add anymore I'll add it on I'll say one thing, I think this is the weirdest schedule I've seen, there's nothing for the actual weekend. Don't forget it's Eastern time.

Tuesday – 10 – 16
GOF - 7:30 – 11:00 pm

Wednesday – 10-17
GOF - 4:30 – 8:00 pm
OotP - 8:00 – 11:00 pm

Thursday – 10-18
OotP - 4:30 – 7:30 pm

I watched GoF on tuesday but i didn't watch OotP last night nor tonight but I'm gonna watch HBP tonight. I think OotP is kinda boring, annoying, and repetitive along with SS, CoS, PoA, and DH1.

It felt odd watching HBP so early in the day (1pm). They don't usually do that. The popups and logo stuff was extra annoying this time, don't ya think? Each movie was a 3 hour commercial for 13 days of halloween. I'll take the HBO version over ABC Family's. There's no deleted scenes but also no ads or logos, and they play the full credits.

i didn't know any of the movies were on this week. I only saw HBP and I missed part of it cause I dosed off, but I am taking medication that makes me sleepy.

Here comes the next one. Tuesday 11/12 Chamber at 7pm. Wednesday 11/13 Chamber at 3PM and GOF at 7:30pm (why 4 1/2 hours interval?). Thursday 11/14 GOF at 4:30pm. Will post again when more info avail.

Update on Sunday 10:33 EST:They've added OOTP and HBP on Thursday and Friday nite. Haven't posted in a while due to power troubles from Sandy. Running off a gas-fired generator to get power here on Lawn Guyland. Gas shortages real bad. Rationing in effect. Anyone having similar troubles?

It's weird to see a ABC Family Potter marathon start on a Monday. I'm looking forward too it, I always look forward too it, you can never watch the Harry Potter movies enough times! Well, at least, in my case. I really like the deleted scenes in GoF and HBP, they're usually not the movies that I re-watch, but when they're on this channel I always tune in, I like that they add the extra scenes to the movies.

Looking forward to DH Part 1&2, but that's a little far off.
